"So, I can go home early today?" My hand that was placed around the strap of my bag clenched, as I glanced at the closed sign of the convenience store I was going to work in today.
"Early? You won't work at all today, stop talking nonsense." My boss shook his head. His glasses were sitting low on his nose, "Why would you work on Thanksgiving? Go celebrate with your family and stop bothering me. I'm late as it is."
Celebrate. Family.
Two of my favorite words.
Something about hearing them made my stomach hurt.
"Thank you and I apologize." I quickly bowed, looking around flustered, "Things have been a little stressful for me so I forgot—"
The adult just walked past me angrily, cursing to himself here and then while I continued to stay on the same spot as 2 minutes ago.
I didn't know what to do.
It's a national holiday, meaning that most businesses and schools are closed.
And that means that probably all of my part-time jobs are closed.
Meaning I'm free today.
But why am I not happy?
"Fuck." I looked up to the sky, my neck feeling strained as a sarcastic, almost self-pitying smile made its way up to my face, "I'm so lonely."
I looked down to my phone again, my battery was almost empty and the next bus would take another 30 minutes of waiting.
I didn't want to go home.
Just when I was about to let out a sigh in despair, my phone rang loudly, startling me. I quickly picked up, my head was clouded by loneliness. I didn't even think twice and didn't even read the caller's ID.
My eyes widened at how different his voice sounded.
Sleepy. Tired.
But still, nice.
My voice couldn't conceal the fact that I was happy.

I smiled sheepishly as if he could see me, putting on the flirtiest voice I could do.
It was quiet for more than a minute, before Jungwon finally talked.
That caught me off guard.
I almost dropped my phone, instinctively looking around to make sure no one was around before I yelled.
He chuckled, amused by my panicking.
His voice was playful and gentle, causing my mind to be at ease for a second.
That's when my call displaytransitioned to the facetime call request.
I hesitated at first before I finally accepted, as I was
keeping my thumb on top of my front camera to cover up my face.
For safety and sanity purposes.
I heard Jungwon chuckle softly before it turned into full laughter.
I finally spoke up and mumbled nervously, my hands shaking as I glanced at my phone screen to look at his face. It felt illegal to look at him.
Jungwon questioned with a raised eyebrow after I turned on my back camera.
I ranted, shrugging at the same time.
There was a short silence again as I watched the realization on his face becoming visible.
I quickly reassured him, continuing to look at him.
More like stare, but I won't comment on that any further.
His hair was slightly messy. Just a little.
It looked intentional. Each strand of his hair looked great. And despite being tired, his eyes still shone beautifully.
And his eyebrows.
His nose.
The way he was smiling.
Everything just looked right.
Without a doubt, he was good-looking.
Not in a million years I will ever show my face to him.
I shook my head to help myself snap out of it.
It was then when I noticed his background.
It was a practice room.
A similar one to the ones in all of his dance practice videos.

My voice was laced with disbelief and anger.
I could see his smile growing wider.
My voice sounded annoyed as I heard him burst out laughing on the other side of the phone.
Jungwon didn't say anything and just smiled, making me tilt my head at him.
That's when the call was cut off by my phone dying.
Shock was written all of my face as I tried to turn it on again. To no avail.
Sighing, I closed my eyes, remembering his last words before the call ended. I miserably failed to suppress the weak smile creeping up my face.
I couldn't believe it.
"I really want to spend more time with you"
Now it was too late. The previous weak smile quickly grew broader and broader and I ended up letting myself drop to the floor, feeling my face warming up.
This fucker.
