Summary: A Star is Born fic. Based on the song Always Remember Us This Way

That Arizona sky burning in your eyes
You look at me and, babe, I wanna catch on fire
It's buried in my soul like California gold
You found the light in me that I couldn't find
It was suppose to be a weekend vacation. Arrive on Friday and leave on Sunday but after meeting her, you couldn't just leave after only spending a night with her. She was a complete mystery to you. You had met her while you had gone to the beach for a relaxed afternoon and the rest was history. She had been the one that helped you out in your slump. The only reason why you took this vacation was due to the fact that you no longer had a reason for anything. Everything just seemed so pointless. She gave you a reason to continue. She had been your light. Your week of fun with her was soon brought to an end and both of you headed back home with the promise of coming to visit each other.
So when I'm all choked up
But I can't find the words
Every time we say goodbye
Baby, it hurts
When the sun goes down
And the band won't play
I'll always remember us this way
As promised, the two of you would have secret meetings. Lena had said that she didn't want to put your life in danger since she had constant assassination attempts. You worried about her but she brushed it off saying it was nothing. She had Supergirl and a top of the line of security. Her life wasn't particularly in any danger. Nevertheless, she couldn't risk it with you. You were her everything and she didn't want to lose you. Each goodbye sucked but it was necessary. You couldn't lose her either.

We don't know how to rhyme
But, damn, we try
But all I really know
You're where I wanna go
The part of me that's you will never die
Your visits to each other's place would often be at least every other week. The two of you were always so desperate to go see each other and so it had become a routine. This routine developed to the point that certain people started to notice the busy CEO leaving every other weekend to (your city). They followed her and soon discovered the only weakness to her. They used it to their advantage and your first assassination attempt had occurred the Monday after she had left. Lena had become so freaked out about the whole thing that she broke up with you. Saying how she couldn't be responsible for the death of you and made you promise to not contact her anymore. It broke your heart and despite your attempts to contact, she was unreachable. This is when you started writing her letters.
So when I'm all choked up
But I can't find the words
Every time we say goodbye
Baby, it hurts
When the sun goes down
And the band won't play
I'll always remember us this way
Your letters were never sent. They piled up in your desk drawer and you really wanted to send them but it was pointless. Lena didn't want you to contact her again. Each letter was reminder of what the two of you had done before you broke up. Every memory with her was written down and you included how much you had loved that day and so on. The ending of the letter would always end the same way. That you loved her and hoped that someday she would see how wrong it was of her to just end the relationship.
Oh, yeah
I don't wanna be just a memory, baby, yeah
You were still stuck on her but it seemed like she had already found someone else. The daily paper you received had on the front page about the CEO's new love interest. It broke your heart but there was nothing you could do. It had been so long since you talked to her that it was natural of her to have already moved on. What you didn't know what the she missed you dearly. Would compose text messages but never sent them as they had warned her it was dangerous. There was to be no contact to keep you safe. She didn't want you getting her so the whole relationship had been an attempt to keep the attention away from you.

But those attempts didn't work. They knew her heart wasn't with the blonde that she would go out with. They didn't do anything until they were sure that Lena believe that you were no longer in danger. You didn't know about how she had hired private security for you but they knew. They moved in when the security she hired had lessened. You didn't know anything about the security. You did however know that you were being followed when you decided to take a trip to visit where you had met Lena. It had been a mistake on your part as you were shot. Not a fatal shot but you were losing blood. Too much blood, way too fast. All you could do during those few minutes of bleeding out was think of the memories you had shared with Lena. You closed your eyes with a smile on your face as you ran out of breath.
When you look at me
And the whole world fades
I'll always remember us this way
Lena felt it. The exact moment that you had left the world. She had no idea what happened but she knew that it was bad. She called the security agent that was in charge of you and that's when she found out. You had passed away in the operating table. You had lost too much blood and there had been nothing they could do for you. Lena broke down. She lost you in the end. Everything that she had done to prevent harm from coming to you had been pointless. You had still been killed. A few weeks after the funeral, a lawyer had come into her office, dropping off a few boxes with letters addressed to her that had never been sent.
Darling,
It's been almost 7 months since we last talked. I miss you so much and everyday it hurts a little more when I'm not with you. I wish I would still be able to hear your sweet voice. The speeches you give, fill a small void but it's not enough. I know you're trying to protect me and that you're scared but I still think it would have been much better if we had stayed together. I could have moved in with you. I would have done anything to be able to be with you and I still would. I miss you so much and I hope that maybe one day we can meet by the beach again. I can't forget the moment we spent there and I hope we can go back one day. I love you, Lena.
With much love,
(y/n)
Lena broke down again. Most of the letters she had read, contained the same thing. She would never forgive herself for pushing you away like that. Those that hurt you will pay for what they had done.

2332: Fleeing the Arrakis
What if you can build a town that moves faster than the speed of light? Silas Creedy, a retired Olympic Fencer in his late twenties, has befallen hard times in a crashing economy caused by dwindling rare minerals on Earth and Helium-3 on the lunar surface. He works as a manual laborer for the Space Force, accepting a measly pay while maintaining a strong physique. On Monday morning, Silas receives a notice of termination, but General Grant Freeman makes a dangerous offer: explore a distant star system in a top-secret electrogravitic spaceship while wearing a prototype exosuit that augments reality into a role-playing game. The objectives? Locate a source of Helium-3. Plain and uncomplicated. Silas accepts, but on an Earth-like planet he comes across a seemingly unmanned crashed spaceship that has a remarkably similar aesthetic to his exosuit. As local Fauna attack him, the crashed ship’s AI hijacks his suit’s programming, fends off the the locals, and repairs itself by fusing with Silas’ ship. Silas soon finds himself in the midst of a war between two Kardashev type-3 civilizations vying for dominance over the Milky Way. With his new AI companion, Tracey, Silas decides to go on the run to keep Earth’s location secret. Contains profanity, gore, transhumanism, and eventual real-world LitRPG character stats and spaceship-building mechanics.

(This is my first novel, though the idea for it has been in the back of my mind for years, This is my attempt to put it to paper. Looking forward to any constructive criticism, however, i already have in mind, the entire plot and tone of the story, any revisions based on feedback will likely only be considered upon completion. As of now starting out, i haven't really settled on a timeline for regular updates But I aiming for at least two chapters a week at about 2000 words each. I will promise at least one chapter of that size at least once a week, until completion. I'm rather determined to put this story on paper ( or web page i guess).
