《Steam of Britain》Chapter 42: A Tornado

Soon, the year 2008 had come, and Flying Scotsman and Silver Link were in the works being overhauled. The railways hadn't changed much, except for the engines much. Their was now many different lines that were reopened called heritage lines. It's a place where withdrawn steam and diesel engines are put on it to take tourists, and even some goods at times when they are needed. The Steam of Britain Fleet had not been expanding very much. Soon, the time had come, and there was a new engine being build. Bertram was sent to bring her to King's Cross to help out while Scotsman and Silver Link were in the works.
Bertram was very happy to see a new engine. "I wonder what the engine will look like." He then heard a whistle, and was confused. He then saw the doors open, and saw steam coming from the shop! "Wait, they built-" He watched as a large engine coming out of the works. She was apple green, had a 4-6-2 wheel configuration, and smoke deflectors that had the name plate Tornado. "-a new STEAM engine!?!?"
Bertram was amazed. "Hello," she said, "I'm Tornado." "I can't believe it," said Bertram, "A steam engine, built in the 21st century!!!" "I know, quite a shocker, right?" "Oh, where are my manners. My name's Bertram. I'm here to show you to King's Cross." "Very well," said Tornado
Tornado followed Bertram all the way to King's Cross. She looked all around, and saw the people crowding at the fences, and shouting, "LOOK, A NEW TRAIN!!/THEY STILL MAKE STEAM!?!/SHE LOOKS LIKE FLYING SCOTSMAN!!/I DON'T REMEMBER HER ON THE RAILWAY BEFORE!!" Tornado loved the attention. Soon, the two had arrived at King's Cross, and people on the platforms were amazed at the sight. Just then, Arron came up, and saw who he thought was Scotsman. "Scotsman, back already? You look nice. Why do you have British Railways on your tender? Why not LNER? Hey, are those new smoke..... de..... flectors?...... You're not Flying Scotsman." "No, I'm Tornado," said Tornado. "Nice to meet you Tornado. Are you related to Scotsman by any chance?" "Well, I guess I maybe his Grand Daughter in some ways." Arron then thought for a minute, and said, "WAIT, YOU MEAN YOU WERE BUILT JUST RECENTLY!?!?" "Finished today actually," said Tornado. Arron was speechless.

That night in the sheds, the engines all listened to Tornado as she told them why they built her so late. "I'm not a Gresley engine, I'm actually a Peppercorn class, based off the A1s of the LNER. I'm sure that Scotsman and I will get along just fine."
The next morning, Tornado was waiting impatiently at the platform, as two coaches were coupled up to her. "COME ON, COME ON!! I'M GONNA BE LATE!!!" "I think someone's being bossy," said Jack. Tornado just scoffed. Soon, she raced out into the country side. She was amazed at the people who came to see her. When she arrived at the end of the line, Silvia was there, and saw Tornado. "Oh, a new engine. And it's a girl! About time this fleet got a new female engine." "I know," said Tornado, "boys have it all."
Soon, Tornado had learned all that she needed to know about pulling a train. But she soon started to get an ego, but that's another story.

How to Save a Star [BxB]
“Do you know that stars die?” I asked, breaking the silence. I didn't know where the question came from, but that's the only thing that came to mind. “Yeah,” he answered. “And some stars we see in the sky may be already dead. But they're so far away that their afterglow can still be seen above. Some of them may seem glowing but they’re truly dead.” We all have a little gallery of photographic memories inside our hearts. An exhibit of things we could never forget through our short moments in time. Some were so good, we held it like they were the best part of our lives while some were things we desperately ran away from - they hunted us, and killed our hopes. The beginning of my life ended on my tenth birthday, the day when my childhood was stolen away from me. I longed to run away from that nightmare that held me tightly in my neck and made me helpless under its grasp. Going to college had become my final chance to run away. On my seventeenth birthday, after enrolling at a university, my life took another shift. I met a man who showed me the glimmer of hope I always wanted to see. And this was our story. A narration of first love, bittersweet and worthwhile. DISCLAIMER: This novella primarily contains gay romance. Read at your own risk.

The Runners of Westal
Anya Vorian wasn't picky. She'd take any apprenticeship that came her way. She, Lori and Andrew had prepared all winter for the interviews, but when only one offer came with her name on it, she suddenly wasn't so sure that she could do it. It was hard work, for one thing. It was dirty. They were respected, certainly, but in the sort of way that one respects a skilled plumber - grateful to have the job done, but glad it isn't your arms elbow deep in dung. In short, runners were odd folk. Maybe it was time to get fast. - A first-person tale inspired by long distance running.
