Alex is a GNR N2 Tank Engine, later part of the LNER. He often works goods and local passenger trains. He is very proud of being an engine of Gresley design.
Max is also a Gresley Engine. He was designed during the late days of the GNR and worked along side Alex during the LNER. The two would shunt trucks, and coaches, and pull trains on branch lines.
The Flying Scotsman is the most famous engine in the world. He often pulls the express from King's Cross to Newcastle. He was one of the first successful Gresley Pacifics. He is known through out as a world icon.
Tornado is an A2 Peppercorn Class. She was recently built in 2008, and she has been taking a special express inland called the Mid land Rush. She is still young, and has much to learn.
Mallard and Silver Link are both A4 Pacifics, one of Gresley's greatest designs. Their streamlined outlook made them one of the fastest engines in the world.
Archibald is the only electric engine designed by Sir Nigel Gresley. He often works the branch line that leads to the quarry. He is proud of being an electric engine. He doesn't need to stop for fuel at all. He can just go straight through.
As for the man behind the engines, his name was Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley.
He was a man of great ideas, and engineering. He designed each of these engines, and many others of the GNR and LNER. After attending school in and at Sussex, Gresley served his apprenticeship at the Crewe Works of the London and North Eastern Railway, afterwards becoming a pupil under John Aspinall at Horwich of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway (L&YR). After several minor appointments with the L&YR he was made Outdoor Assistant in the Carriage and Wagon Department in 1901; in 1902 he was appointed Assistant Works Manager at depot, and Works Manager the following year.

He soon rose up as the LNER's Chief Engineer, and designed many other engines, along with the ones just said. One day, Scotsman was pulling in, and he looked at the statue of Sir Nigel Gresley, and the plaque.
Scotsman then thought of the date, and did some hard math. He then realized something. It was 2016. "It's Sir Nigel Gresley's 140th birthday!!" He then departed from his train, and spoke with an inspector. "Sir!! Sir!! May I speak with you?" The inspector looked at Scotsman, and said, "Yes, is there something I can help you with?" "Well, it's almost Sir Nigel Gresley's 140th birthday! So, I was wondering, with permission from the railway board, if we could do something special for him." "What did you have in mind for him?" Scotsman then told him is idea. "Not bad," said the inspector, "I'll see what I can do."
A few days later, some faces came into York.
"So, why are we here?" asked Gordon. He looked around, and saw a banner that said, "Happy 140th Birthday Sir Nigel Gresley." And in the yard, lined up, was Max, Alex, Flying Scotsman, Tornado, Mallard, Silver Link, and all the other preserved Gresley Engines. Soon, Crovan came up, and said, "Well, what are you guys waiting for? Join your family!!!" "What is this?" asked Ryan. "This is the Great Gresley Gathering!" said Mallard. "In honor of Sir Nigel Gresley's 140th birthday," said Silver Link, "Scotsman gathered all the remaining Gresley engines together and asked the railway board for a gathering of the remaining Gresley engines." Gordon Spencer and Ryan smiled, and each lined up in their places.
The engines all stood in line, and people looked at the plaques, information, and pictures. The engines all enjoyed it very much, and they all cheered when they played music for them. Soon, the engines had to go back home, and they all gave a big whistle to Sir Nigel Gresley, the man who created them all. And everyone thanked Flying Scotsman, the engine who thought of the event himself. He slept that night, smiling, knowing, that Gresley himself was smiling down on his engines.

Wild Steam
Get on a train. Head east. Get on a ship. Travel further east, in style. See some wonders of the world. Find what was lost. Find where home is. How hard is any of that?Well, for Jake Ranger, pretty damned hard. The world being a wild, crazy mess from a global altering event called the Shattering doesn’t help much. Nor does being a famous folk hero. That last one really sucks, because people always run up to famous heroes and beg them for help with all their problems. Then there are the actual outlaws and monsters. They don’t help much either. Mostly they just get in the way and make everything way worse. And in a world that is so screwed up decades after the Shattering, there is a lot of variety to both outlaw and monster. Then there are the more civilized, (read: sane), non-human folk, and good old humans as well. They all get along just spectacularly. Totally best friends, on every level, for life. Of course getting to the east coast is only half the battle. Once there, he must contend with the so-called “civilized people.” Then there’s the ship ride; pirates and sea monsters are a thing too, after all. Should have read the brochure. But when the chips are down, the bad guys are winning and the wild winds of chaos are blowing, it helps to have a fighter on your side. Even if he is a little wild. After all, that’s not really a problem. That’s what beautiful women and lots of gold is for. Proper motivation is always key to success. Welcome to a Steampunk, Wild West, Victorian era, Lovecraftian infested, fantasy, shoot ‘em up world. Complete with a slow build harem of badass beautiful women, crazy adventures, and fun, monstrous villains. Welcome to the world of Wild Steam. Do enjoy your stay.

Baby boy
Just so you aren't confused I wrote this book directly from the movie and it's just what I wanted to happen or thought would happen instead of what really happened. DO NOT come to my comments telling me it's like the movie cause I know that's the whole point. I wanted the movie to go different in some parts so I made a book on it.
