《Winter Wonderland》The Merchant from the Depths: part 31

"Oh, hey" Jack waved. "You're joining us for morning practice?" Jack asked. He was on a bench, doing some stretches to prepare for the morning practice.
Yuuna and Y/n were in the Amaryllis P.E uniform, which consists of a white T-shirt and a skort. Which were clothes for flexibility, and a skirt to cover their curvy body. Don't want those horny boys to get horny thoughts.
"I coulda used several more winks, but Ruggie wasn't havin' it" Grim complained, yawning a little.
"Since we've got these freshmen crashing with us, let's make today a light game. Go easy on 'em" Ruggie said, telling his dormmates.
Leona let out a yawn as Y/n tied his hair in a low ponytail. "All this standin' around is gonna make me fall asleep again" Leona mumbled, laying his head on Y/n's head since uh, we kinda short. "Let's get on with it" he grumbled as Ruggie dragged him to the court.
Let's the morning practice begin!
Leona let out another yawn.
"Hey, he thinks he can take us while he's still half-asleep," Grim says, as Y/n gets her whistle ready.
"Hah. Forget half-asleep- I could take ya while I'm fully in dreamland" Leona smirked with Y/n sweatdropped at him bragging.
"Okay, let's get this party started!" Ruggie cheered as Y/n blew into her whistle, signaling that the game was started.
"Jack, you gotta pass to me more often!" Grim explained.
Jack let out a hmph.
"If you want it, then up your game Grim!" Y/n shouted. After all, she was training them. "Defense will take it from you if you let them!"
"Uh, if we let Leona get more bored, he's seriously gonna fall asleep" Ruggie warned. He turned to Leona who was already asleep...standing up. "Scratch that- he's already out like a light!" Ruggie yelped. Everyone sweatdropped while Y/n had a dumbfounded expression.
"Wake up, Kitty!" Y/n shouted, blowing her whistle to wake him up.
"Woohoo! Feel the wrath of my super-special explosive shot!" Grim said, trying to throw the disc but nothing happened. "Wait, what?"
"Don't try to do my famous moves for a noobie like you" Y/n yelled.
"Well, that woke me up" Leona grumbled a bit.
"I think it's about time to wind things down," said Ruggie.
"This was great practice! Thank you!" Jack thanked, completely energized. "Whaaat?! But I wanna keep goin'!" Grim whined.
"Who knew a morning workout could feel so good?" Grim said, his tiredness he felt from when he woke up washed away. "I'm alive, I tell ya, Aliiive!" he shouted.
"Right? 'S why I get up an hour earlier that this into get some jogging in" Jack smiled, petting a huffing Yuuna who drank some ice water that Y/n gave her. Gotta say hydrated.
"O-okay, that might be a little overboard" Grim sweatdropped. "So Savanaclaw Dorm's already trainin' hard for next year's interdorms, huh? Looks like Amaryllis will have some worthy rivals" the raccoon grinned.
"oh, I guess you guys haven't heard yet besides Y/n here. Every May, we have an even bigger Spelldrive event that the interdorm tournament" Ruggie told them as he walked over.
"MRAH! It gets even bigger than that?!" Grim exclaimed at Yuuna flinched in shock.
"h-huh?" she questioned.
"Yup. It's the interscholastic games" Leona answered, joining in on their conversation.

"The...what, now?" Yuuna perked an eye-brow. "oh yeah, this isn't the only magic school, huh" she said.
"As the name suggests, it's a Spelldrive event where different schools compete" Ruggie smirked.
"Our school always plays against Royal Sword Academy" Leona said. Y/n's feathered ears perked up. To be honest, she, herself, didn't know why she was so happy about the mention of the school's name. Maybe because she has a secret that would be revealed soon.
"Ooh, I've heard of them!" Grim explained.
"Twisted Wonderland's got a number of educational institutions for cultivatin' magicians. Night Raven College, Royal Sword Academy, and Seraphina University are particularly prestigious. We're basically known as the big two while SU is number one." Ruggie explained.
"So, what's Royal Sword Academy like?" Yuuna asked. Y/n chuckled a bit.
"It's a school for pampered lordings that's fulla snooty, scrawny wimps" Leona explained, a sour taste lingering inside of his mouth.
"Shihihihi" Ruggie laughed. "What he said. Their campus 'n uniforms are all shiny and sparkly. Talk about lame! Can you imagine how much a single scuff would stand out on a white uniform? I know they're supposed to be a big deal, but I wouldn't go there even if they begged me." Ruggie then noticed the look on Y/n face. "Hm? What's with that look, Y/n?" he asked.
"Huh?" Y/n questioned.
"The look you were making when we were talking about Royal Sword Academy"
"Well, it's not known, nor it is really that cool, but, I personally know the headmaster of Royal Sword" Y/n answered.
"eh?!"
"You do? How?" asked Yuuna.
"Well. Headmaster of Royal Sword Academy is actually one of my disciples. That little rascal was personally trained by me 150 years ago." Y/n said.
"Your disciple?!"
"W-wait, so you taught the enemy school's headmaster about magic?" questioned Ruggie.
"Yep. But my goodness, Night Raven College and Royal Sword Academy were best friends until 100 years ago." Y/n let out a sigh.
"Did the rivalry start when Night Raven College lost the interscholastics from the past hundred years running?" asked Jack.
"Grk! W-well..." Ruggie trailed off. "We're only at 99 so far! You can bet your tail we'll win this year. Hundredth time's the charm! Espeically since THE legendary Camelius is attending OUR school" Ruggie exclaim, totally not bragging about Y/n.
"You guys sure are confident..." Yuuna mumbled.
"Well, it's understandable since there is a high chance of me being on the team" Y/n chuckled.
"Hmm, from what I've seen watching the interscholastics on TV...Royal Sword Academy's roster of players are individually outstanding, but that's not why they dominate" Jack mentioned.
"The real key is their incredible teamwork" Y/n added.
"Hey, wait a minute. If we're talkin' interscholastics here...Does that mean it'll be more 'n just Savanaclaw? Will the other dorms be goin' up against Royal Sword Academy, too?" Grim asks.
"Indeed. Each dorm contributes a player into one big team that represents the school" Y/n explain, petting Grim who is in Yuuna's arms. A certain lion felt a bit jealous, wishing that she was petting him. He'll just have to get one later.
"Sounds like personality clashes waiting to happen..." Yuuna mumbled as Y/n chuckled. "haha...that team REALLY wouldn't have any room for quarrels" Y/n added.

"Last year, the team broke out into a brawl before the game even started, just from arguing over who got what position" Leona said with a sigh.
"Hah! I like their moxie. If you want a position, you gotta fight for it! I'll make sure I get picked as a school rep!" Grim pumpe his paw in the air.
"That's not how a team should operate..." Y/n sighed. "NRC fighting over positions is exactly why Royal Sword Academy wins" she mumbled.
The Savanaclaw trio groaned, each of their ears pinned down at Y/n's brutal honesty. Man, if she was on the team, she will not have any mercy on those who fight over which position they get. She'll rule with a iron fist.
"If you wanna strut your stuff and make a good case for gettin' picked, the best way to do that is to stick to your daily practice" Jack told Grim.
"The interscholastics get high TV ratings than the interdorms, so it's a prime chance to get scouted for the pro leagues!" Ruggie exclaimed.
"You'd better start thinking now about what you're gonna do to beat out the competition and land a team spot" Leona advised.
"The interscholastic games, huh...?" Yuuna mumbled.
"Nothing beats a good breakfast after workin' up a sweat!" Grim cheered happily. "Grim craves protein- bring on the MEAT!"
"So, like, what were you thinking, cuttin' a deal with that cephalo-punk? How stupid can you get?" Leona asked with a growl. Y/n also let out a growl, but it was different. It was a signal between dragons to calm down, but since Leona was a lion, not a dragon, he wouldn't have been able to understand if he wasn't one of Y/n's soulmate. "Now you're crampin' MY style as a result since I got my favorite pillow," Leona said, calming down a bit.
Malleus who was sitting with his friends, grew a jealous aura, which only calmed down when Y/n sent him a message to calm down as well. She can hear him lol. Lilia chuckled as he teased his 'son' about it while his other 'son' scolded him, which was Silver doing the scolding as Sebek just rambled about being respectable to Lilia-sama.
"Well, it's like this..." Yuuna then started to explain on why she signed the contract.
"Hah! You made a deal to free al the chumps who contracted with him to get ahead in their finals?" Leona had a really hard time trying to stop his own laughter. "BAH HA HA! That's rich. I shudder to imagine being that dumb" he laughed.
"Stop laughing so much, Kitty. You're gonna make me laugh too" Y/n said, coughing a bit to stop her laughs.
Yuuna sweatdropped a bit, looking down at her hands. "Rumor has it that Azul's study guide is the real deal, though" Ruggie recalled the rumors he heard. "I kinda get why people would wanna get their hands on that"
"So you guys steered clear of Azul's scheme, huh?" Jack mumbled. "I figured you'd go for the easiest out you could get, Leona...ah, no offense, of course"
"Are you kidding?" Leona perked an eyebrow. "Who in their right mind would voluntarily keep making deals with that swindler? I've made a few deals and paid the piper for 'em. There's always a steep catch"
"Yeah, he ain't the kinda guy you wanna turn to as your first resort" Ruggie chuckled. "He's definitely a capable magican, though. He can grant some real tall orders just like that"
'Ursula wannabe' Y/n mumbled.
"The guy who wants something outta a deal is always the one at a disadvantage. That's Negotiating 101" Leona says. "WHen dimwitted herbivores sign a contract on a whim, they always end up getting suckered somehow"
"Now I'm getting nervous" Yuuna mumbled. "Can I really win this bet...? A-and save...[nickname]?"
"Save Y/n?" Leona ear twitched a bit. "Y'know what? Let's hear it. What were your terms, exactly?"
Yuuna started to fill them in about the condition regarding the contract, including how that if Yuuna doesn't do her end of the deal, Amaryllis and Y/n will be in the hands of Azul.
"Before the sun sets on the third day after signing..." Leona started off.
"You have to sneak into the Atlantica Memorial Museum, steal a photo, and bring it back?" Ruggie continued.
Ruggie and Leona then grew quite.
"Boy...Stinks to be you" Ruggie declared.
"Hey, we ain't even gotten started yet! Don't go jinxin' us!" Grim hissed as Yuuna pouted.
"Isn't the Atlantica Memorial Museum underwater? How are you gonna get there, brainiac?" Ruggie asked.
"Azul-senpai gave us a potion that will allow us to breathe underwater" Yuuna replied.
"No idea how well they work, though" Jack added.
"Huh If Azul gave 'em to you, they probably work just fine" Ruggie spoke in a nonchatanted voice. "He's got pride. I doubt he'd ever give someone wonky potion"
"Hm..." Leona trailed off. "I'd get the ball rollin' now, if I were you. Time is money, as they say"
"Myah! Good idea! Hey, Yuuna, let's hit up the Atlantica Memorial Museum right now!" Grim announced.
"Good call. With only three days, we don't have any leeway here" Jack says, standing up from his seat.
"I'm bringin' Ace and Deuce along, too Let's mosey!" Grim hopped onto Yuuna's shoulder as the her and Jack went to find Ace and Deuce.
"Wait! Come up with a plan first and-.... and there they go..." Y/n sighed, as the ones left behind watch Jack and Yuuna run off.
"Welp, they're gone. I gotta say, Leona- you're a real piece of work" Ruggie teased, laughing a bit.
"Hah. I've got no idea what you're talkin' about" Leona smirked.
"by the way, Y/n, why aren't going with them?" Ruggie asked.
"I kinda tired...but a certain lion won't let go of me!" Y/n whined. Ruggie looked to Leona who had a hold on Y/n waist to keep her seated. When Leona noticed Ruggie's look, he turned his head to the other direction.
"Hahaha. I see~" Ruggie chuckled as Leona turned red.
"Malleus, calm down" Lilia scolded the dragon, who huffed in annoyance, crossing his arms. "Who does he think he is?! Being all lovely dovey to my queen!" Malleus said, irk marks all over his face.
"Malleus, you must let your possessive side get to you, after all, Mr. Kingscholar is also her soulmate. You had no problem with Rosehearts being tough with her" the vampire fae said.
"Silver, Sebek, help me calm down Malleus!"
"Yes, father"
"YES, MASTER LILIA"

A Fool's Journey, or the Vagrancies of a Man in Exotic Lands
What does a sad bastard do when fate, literally, decides to throw him into a fantasy world? Solon just wanted to lead a normal life; work, share some pizza with friends, work, play some videogames or read something, work, maybe sleep?, work... Pretty much the usual, rinse and repeat. It was far from perfect, but life was nicely boring and comfy enough. Truth be told, he had hoped it would go on forever, or until he got married, or until the apocalypse finally decided to bring an end to everything. As far as he could tell, though, the former was about as likely as the latter; not very. And perhaps even somewhat related, if it ever came to it. Unfortunately, he saw himself involved in some sort of cosmic fart that screwed him over, brutally severing his life-plan. Or, maybe, would it be more suitable to say that Fate had other plans? Sure, he's yet to find out exactly what those plans might be, but, at the very least, they do seem to involve him being shoved into another world, fighting off a couple of horrendous creepers, and -almost- an accidental liaison with a baboon. Needless to say, the job doesn't come with dental care, and death seems more likely than retirement... Yep, when he got yoinked out of Earth, there were no princesses waiting for him, no sexy goddesses, and no severe Gandalf-wannabes! Heck, not even a bunch of demonic cultists! All he got for the trouble was a bunch of snarky windows and the honest desire to punch whatever bastard happens to be behind the smug System. Well, that, and a few forced trips to the so-called Tower of Ascension. Not exactly what he would have expected but, on the plus side, he does get to do some magic. Though, not quite the wand-waving kind. Whatever. One thing’s patently clear, though, he’s certainly not the chosen one, nor the summoned hero, nor the Savior. If anything, he himself might be in need of some saving... Just what kind of fool does the System take him for? Please do consider the tags. Also, 'Strong Lead' here means weak to strong, over a decent amount of time, not op from the very beginning. Things to expect: decent grammar, cheeky goats. Things not to expect: Harems, a decent sense of fashion.
