《BadBoy Tutor》Chapter Six

"How can you eat that much yet still be skinny?" I asked as Reece tucked into his third cupcake. Turning around with blue icing covering his upper lip, I stifled a laugh. He eyed me suspiciously.
"Well I could ask you the same thing." He replied as I also bit into the third cake. After Reece had dropped me home, I showered and got bored so I made cupcakes. It was currently 9pm and we still hadn't started tutoring. Instead, Reece got distracted by the horror movie I was watching when he arrived and we ended up finishing it together. We were now sat in the kitchen eating the cupcakes I had made.
"Touché." I muttered as Reece hummed in appreciation.
"I don't give compliments often Sammy, but these cupcakes are fucking delicious." I chuckled as he peeled off the wrapper of his fourth cupcake and shoved it in his mouth whole. The math books were sprawled in front of us on the kitchen table but neither of us made an effort to start.
"Well could you expect any different? I am amazing so my baking would be too." He rolled his eyes at my cockiness and grinned, blue icing on his perfectly white teeth.
"Tell you what. I'll pick you up and drive you home every day until you get your car back if you bake me at least a batch of these a week." My eyes widened at his proposition and I couldn't tell if he was being serious. When his face stayed the same I thought about it. Had we become friends? I honestly couldn't tell. A week ago we hated each other but now we actually seemed to be getting along. I shrugged to myself, not getting the bus was worth baking. And I loved to bake.
I grinned. "Deal."
"I'll pick you up at 8 then." I nodded, feeling slightly uncomfortable at the thought of him being so nice to me.
I raised a brow suspiciously. "Why are you being nice all of a sudden?"
He faked a hurt expression and held a hand over his heart. "Me? I'm always nice Sammy."

"Why do you call me that? Everyone else just calls me Sam." I questioned quietly, never understanding why he would always call me Sammy.
"Well I'm not everyone else." He drawled, obviously avoiding the question. "So when's your dad back?" He randomly asked and I furrowed my eyebrows at him. Why would he care?
"2 weeks I think. Maybe longer."
Before he could reply, a random banging on the front door snapped us both out of our conversation and I stood up to answer it. Reece looked hesitant but after telling him to stay there, I wandered over and opened it. I clenched my jaw when I saw who the person was.
"What do you want?" I hissed as he pushed past me and entered the house. The front door was right in front of the kitchen so Reece saw him instantly.
"What are you doing here?" Adam growled when he spotted my tutor, clenching his fists so they turned white.
Reece stood up and stepped closer to him. "I could ask the same for you." His teeth were clenched but he remained rather calm.
"I'm her boyfriend!" He yelled.
Reece smirked. "Ex."
Adam's jaw clenched with anger and before he could do something stupid, I stepped in between them and pushed at his chest. "Adam. Get out of my house." I stated calmly.
Hurt flashed his eyes. "You're taking his side? You might hate me right now but he's not safe to be alone around Sam!"
I rolled my eyes, not believing a word he said. "You're right." I noticed Reece tensed beside me before I chuckled bitterly. "I do hate you. Now get out!"
Adam shook his head with disbelief before his eyes hardened. "Can't you see? He's just using you to get to me!" He exclaimed before turning to Reece.
"If you hurt her i-"
I shook my head with disbelief. "Oh shut up Adam." I yelled and his head snapped to mine. "He's my maths tutor and even if we were anything more it would be none of your fucking business. You're the one who hurt me and yet you don't seem to understand that. You won't even leave me alone when I beg you to!" I spat, getting angrier by the second.

He chuckled bitterly before backing away from me. "Don't come crying to me when he tosses you into the trash just like he does with every other girl." He replied and I flinched when I heard the door slam. I stood there in shock and hardly took notice to Reece's seething anger behind me. What was his problem? Why did he always have to bother me?
Why couldn't he just leave me the fuck alone!
"I can't believe you ever dated him." Reece muttered with disgust and I could feel myself getting angry with him. I snapped my head around to meet his.
"You don't think I know that? You don't have to rub it in my face every fucking minute!" I snapped and quickly regretted taking my anger and frustration out on him but I couldn't help it. I was so done with all of Adam's bullshit.
Reece's face quickly softened. "Hey I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to upset you." I hadn't noticed the tears that has escaped my eyes until he mentioned it and I quickly wiped them away, turning my back to him.
After a couple moments, I felt myself calming down. "You didn't. I'm sorry for snapping at you." Reece appeared beside me and gave me a questioning gaze, almost concerning.
Ha, Reece being concerned for me? Would never fucking happen.
"It's fine."
I huffed. "Why do you two hate each other so much anyway?"
The question made Reece stiffen as his face hardened. I noticed how he always poked his tounge in the skin between his lips as he was thinking. "No reason particularly. He's just an asshole." He lied. I could tell he was lying but I didn't question it further. It was none of my business.
"Don't cry over him. That asshole does not deserve your tears." My heart clenched at the words he had just said. Reece was showing me a side I had never seen before.
I huffed. "I'm not crying over him anymore. Its more tears of frustration. I just want him to leave me alone." My voice cracked at the end and Reece grabbed my arm, pulling me into the living room where he sat us both down in the spaces we had been previously watching the tv in.
"Does he do that often?" He asked quietly, but also softly.
I sighed. "Not that often. It's happened quite a few times but normally he just bothers me at school. It's like he does it on purpose when he knows I don't want to be near him." I paused. I don't know why I was telling Reece this but for some reason it was helping so I carried on. "The other day when Mr Harvey told us that you would have to tutor me, he had turned up the night before at midnight and refused to leave until I got back together with him. Eventually I had to call Cole and woke him up at 4am because he wouldn't fuck off."
Reece's jaw clicked with anger before he held out his palm. "Give me your phone." I raised an eyebrow but begrudgingly handed it over. He typed something in before handed it over and I quickly looked at what he had done. My head snapped up when I saw he had put his number into my phone.
He gave me a soft smile. "Give me a ring next time that dickhead comes over. I'll get rid of him for you." He stood up and shrugged on his leather jacket. I didn't know what to say so I just kept quiet as he packed up his belongings.
"Ive got to go." He commented, shrugging on his beanie as he grabbed his car keys from his bag. I nodded, thanking him quickly and watched as he walked to the front door.
"Oh and Sammy?" He yelled and I lifted up to look at him. He was smirking. "See you tomorrow morning. I expect my cupcakes."

Cycles of Ruin
Civilizations rise and fall. Kith build them up and monsters, led by powerful dungeon keepers, bring them to ruin. For three thousand years the cycle has been maintained by the Guild of Chaos and its endless hordes of minions who—in absence of their long lost creators—have taken it upon themselves to keep the realms of the universe in balance. The Guild has grown efficient at this task, but some among its ranks have begun to ponder the utility of a universe that has been robbed of the very possibility of change. Basil von Doom is one such dungeon keeper working for the Guild, leading an army of loyal minions from one conquest to the next; burning civilizations and sifting through the ruins in search of forbidden knowledge that the races of kith were never meant to possess. But having spent more than half a century in pursuit of glory and fame—trying to live up to the legacy of his father—Basil has grown indifferent towards his work. Desperate for a worthy challenge, but bound by his duties as a dungeon keeper, he has turned his mind towards uncovering the ultimate fate of the previous master of his house and the secrets that were buried with him. Now the young Master of House Doom must balance his growing interest in pursuing the trail of his father with the responsibilities that come with running a dungeon in service to the Guild of Chaos. To remain in good standing with the Guild, Basil has even accepted the task of mentoring an apprentice dungeon keeper, a young succubus named Elnora. It is at the tail end of her apprenticeship that the story begins; with a civilization poised to fall—its greatest heroes gathering for one last assault on the heart of darkness—and Basil striking up a conversation with his apprentice that will set into motion the unraveling of the universe. ***This is a rewrite and continuation of my story that was first posted on RoyalRoad a few years ago.
