《My Prison Penpal》Chapter 10

It's been two months since our daughter, Naya, was kidnapped . The police have no leads which ain't surprising because we are Black. Therefore, Andrea's uncle Amir has been on the case. Speaking of him, during dinner last night he called Andrea. She didn't tell me what he told her but it made her lock herself in the guest bedroom. It's now the afternoon and she hasn't even come out to eat.
"I will take her food. *Mom
"Yea, work them motherly vibes on her. *Derek
My parents laugh then my mom leaves with the plate of food.
She stays for an hour and comes back to my dad and I watching tv.
"Is she okay? What did Amir tell her? *Derek
"That crazy ex-girlfriend's mother took my grandbaby and sold her to someone.
"What?! *Derek and Pops
I start looking for my sneakers and car keys.
"I'm going to put that bitch in a grave next to her daughter. *Derek
"Too late. *Mom
"Amir already killed her? * Derek
"Nope. She took pills and by the time Amir was questioning her on the whereabouts of Naya, she had a seizure and died. *Mom
"Did Amir question her husband? *Derek
"That man has been living with his mistress for a while and doesn't know what was going on with his wife. He has been given access to his wife's files and bank accounts, so don't lose hope. He is also going to track down the fake ambulance people.
"Okay. I'm going to go check on Andrea.
"She is y'all room taking a bath. And we will be going home.
"Be safe.
"It's right across the street. *Mom
They laugh and shake their heads
I go upstairs and walk into our bedroom. I hear music playing and I smell vanilla candles burning. My baby loves her candles and always lights some up so she can relax.

I knock on the door
"Come in Derek.
I open the door and walk in
"How did you know it was me?
"Because only you would invade my privacy, clingy self. *Andrea
"It's your fault I'm clingy. Is that why you're distancing yourself from me?*Derek
"Just looking at you, reminds me that our daughter isn't here. *Andrea
"I didn't know that lady was going to take Naya. *Derek
"I know but it still hurts. I just wish we met under normal circumstances. *Andrea
"Me too. I wish I would've met you instead of that she-devil. *Derek
"We could've met but I still wasn't your type. *Andrea
"True. I was such a dumb ass. But still decided to bless me twice. I have faith that God will do it again and bring Naya home. *Derek
She steps out of the tub and I immediately turn around. It's not the time for sex or any naughty thoughts.
I turn around and fix her towel. I kiss her on the head and leave the room. I need a drink.
Andrea POV
Derek drinks himself to sleep which is perfect because I'm about to sneak out the house. I'm going to find my baby and I don't care how long it takes.
With my bag in hand, I walk out the door on a mission.

Single Mother Cultivator: Determination to deny her naïve son a terrible destiny
Lucia Martinez had to fight for every little victory in her life, especially when she was responsible for raising a teenage son by herself. But when the teen gets summoned to another world by a dysfunctional martial sect as their would-be savior, she’ll have to fight harder than ever just to get him back. Brought along to a world of Eastern fantasy, Lucia finds herself face to face with obscure magical creatures, various rich cultures, and a familiar yet unique chi-based magic system that every faction has their own way of looking at. Single Mother Cultivator is as the title suggests, a Cultivation novel. Unlike other Cultivation stories, this one focuses on multiple Asian mythologies rather than just Chinese myth, and isn’t just a generic power fantasy. It explores the very nature of strength itself, and how it could and should be used. The foundational power system is the same for both major factions, with differences in their philosophies on how to pursue it. New chapters on Mon-Wed-Fri

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
