You an Nat have been dating for just over a year now, she is the sweetest girlfriend even if she doesn't show it to the others that she cares. You get scared of her sometimes cause of her outbursts she has but she has never noticed that she scares her own girlfriend. Yelena and Wanda are your best friends, they know about you being frightened of Nat when she gets angry, they urge you to tell her how you feel cause it isn't healthy for you or her. It's now 6 months after the break up and both you and Natasha are miserable without each other and it's obvious to the rest of the avengers. After many stories and explanations from yelena why you broke up with her she understood why you did it, she went to therapy and it's helped her a lot and she's not like she was with you. She wants you back and she will do anything she can to get you back and convince you she's better and you don't need to be scared of her. You still flinch when she's around and it makes her even more upset that she has made you like that. Both yelena and Wanda know you both miss each other and nat has truly changed as they would never even think to do what they are planning otherwise as they don't want your safety to be in danger and they know you are both hopelessly in love with each other despite what happened and hoe long ago it was.

Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
