《Adopted by McQueen (humanized) Book One》Chapter 2

I woke up the next day and got ready. I ate breakfast and quickly cleaned up after.
"Why are you cleaning up so fast?" Selena, the popular 12 year old of the orphanage asked.
"Well if I got everything done in time, maybe I could get adopted." I answered.
She chuckled at my response, "You? Getting adopted? You've been adopted and brought back more than the 2nd graders can count. Nobody will adopt you; you'll just rot in this orphanage."
"There are more people in the world that adopt kids. I believe I still have a chance."
"All your chances were wasted on families that never wanted you." She replied, "face it, Chloe. You'll NEVER leave this place."
She walked away and I felt a tear roll down my cheek. I finished cleaning and went up to my room. I collapsed onto my bed and cried into my pillow. I looked up at my poster, praying that McQueen would adopt me.
"KIDS AGES 7-12 COME DOWNSTAIRS!" Mrs. Nelson yelled.
Someone's here to adopt. I put on my Lightning McQueen shirt and hat along with lightning bolt earrings, and a pair of jean shorts (just imagine how cute that would look). I walked downstairs and lined up with the others.
"Mr. McQueen, take your pick." Mrs. Nelson said.
I stood on my tippy toes and saw Lightning McQueen here. I saw Selena in her pretty purple dress and extreme makeup. She turned to me and smirked evilly. I rested my feet and looked at the ground in sadness.
A group of 7-12 year olds lined up in front of me.
"Mr. McQueen, take your pick." Mrs. Nelson told me.
I looked around; none of them impressed me. This one girl drowned in makeup and wearing a purple dress had to be a 12 year old. I'm not ready for those teenage years yet. She looked mean and bossy. I was about to lose all hope.

I looked at the end of the line and saw a little girl with my merchandise on. She was wearing a shirt and hat that had me on it. She looked super cute. I also saw bruises on her arms and legs. Matter a fact, she was the only kid with bruises.
I walked over to her, "hello. What's your name?"
She looked at me and slightly jumped. She must've been surprised to see me.
"My name's Chloe." She answered.
"How old are you?"
"9." She answered.
I petted her head and walked to Mrs. Nelson.
"I've made me decision." I told her."
"ALIGHT KIDS BACK UPSTAIRS!" She yelled.
They went back up stairs one-by-one.
"Come into my office, Mr. McQueen." Mrs. Nelson said.
We sat down in her office.
"Which child have you chosen to adopt?" She asked.
"Chloe." I answered.
Her eyes grew wide; as if she were surprised by my decision.
"I'm sorry. You said Chloe? Chloe the 9 year old?" She asked, as if she wanted me to change my decision.
"Yes." I answered, "She is the one."
She scratched her chin and said, "Chloe wouldn't be the one for you. She's been adopted so many times and brought back within a day. Her chances have worn out."
It was like she wanted Chloe to rot in this place. She was trying to make me change my mind.
"Well maybe those families didn't give her a chance. I'm willing to give her that chance." I said.
"Mr. McQueen." She started, "She really isn't the one-"
"Stop trying to make me change my mind." I snapped, "When I say something, I mean it. I will not change me mind. Now may I have the papers to adopt her?"

She sighed and gave me the papers.
I was laying on my bed staring at the ceiling. Mrs. Nelson barged in.
"Grab your stuff. You have been adopted." She said, "But mark my words Chloe." She said as she grabbed my arms and digging her nails into my skin, "If you are brought back here again, you will suffer the pain of consequences."
"Ow!" I yelled jerking away.
She walked away and I packed my thing fast. The faster I pack, the faster I'll escape this prison. I walked downstairs with my bag and saw Lightning McQueen waiting for me. He was smiling at me. I walked to him and he held my bag.
"Ready to go?" He asked.
I nodded and we left. I'm finally free.

Follow along as this unlikely group of people join forces to help each other accomplish their own goals in this non-epic fantasy adventure. Fair Warning: This fiction contains many of the well-known light novel tropes, though I try to give them my own spin. If you’re tired of them by now, you might want to keep away. There are no demon lords however, nor any end-of-the-world cataclysm situation that only the MC can solve. This story is more about different people coming together and helping each other out to achieve their own goals and objectives.
