your girlfriend, and co-worker, maria hill, had been coughing all day. she claimed that she was fine everytime you asked, but she had to make 'bathroom breaks' every ten minutes, and it had gotten increasingly more worrying every moment that passed.

"go home, maria." you spoke sternly.

"i'm fine." she retorted.

you stood across from her, a deep frown against your lips. "technically, i am your superior in s.h.i.e.l.d., so i am commanding you to go home right now." you firmly stated.

a few beats passed before maria replied, her voice full of phlegm. "okay, fine." she held her hands up in mock-surrender.

"i'll make you some soup when i'm home." you smiled, happy that you had cracked her tough exterior. you watched her walk away, and wondered how you had got so lucky with such a badass woman.
