Calvin sat cradling his wife in their cabin. She sat up to look at him. "I can't believe Tripp had to go through this. It's horrible." Summer said as she leaned up to kiss him on the neck. "Honey?" She insisted. Calvin finally looked back down at her. "Sorry, I was just thinking about who this killer could be." He had suspected all of them because each of them was more suspicious than the other. He wondered if his cousin had felt the same way.
There was a knock on the door. Summer got up to open it and revealed Giles and Lana. She ushered them in and they all sat in the living room. "I have coffee?" Summer offered. "No thank you, we have something to discuss with you both." Giles patted the chair next to him and Summer finally sat to listen. Giles cleared his throat.
"Well, the most important thing right now is to find out who this killer is." He reached into his pocket and pulled out something dark and round. "This is one of many cameras I have installed in every guest's room. We will no doubt know who the killer is once I watch the footage." He smiled proudly to himself. Calvin shook his head. "No, the killer will be smarter than that. I wouldn't be surprised if they watched you do it and are letting you have your short lived fun."
The group continued to talk about all the things they would need to do moving forward. Not one of them noticed the person watching from the side window. The person dropped down from the deck and ran off into the woods. "You wanna play games Giles? Let's play games."

Jaclyn had been reading for over two hours. She'd always been a lover of books and felt she needed the escape now more than ever. She looked to her left and saw Ethan snoring beside her on the hammock. He had told her all she needed to know from the crime scene and yet they could not figure out the riddle. Jaclyn continued to read. A twig snapped beside her.
Sage walked out of the woods, a book in her hand as well. "I'm sorry, I didn't know anyone-." She looked at Ethan laying beside Jaclyn. "What's going on?" Jaclyn closed her book. Sage was infuriated. Ethan had promised to tell her all of his information from the riddle but had never said anything. Now here he was cuddling with some fucking girl. "He's gay I'm not into him." Jaclyn stated, issuing a glare. "Jealous?" The two girls stared each other down.
Ethan woke up with a jolt. "Jaclyn what are you doing?" He stopped when he saw Sage, arms crossed, standing in front of them. "Have fun with your fuck buddy." Sage whirled around and walked off. Ethan almost fell off the hammock as he slid off. "Wait!" He ran after the retreating girl. "Just wait!" Jaclyn watched them leave.

Jericho and Zayne had been playing a game of pool. Phillip stood beside them, drinking a can of beer. "Why would the riddle be useful if nobody solved it?" Jericho asked as he shot the ball across the table. Zayne leaned down and realized he had to accept his defeat. "They're all lying. Someone here definitely solved the riddle." Phillip said. "My money is on the couple or Greer." He looked over at Jericho. "Please tell me you brought a joint."

Jericho fished in his pocket but his hand came out empty. "Shit! Someone must have taken it. I can't wait to leave this hell hole. Someone is really messing with us." He put down his pool stick and walked over to where Phillip was. Phillip paused staring at the man. "Wait. You don't think Trinity is dead do you? I saw her. She is dead." Jericho tensed. "I'm just saying this is all bullshit."
Zayne sat on the chair opposite them. "We just have to find out who solved the riddle. When we do, we'll have our answers-." He was interrupted when the door flung open and Sherman rushed into the room. "Oh my god! He's dead!" He was flailing his hands. "He's dead and I saw him die and I did nothing! I'm an idiot and I deserve to die!" Sherman flung himself to the ground and started sobbing. "Who's dead?" Zayne asked, standing up quickly. Sherman in between sobs finally answered the question. "The blonde. Cole. Cole! Motherfucker killed him. They killed Cole!"

His devastated parents are reeling from the Recession, his friends are shiftless drunks, and his younger sister has been committed after discovering Jason's body. In an attempt to assuage the trauma his family has experienced and break away from his own shitty existence, Evan decides to grab his portion of the modern American Dream by trying out for that year's American Idol auditions in Nashville. Never mind that Evan's a 21-year-old virgin with a self-image as poor as his social skills. Never mind that he's never even attempted to sing before. In 21st century America, anything is possible, or so Evan's been told by a cultural upbringing of "Follow your dreams" and "Everyone is special" and "True love awaits". Speaking of true love, Evan asks Lily Trent to accompany him on the journey. Lily is a childhood acquaintance with whom he's recently reconnected and developed a crush on. Lately Lily's been working as a stripper, a cynical and jaded young woman who may or may not have her own motivations for joining Evan on the trip. Evan hopes the time alone will spark reciprocal affections in Lily, and an improbable come-from-nowhere triumph on national TV will not only free his family from their blue collar burdens, but win him the respect and love he craves-- not just from others, but from himself. Together, Evan and Lily discover why learning how to fail may be their generation's greatest lesson. Cover art by Gerry Siorek
