《The Last line of Uchiha》Part 14

After that little awkward reunion, we were all sitting inside the building thinking of what to do next. It had gotten dark outside and the silence was deafening.
"Orochimaru?" Sarada asked.
"Yeah, Kakashi-sensei told me that he had a feeling the enemy could be connected to Orochimaru this time." Lord Naruto explained.
'Please!' I rolled my eyes continuing my meditation.
"Who's that?" The second young girl, who's name I learned was Cho Cho asked.
"There's no way Maru has any part in that Shin's plans." I voice my thoughts.
"Maru?" Lord Naruto looked at me.
"Even if he was part of this don't you have him under constant surveillance 'Lord Hokage'? Surly your spies would have informed you if such suspicions actions were true." I open an eye to look at the Seventh lord.
"I guess, but we should still consult him, maybe he will know a thing or two to help us." He added.
I chuckled.
"What makes you think he'll help you?" I chuckle.
"Ukai!" Father gave me a stern look.
"Oh, save the lecture," I wave him off standing.
"I'm not a scared little boy anymore, and giving me the stink eye isn't going to shut me up like it used to." I hiss at him.
As I stood in front of him I could tell I was as tall as him. Well, maybe a few cms shorter but still. I had matured perfectly over these 10 years. My shoulders were broad and I had a good amount of muscle. I was strong, my face and jawline had shaped nicely and my voice sounded like someone mixed Father's and Lord Naruto's voices together, it was even but rough.
"I haven't forgiven you, but right now, the mission and MY Mother, come first," I mumble to him.
"Hmm. In order to track Shin's whereabouts, it will be helpful to learn all that we can from Orochimaru, let's head over to his research lab." Father began to walk away from me.
"Assuming he'll tell us anything." I began to follow.
"Wait, Dad!" Sarada stood.
"What is it?" Father turned to the brat.
"How~ how can you and Ukai be so calm right now? Don't you care at all about how Mom is doing?" Sarada looked back and forth between Father and me.

'The nerve! She's my mother too, brat!'
'Tsk!' I clicked my tounge at my sister.
Lord Naruto tried to explain something to Sarada but Father cut him off.
"Personal feelings don't matter. Emotions will only get in the way of a mission, you should remember that if you wanna be a shinobi." Father lectured.
"Cut the brat some slack, you weren't around to teach her that remember, she doesn't know any better," I tell my father.
Father looked at me before at Sarada. I still remember when he taught me that lesson. It's not something I think this brat would have passed.
"Let's go," Father then added.
"Maybe you two should come with us, what do you say?" Lord Naruto said to Sarada and her friend.
"Naruto come on..."
"You can't be serious?" Father and I say at the same time.
"Remember they came after Sarada as well, so I think it will be safer if we all stay together you know." Lord Naruto added.
"Do what you want," Father said turning.
I scoffed and folded my arms.
'Two little girls, what help are they ganna be? Are they even in the academy yet?'
"It's decided then, we leave at daybreak." lord Naruto finished.
I rolled my eyes, looking down at Sarada as she looked at me before I teleported out of the building and back onto the roof. I watched Father exit the building and look around.
"Ten years. You've been out here, all by yourself for ten years and you haven't changed a bit," I mumble looking over the night sky.
He looked up at me and me down at him. I narrowed my eyes and turned my head away, bringing one knee up to my chest and resting my arm on it. Father then appeared on the roof next to me, looking down at me before speaking.
"But you have," He said.
"Wow, I didn't think you'd noticed," I say.
There was an awkward silence for a few seconds before Father spoke again.
"Why did you do it?" Father asked.
"Do what?"
"Runaway."
"Tsk!" I stood, walking to the opposite side of the roof and placing my hands on my hips.
"Ukai answer me," Father said softly, not with anger but sorrow.
The funny thing was, he gave that whole speech to Sarada about how emotions get in the way, and here he was being so open with me.

"Does it matter?" I look over my shoulder at him.
"Yes." Father watched me.
I chuckle dryly before answering him.
"At first, it was to chase after you," I say turning to him.
"After, our fight..." I clenched my fists.
"I went home, but no matter what I told myself, about how I should hate you, how if you were going to leave I should cut you out and try to be there as best I could for Mom and Sarada, I couldn't let you go, I couldn't just watch my Father walk away. So I told myself I'd go with you." I look at my Father.
"That I was going to stand and fight beside my father no matter what, and if he didn't want me there, if you wanted to get rid of me you'd have to kill me," I add, chuckling again.
Father dropped his gaze as he listened to me.
"And today I found you, it took me ten years, but I had finally found my Father." I finish.
I walked past him, jumping down and heading back into the building. I jumped up onto one of the pillars in the roof, leaning back against the wall and closing my eyes.
"Go on." I heard Lord Naruto speak as he walked closer to me.
"But, what if he doesn't want to talk to me?" Sarada's voice sounded.
"He's your brother Sarada, just try." Ugh, great.
"Ok, Umm Ukai?" Sarada called up to me.
"What?" I call back.
"Umm, I was... uh~ I wanted to know if I could talk to you?" She asked again.
"About?" I add.
"Mom." She said.
"Oh, you mean you want to know from me if you're really Sasuke's and Sakura's child, seen as no one else will tell you." I laugh.
"How~" She stammered.
"I heard you try to speak with Father about it."
"Oh, well, is she? Is mom, my real mom?"
"Let me ask you this," I open my eyes and shift so I sat on the pillar looking down at her.
"What makes you think she's not?" I tilt my head at her.
"I wear glasses, but neither mom or dad or you wear glasses, then I found this photo." She held one up.
I activated my Sharingan, enhancing my vision and zooming in so I could examine the picture.
"Oh right, the woman who does have the same glasses as you." I throw the photo back at her.
"Has it ever occurred to you that maybe you just need them and we don't? That maybe it was your health and not your blood relations." I smirk down at her.
"How do you mean." She asked.
"Every child has to build their immune system brat, every child gets sick, and you, well you just got really sick." I lean back on the pillar.
"Really?" She asked.
"The sickness, the fever affected your eyes, so you needed glasses, and they just happen to be the same make as hers. That doesn't mean you're her child." I hiss.
"You look like our parents. You have Mother's physique while you physically look more like Father. They are your parents, how you can't see that I'll never know but whether or not you choose to accept that is entirely up to you," I say leaning back against the wall and closing my eyes again.
"Oh... Ok~" I heard Sarada whisper.
"Anything else?" I breathe.
"One more thing, why were you never home?" She asked.
I opened my eyes and looked down at her.
"Why does it matter?" I ask.
"Well, you're my brother," She added.
"Mom never spoke of you or dad, and the only photo I have of you is this." She held up the picture that stood on my nightstand.
I jumped down in front of her and she jumped, gulping as she looked up at me. I took the picture from her, looking over all the cuts and scratches on it. I sighed, pulling a picture of both of us out of my pocket and handing them both to her.
"Then here's another." I say.
She looked at the photo I gave her before she smiled sweetly at me. I rolled my eye, jumping back up into the roof structure. I watched Sarada look down at the pictures before hugging them to her chest and walking away.
'Wow, she hasn't changed a bit.' I smiled to myself before everyone retired.
