《Distraction》I forgive you.

"I'm sorry Daisy, it looks to me like your father passed from..."
"Let me guess, alcohol poisoning?" You sigh, shaking your head. Bucky has an arm wrapped around you and Steve stood next to you firmly.
The officer nods and you let out a muffled cry.
The officer nods sympathetically, your fathers body gets escorted out of the house, packed up in a bag like he was nothing but rubbish, the officer hands you his card and gives you the whole 'We will be in touch' speech before driving away.
Bucky manages to lead you to Steve's house and you collapse onto his sofa.
You were numb. You felt absolutely nothing in that moment.
"Daisy..." You hear Steve whisper to you. You look up to see him holding out a mug of tea. You whisper a dull 'Thankyou' and take it off him. Just staring at it.
Bucky sighs and takes the mug from your hand. You don't even notice. It's like you wasn't even there.
Steve and Bucky exchange a concerned look before Steve sits the one side of you and Bucky the other. Bucky takes your hand gently, trying to miss the burn marks that were still fresh on your soft skin. Your head found it's way leaned into Steve's shoulder and eventhough Steve tenses at first, Bucky gave him a sad smile and Steve then eased into you, wrapping an arm around you.
After about an hour you had completely fallen asleep on Steve's shoulder. Bucky sat up and helped Steve get up carefully, they lay you down properly on the sofa, a pillow underneath you and blanket on top. They went over to the dining table and sat down. The silence was deafening. They were both heartbroken for you.
"When are you going to tell her?" Bucky sighs.

Steve gulps "Tell her what?"
"Steve!" Bucky raises his voice but immediately shushes himself after. Trying his best not to disturb you.
"Shes just lost her father Buck. I can't exactly express my love for her right now"
Bucky knew Steve was right and give him a nod, agreeing with him.
"Why are you so desperate for me to tell her?"
"The question is Steve, why aren't you desperate to tell her?" Bucky challenges back.
Steve doesn't say anything and Bucky clenches his fists.
"She put her heart on a platter and served it to you and you basically threw it in the bin Steve"
"I know what I did Buck okay?! I don't need your constant reminder"
"Then fix it"
"I will!"
"When?"
"Buck stop..."
"What's going on?" You walk into the room rubbing your eyes. They were dry and sore, bloodshot and puffy from the constant crying.
Steve and Bucky share an understanding glance that they were going to finish that conversation later. Right now Daisy was there top priority.
"Daisy. You need rest" Bucky sighs
"I Uh...Do you think you could lie with me...Steve?"
Steve's jaw dropped and Bucky gave him a warning look.
"Me?" Steve croaks out shakily.
"Umm...yes...only if you don't..."
"Of course he doesn't mind! He will be right in Daisy" Bucky speaks up and you give a deflated smile before going back into the living room.
"Buck, I don't think I'm the right..."
"Steve. Listen to me. After everything that's gone on between you and her, she still wants YOU as her comfort right now. So get your skinny ass up and go be with YOUR Daisy. She needs you"
Shes shoots up and nods "Your right"
"I'm always right" Bucky announces confidently and Steve rolls his eyes before heading to find you.

"Do you Uh..do you want to go upstairs?" Steve asks Daisy carefully, his cheeks turning a bright shade of red.
Before Daisy can even react Steve begins to ramble nervously
"I just meant my bed is bigger to lie on than the sofa, we can both fit on the sofa fine, I just meant that maybe the bed is softer and you may feel more comfortable..."
"Steve...I know what you meant" You try to reassure him and he takes a deep breath.
"Yeah..yeah of course you did, sorry I just..."
"You don't have many women in your bed these days?" You try to joke but you see Steve become even more frantic.
"No! God no Daisy listen I've never..."
"Steve" you walk over to him and take his hand. Your fingers intertwine like they were always meant to fit together. Steve looks at you with nothing but sympathy before leading you up the stairs and to his bedroom.
You lie down on Steve's bed and he lies next to you, but still a good distance from you. Trying not to invade your private space. He was trying to be a gentleman, and that's the last thing you wanted right now.
"Steve..." You whisper out.
His head turns to you and you can see the worry he has on his face.
"Can I..."
You thought at that point it was better to just do it than explain so you shuffled yourself over to Steve's side of the bed and placed your head under his and onto his chest. He automatically wraps his arm around you like it's second nature. Before running his finger up and down your back. Soothing you instantly. Your arm found it's way around Steve's stomach snd you both took a deep breath. Completely contented in one another's arms.
"Daisy...I.."
"You don't have to say anything Steve. I forgive you..."
"You do?" Steve asks as softly as possible. A tear running from his face.
"Yeah...I wouldn't love me either" You say devastatingly before you drift into sleep.
"No Daisy that's not what I..." You had fallen asleep from the exhaustion and heartache before Steve could say anything else.
His heart rate picked up and his mind swirled.
He looked over to his desk, your Daisy chain was sat there. The only thing on the desk. The only thing that mattered to him.
"I love you Daisy..." Steve whispered as you slept deeply.
"I'll tell you one day. I promise" He gulps before sleep overcomes him too.

Alternative Reality Vol. 1
Note: Sadly, all things must come to an end and Volume 1 has been officially completed. Since I have now published the whole volume on amazon and enrolled it into KDP select, I can no longer keep the book uploaded on other platforms as per their requirements. Apologies for the inconvenience. If, by any chance, you'd like to support me there, you can find the book here: https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B07MRDFR7V What do you do when life‘s got you hunched on the ground, crying and screaming for your mother? When negativity and black humor is the only entertainment you‘re getting? You run away to a different world, of course! And it just so happened that one such world was available and open for the downtrodden and distraught. Alternative Reality - a virtual reality platform with a suspiciously unoriginal name, already established as the most life-like experience one could spend their time on and Luke had plenty of time to spare. Now? He’s more than just Luke, the social outcast. Now, he’s also Wail - a lunatic magician who plays with fire without the mental aptitude or sense of responsibility necessary to safely handle it. Add in a petty and spiteful character and the conditions for mayhem are fully satisfied. Join now and witness his adventures, while the world around burns with more than a bit of fault falling upon his downward sloping shoulders. Disclaimer! The book contains morally ambiguous choices, violence, arson, vandalism, unnecessarily satirical portrayal of religious zealotry, profanity, background forced labor that looms dangerously close to slavery and much, much more.
