《Is it worth it? (Naruto fanfic)》xoxoTOMATO-RICEBALLSxoxo

it was a year later with naruto seven almost eight and 16 in his anbu persona that the constant stream of s class distractions caused him to become the youngest anbu general in the elemental nations.
this little fact was only known by danzo and the hokage because nobody else knew of his status or his actual age.
the team mates who had "defected" hadn't contacted him yet, and his nerves were worn extremely thin, especially now that he had the job of training the new anbu recruits and having this job meant he had to use his voice, his childish voice was hidden behind a genjutsu that had there been any uchiha left would have been instantly discovered.
dashing along the roof tops i carefully used shadow step at the uchiha compound to make sure nobody saw me enter and double checked the extremely advanced genjutsu henge mix that I used to keep the body of naru.
its normally a simple henge genjutsu mix however when one enters the compound of the uchiha you know to take extra precautions. i wasn't wearing the mask of anbu either just had the pants and the katana and a white long sleeve shirt
not that sasuke would remember this naru persona either, not until he got his sharingan.
I went to the only house with the lights on, the extremely familiar house of itachi uchiha one of my two best friends left on this earth.
entering through the kitchen window and checked the fridge and as usual I restocked it ignoring the 9 yr old who was trying to be stealthy.
i turned around grinning at him happily as he leapt at me, catching him in my now 16 yr old arms i put him on my shoulders while i cooked him a dinner of tomato rice balls and my own plain with salt.

he's only got 3 more years of academy left and then he becomes a ninja, i think jiji hasn't let him graduate yet because he doesn't want him to leave the leaf village early and find a way to hate it.
after dinner I took the excitable uchiha out to the clan training grounds and watched him practice.
grimacing slightly at doing itachi's job. I placed the knackered kid in bed, telling him all about the missions we did in anbu.
in a way that he didn't even realise i was talking about his brother.
"it was one of the more memorable missions i went on with karasu and kuma." i began
the job was for us to protect a feudal lord from enemy ninja and such, the difficulty of this was A rank.
however in order to give the genin experience the hokage told them it was a C rank mission and it was my teams job to protect them all at any cost and not be found.
the feudal lord however was carrying an supposedly extremely valuable item, which he bought off the enemy ninja.
the whole mission consisted of us anbu attempting to infiltrate the camp without alerting the jonin and steal this valuable artefact that was actually a bomb set to go off when he reached the gathering of feudal lords.
i trailed off as he fell asleep, huh, i guess i can continue this another time.
frowning again i placed the genjutsu on the kid again, he won't remember me unless something jogs his memory or he directly sees me or he unlocks his sharingan.
i know its cruel but otherwise the kid will learn to hate the leaf that took his brothers, i had told him of course why his brothers left and then i promptly made him forget.

whenever he sees me though its like he never forgot and when i recast it its like he doesn't think about why the fridge is always stocked or why he's so good with shuriken.
its cruel, but otherwise danzo would know he knew and have the yamanakas really wipe his memory which he can legally do until the kids got the sharingan, once he has that the yamanakas techniques don't work and the genjutsu will break on its own.
tucking the kid in i did his washing and put all his stuff away, this was the first time in months i'd been around for me to do anything for him other than restock the fridge.
and its quite possibly the last time as well, as today i would be heading off to the falls to meet with zabuza and haku to continue my training and if i have it my way, bring them back to the leaf.

Et Non Lucem
A lonely fortress, a (slightly) deranged assassin, secrets, intrigue, magic and war. What could possible go wrong? If you've ever wondered what would happen if somebody attempted to blend a realistic medieval world with fantasy, then this is for you. If you've ever wondered what happens when you stick some (extremely) flawed humans into positions of power and try making them save the world, then this story is for you. Or if you're simply bored and can't seem to decide on a new story to read, then this story is for you! This is my first ever attempt at writing a story after years and years of reading, so any and all constrictive criticism is appreciated!
