《Let's fall in love (Story By PINKI)》Chapter 19

One week later, Khushi ran around the kitchen, trying to prepare dinner for everyone. Naniji, Anjali and Shyam were back and the house felt alive again' not like it didn't when Arnav was around, she thought amused. He may not run around the house and do stupid things for her but he definitely knew how to make her feel alive and young. Since they had come back from the reception party, he didnt leave her side. Even when she had told him that she wasn't going to go to work as Naniji guys were coming back, he had promised her that they would both go pick them up from the airport instead of leaving her behind at home so she could finish up some housework.
Ready to dig her hands into the flour to make the dough for the roti, her gaze fell to her left hand and she looked at the diamond glistening on her ring finger. She took it off and placed it on the counter as she went ahead to finish up the dough but as her eyes kept looking towards the ring laying on the counter along with her wedding band, her mind drifted back to the day Arnav had surprised her with it.
As they both had left work that day, Arnav had told her that he made reservations at a restaurant to go eat out. She thanked all her gods and smiled broadly while he looked at her expressions, slightly bemused wondering why she was so excited all of a sudden.
"What???!! I don't have to cook today!! Na nana na na'" she sang happily while Arnav looked over at her as if she had lost it. She was way too hyper for the day and he wondered if he should have picked a different day to do this.
"Uh huh.." was all he muttered as he sat in his seat, shifting uncomfortably, not sure how she was going to react when they got to the restaurant.
As they both walked in, Khushi noticed it was the same place where her and Arnav had met for the first time and she looked up at him wondering if he did this on purpose but he just looked ahead and walked right through. Ofcourse he wouldn't remember... he was too busy on his phone that day...she thought grumpily.
"Ummm' shouldn't there be anybody at the front? Don't we need to tell someone" But her voice trailed off as she realized that the restaurant was absolutely empty and there was only one booth lit up- the same booth where they had sat for the first time.
She whispered his name as she dazedly walked up to the table, while he stood back looking at her reaction, wondering if she remembered this was the same place where he had seen her the very first time. She dazedly touched the table, remembering her last time there. No she wasn't going to think about Karan, she chided herself, he had no place in her life anymore. Today, it was just her and Arnav, the guy who could her feel all giddy with just that tiny smile of his.
Her eyes moved to the centre of the table, which had the biggest bouquet of white daisies and red roses- her favourite and she stood speechless wondering what was going on. As she turned around to look at Arnav, her jaw almost dropped to the ground, seeing him infront on her on one knee.
Panicking, she fell to the ground beside him and touched all over his face and knees wondering if he was hurt.

Only Khushi could ruin a moment like this, he thought amusedly.
"I am fine Khushi" and she sighed in relief.
"Then what the hell are you doing on your knees in a restaurant?" she almost screamed at him and looked around immediately wondering if anyone heard her but the next second realizing they were all alone. Why were they all alone during rush hour' she wondered. Moving closer to him on the ground, she started whispering in his ears.
"Arnav... I think something's wrong... why is this place empty at 5 pm? I don't think it's safe to eat here... maybe this place is undergoing a food inspection or something... maybe they have a mice problem... the ground is probably dirty too... I was just reading yesterday about the the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) doing random..." but he didn't let her complete her sentence as he pulled her towards him and silenced her with his lips.
When her eyes widened as large as saucers, he released her and smirked.
"You talk too much sometimes" he pointed out and she pouted.
"Sure. But I still think something is..."
"Khushi, shut up!" and she finally stilled, looking up at him, pouting even more and now almost ready to cry.
"Oh my god' Khushi please... don't... please sweetheart" he whispered as he got up and pulled her onto his lap while he sat in the booth. She looked up at him awkwardly and tried to move away from him but he held onto her tighter.
"Can I talk now?" he asked and she nodded like a little kid, still observing their surroundings, her eyebrows furrowed. Placing her on the seat, he got up and kneeled down in front of her again and as she tried to open her mouth to tell him to get off the ground as it may be dirty, he silenced her with his eyes and she sat back, observing the empty place.
"Did anyone ever tell you that you know how to ruin a perfect moment?"
She pouted some more, her bottom lip pushed out as much as she could manage. She shook her head up and down, agreeing with him and he just rolled his eyes at her laughing.
"OK. Anywhoo.. the reason we came here is... because I..." As he stumbled on his words, Khushi looked down at him, her one eyebrow raised. This was definitely harder than he thought. Taking a deep breath, he looked up at her and noticing his serious expression, her heart beat faster. Oh shit! hes's not doing what I think he's doing now is he? She thought a little worriedly.
"There are a lot of things that didn't happen properly in our marriage... And you deserve to have it all. Even though we started off not knowing anything about each other, we have learnt a lot over these past couple of months and I wanted to tell you today, that I never regretted the decision I took that day. Yes, maybe that day I might have done everything in haste but I knew we could make this work and I am truly lucky to have you with me. " As he smiled up at her, a tear slipped down her cheek. Shaking his head in a no, he pulled a tiny blue box from his suit jacket and opened it for her and she gasped.
He sat there with a sparkling tiffany ring which was at least over 2 carats. The single large stone engraved in a white gold band. Along with it, was a plain separate wedding band to go with it.

"I knew you wouldn't like anything too flashy... is the plain band ok? We can get a different one if you want..." And this time she shut him up as she dropped on her knees on the ground in front of him and placed her lips on his. Saying she was moved by his gesture was an understatement. She knew there were things that didn't happen properly with their wedding but all that didn't matter as she had him and that's all she needed. As she pulled away from him, he smiled at her and grabbing her left hand, slipped the wedding band first and then the diamond ring.
"You didn't have to do this you know" she whispered and he finally stood up, taking her along with him and pulled her into a hug, holding her tight.
"I know' but I wanted to'" was all he said.
Two hours later, they had walked out of the restaurant, hand in hand, and she couldn't believe everything that had happened. He had reserved the whole restaurant just to be with her and he actually remembered everything from where they sat to what they talked about, including her clothes and everything and she just sat there, her heart swelling more with each passing second looking at that smile on his face which she realized was because of her.
As she finished with the dough, she washed the rest of the dishes smiling. She turned around, a smile still plastered on her face, but she almost screamed when she bumped into a hard chest which was definitely not her husband's. The smile vanished in a second when she felt Shyam's hands on her back, steadying her. As she looked into his eyes, she shivered noticing the coldness in them but it vanished and the next second, he smiled broadly at her.
"I am sorry Khushi. I didn't think you were going to turn around so fast. I hope I didn't scare you" he asked, looking into her eyes and before she could ponder on the unfriendliness of his tone, Anjali walked in and looked at their awkward position.
As Khushi was about to pull away, Shyam moved back and apologized to her and explained to Anjali what happened. As he walked Anjali out of the kitchen, Khushi stared at their retreating backs. They seemed like a happy couple, she noted with the way Shyam's arm was draped around Anjali, whispering something into her ear which made her blush.
Ok, am just being paranoid... maybe he's just a bit weird... doesn't mean there is something wrong with him Khushi! she chided herself and walked into the dinning area with the food.
****************************************************
"Arnav..." she nudged while he typed away furiously on the laptop.
"Hmmm..."
"Arrrnnnaaavvv" she sang sitting beside him when he didn't seem to pay attention to her.
"Khushi... you know the bidding closes on this new building lease in an hour... let me just finish up with these lawyer papers and then you can proofread them for me" he winked at her and went back to his work.
For the next half hour, she sat and fiddled around. Sometimes pulling his hair, sometimes his cheeks. She made weird coughing sounds and finally when he didn't look at her, she sulked and decided to watch TV. When she finally found something decent to watch, Arnav pushed the laptop towards her and motioned with his eyes for her to look over the stuff. Giving him a pout, she turned her back towards him and started reading over the legal documents, highlighting any changes she thought were needed, having no idea on the plans Arnav seemed to have up his sleeves.
As she finally concentrated on the documents in front of her, she felt a butterfly touch on her shoulder and she twitched. A few seconds later it happened again and this time, she felt her hair being moved to one side. Turning around, she glared at Arnav, and went back to doing her thing, reminding him how she only had half an hour, but that didn't seem to make a difference. Taking a few deep breaths, she started reading again when she felt a light touch on her neck and as she looked over her shoulder to give him a dirty look for distracting her, her heart almost stopped, seeing his head bent on her shoulder and Arnav tracing the back of her neck with his nose. Don't pay attention to what he's doing...don't get distracted.. she lectured herself as he drew patterns with his nose behind her neck moving up to her ear, occasionally dropping light kisses here and there.
"I'm done" she told him which came out a little too loudly. She turned around abruptly and felt her blood pressure rising seeing that smirk on his face as he grabbed the laptop and looked over her highlighted items, nonchalantly.
Jerk... she muttered under her breath as she walked out of their room towards the poolside area and it felt good to stand outside. Her body temperature all of a sudden felt a little too high and she needed to cool it down before she went back in there. She almost wished it was winter and it would be snowing outside just so that she could get her body to a freezing temperature since that husband of hers was a walking around furnace that could get her body burning within seconds.
Sitting on one of the lounge chairs, she leaned her head back and closed her eyes- the past few months flying through her head: Arnav taking care of her, his smile, his touches, his kisses...Think of devil...she almost laughed out loud when she felt him come and sit by her.
"Care to share the joke?" but when she nodded her head in a no, he shrugged and was about to get up and walk back into their room when he felt her hand take a hold of his hand and he smiled.
Over the past week, he realized she was much more comfortable with him. Even if nothing intimate, she touched him quite frequently; she ruffled his hair when she'd walk by him, pinch his cheeks, if lucky he'd get a peck on the cheek too. Last week when she had disrupted their 'moment', he knew she wasn't cold as the temperature outside was over 30 degrees but it was more so to control things before they got out of hand and he knew, they would have if she wouldn't have stopped him.
"You're kind cute, you know" she told him as she stared at him intently.
"Well thank you" he responded a little awkwardly. "You couldn't come up with a more manlier word than that?"
"Nah' your just cute'" she told him as she ruffled his hair and walked back into their room but she didn't get far when she felt his arms around her waist and he pulled her against him, her back against his chest.
"Don't you want to know what I think of you?" he whispered, his lips played with her earlobes and she could feel her heart beating out of control again.
"No I'll pass" she replied sweetly and tried to move away but he held on as he caught her earlobe between his teeth and pulled. She shuddered when she felt his teeth nip and tuck the one earlobe lazily.
"I can't seem to keep my hands off you' you're going to drive me crazy" he murmured while his one hand moved up her ribs and the other moved dangerously lower.
"Humne kyaa kiyaa'." She replied shakily knowing exactly what she was doing to him and the effect that she seemed to have over her husband.
"I need to tell you something'" She looked up, hearing the seriousness in his voice and realized that they were now standing in front of the tall mirror in their room, both facing it. His right hand fingers were hooked in the waistline of her pajamas whereas his left hand settled just below her breasts. Her hands tightly held onto his wrists and she waited with a bated breath, hoping she could hear whatever he was going to say over the loud pounding of her heart.
Hello lovely people! Ok I lied. I didn't start the chapter where I left off last time but I had to atleast get one of them to confess first, now didn't I? And in my story, Arnav has to do it since he can't seem to get his act straight in the actual show and Khushi gets to slack off mwahahaha.
Let me know what you guys think!
