"Maki..! Maki.. please wait!" Y/n runs after Maki out of the shrine of judgement.

Maki doesn't say anything. She just keeps walking.

"I'm serious! Maki.! Stop!" Y/n catches up with her and grabs her hand to stop her. Maki immediately shakes it off.

"Leave. I don't want to see you right now."

"Please.. just let me talk to you, just for a bit. Maki.."

Maki sighs in annoyance. "Spit it out. Then leave me alone."

This is happening on the stairs leading up to the courtyard.

Shuichi sits in his dorm. Thinking if he really should have exposed Kirumi. Was he just responsible for millions of lives? He stops, when he hears a knock on the door.

"Kaito?" He asks

"Shh! Come on!" Kaito gestures to follow him, so Shuichi does. They hide behind one of the bushes, looking straight at Y/n and Maki, they can just about hear what they're talking about.

"Um.. isn't this a bit weird? Spying on girls?" Shuichi whispers

"Of course not! We're making sure they don't start fighting.. and end up killing each other or something.!" He whisper/shouts

Shuichi knows he just wants to see what they're doing, but he also wants to know.

They continue talking, Kaito and Shuichi can just barely hear what they're saying.

"Why? Why did you lie? Is that why you were hiding your research lab.?" Y/n asks sadly

"..If I told you my talent, you'd be disgusted and leave. Like everyone else."

"Maki.." Y/n just smiles weakly and takes both of Maki's hands. "I'd never leave you like that.. because I care about you.! Even if you turned out to be the most evil person on the planet I'd still care about you."

"..I've killed people, Y/n. I'm a murderer."

"Did you hear what I just said? I'm not gonna just run away from you just like that."

"Why.? I don't understand.. all I've ever done is told you I don't care. And bother you. Everyone else hates me, so why don't you?"

"..Because.." Y/n looks down and thinks of what to say. "I.. Um.. I don't know how to say this.. I like you, Maki."

"What?" Maki seems totally caught off guard by that.

"I know.. I know it's not supposed to be like this.. but I can't help how I feel. I found out your secret.. so you can find out mine. I love you, like.. I really.. really love you."

Shuichi and Kaito give each other a look of surprise.

"Is that what it was.? Love? I've never felt this way about someone.. I didn't know what it was.. especially because you're a girl.. maybe if you were a boy I would have figured out what it was earlier.. I've never had feelings for someone before.." Maki looks down, embarrassed.

Y/n smiles, she leans in to Maki, she pauses for a second, in case Maki stops her, but Maki just leans in too, and kisses her.

"Um.. Kaito.. I think we should go.!" Shuichi whispers

"Hurry! They'll see us.! C'mon.!" Kaito cocks his head to the side and Shuichi nods, and they quickly run away.

Y/n steps away and looks around when she thinks she hears a noise, then she looks back at Maki, Maki looks bright red and still in shock.

"That.. was my first kiss.." Maki says, very out of character, not like her usual cold and emotionless tone.

"..Mine too.." Y/n scratches her head. "Thank you.. thank you for everything. You make me so happy, Maki. I really do love you. So much."

"..." Maki blushes and looks away. "I.. do too. I'll see you tomorrow.." She walks off and into the dorms.

Y/n tries not to squeal in happiness. She can't even express how good she feels at that very moment, but then she feels a little bad for being so happy considering the fact that two of her friends just died.

"See? I told you she's the Ultimate Assassin." Kokichi says as everyone gathers in Maki's research lab the next morning. Well, everyone apart from Maki.

Y/n feels a little bad, but she has nowhere else to go.

The entire room is.. odd. There's different weapons all up the walls and on all the shelves, there's even a moving target. It really is the Ultimate Assassin's room.

"But whyever did she lie about being the Ultimate Child Caregiver?" Korekiyo asks

"Cuz assassins hide to do all their killing!" Miu says

"Was she.. hiding her true identity because she was planning to kill us.?" Tsumugi asks

"Stop it.. Maki isn't going to kill anyone.. She wouldn't do that." Y/n just folds her arms.

"But how do you know that?" Kokichi says

"Because I know Maki.! She's my closest friend here."

Kaito and Shuichi exchange a glance.

"Maybe.. that was part of her plan all along.." Kokichi snickers. "Get close enough to you so that you trust her.. then she has an easy target."

"Actually.. I don't want to make you upset, but that would make sense.. with your talent and all." Keebo says

"..Oh yeah! I didn't even notice that! If you were a conspiracy theorist who knew top secret information about things all over the world, there'd probably be people who want you dead, and who do you hire if you want someone dead? An assassin!" Kokichi laughs

"Maki isn't trying to kill anyone!" Y/n says, clearly getting frustrated. "I trust her, and I'm gonna keep trusting her unless she ends up killing me."

"Y/n.. I don't think that's the best idea.. you have to be care-" Shuichi begins

"I agree with her!" Kaito cuts him off. "Just let her trust in who she wants to trust! If she ends up being wrong, that's her problem. I'll even help prove that Maki isn't some crazed murderer."

Before anything else can be said, the Monokubs interrupt, giving more random junk like last time. Everyone lets Shuichi handle it.

Y/n leaves and heads for her dorm. But before she even gets the chance to walk down the stairs, Kaito stops her.

"Hey! Y/n!" He jogs to catch up her up.

"Yeah.?" She turns around and stops walking

"I need to talk to you, about Maki."

"Go on then.."

"I know that she's not gonna hurt anyone, well, me and Shuichi.. know about you guys."

"Know what about us.?" Y/n's tone starts to get a little more nervous.

"We saw you two last night."

Y/n pauses for a second, then looks down in embarrassment. "Don't tell the others.."

"Don't worry about it! You guys can trust Kaito Momota, luminary of the stars!"

Something about that makes her trust him a little less, but he doesn't seems like the type to go around telling people's secrets.

"And another thing," He continues. "Me and Shuichi have been training every night, and I want to do something about the Maki situation, so I figured I'd ask you two to join us!"

"..Why me then?" Y/n isn't exactly the most active person in the world.

"Training is the best way to get all your emotions out! And also, Maki would probably be more likely to come if she knew her girlfriend was there too."

"..I'm not her girlfriend."

"What? But you guys kissed!?"

"Just because we kissed doesn't mean we're dating.."

"Why not? You guys like each other, don't you?"

"Is it really the time to be dating? People are dying.. It doesn't matter anyway. And yeah, I'd like to train with you guys."

"Great! I'm gonna go ask Maki now, meet at the courtyard at nighttime. Don't forget!" He grins and goes down the stairs.

She regrets it the tiniest bit, as exercise isn't her strongest point, but it'll be fun.. maybe.

While they were talking, Shuichi opened up another floor, so she goes up to it.

The entire vibe is different.. scary almost. It looks like something from a horror film.

She walks along the dark corridor, the floorboards look like they're rotting away.

There's three unlabelled rooms in a row, she goes into the middle one. It's just a dark empty room, the only light is from the candles.

She notices a hole in the corner, one of the floorboards is missing. She pokes her head in, to see quite a large space under the floor, it'd be big enough to crawl under. But it's pretty dusty and gross under there, so it's probably nothing to worry about.

The two other rooms are the exact same.

She also finds Korekiyo's research lab. It's pretty impressive. It looks like a museum. Sorta like one that's in Oxford in England.

Angie's lab is open too. The two locks on the doors are different, and there's any art supply you would ever need.

There's also a sort of computer room.. it's hard to describe.

Tenko's lab opened up too, that's it for now. Shuichi found a flashback light, so everyone goes to the dining hall.

Everyone except Kaito and Maki are there.

"Finally! Now that Y/n's here after about 10 years of us waiting.. hurry up and turn it on already!" Kokichi says

"But.. Kaito isn't here yet." Tsumugi says

"Maki isn't either!" Angie adds

"Forget about that killer. I wanna see what the flashback light does this time.. so hurry up!" Kokichi says

Kaito walks in the room, followed by Maki. It's the first time Maki and Y/n have seen each other since last night.

"Hey! Thanks for waiting!" Kaito says

"M-Maki!? Why is Maki with you!?" Tenko yells

"Well this is about the flashback light, so everyone should be here!"

"By everyone.. do you really need to include a professional killer?" Korekiyo chuckles

"..." Maki doesn't say anything in response

"Is it true Maki? Are you really the Ultimate Assassin? Have you killed people before?" Keebo asks

"..Yes." Maki says

"Why.. you hide that?" Gonta asks

"Pfft! Isn't it obvious!? It's so she could kill us before we figure out her identity!" Miu says

"..You're wrong. It's because I knew you would react like this. When people learn my Ultimate they have the same fear in their eyes as you all do. Eventually that fear will turn into hate, then someone will kill me because they're afraid I'll kill them first."

"That's not-" Shuichi says

"Whenever someone learns my true identity they try and kill me, it happens every time. Always."

"Aw.. you've lived a pretty sad life. So, so sad. I think I might cry.. but because of everything you've been through, human life doesn't matter to you anymore! Does it?" Kokichi's tone changes scarily fast

"Stop it.! Maki isn't some heartless evil creature. Just because she's an assassin doesn't mean she's a monster.. if you think that then you would have to think Kirumi and Kaede were both monsters too. Which we all know they weren't." Y/n says

"Y/n, leave it. I knew this would happen. For once Kokichi is right." Maki says

"..Then.. what happened last night.. did that mean nothing to you? You said that you.. you know what. If you're actually heartless, were you just.. lying?"

"..I wasn't lying. I do.. you know what. But it still confuses me. Because I am in fact a monster, so I don't know why it's suddenly happened because of you. Nothing will change about the others though. So there's no point trying. Just pretend I'm not even here." Maki leaves the room.

"Maki!" Y/n runs out after her. Which seems to be a very common occurrence between those two.

"Huh? Did we miss something? What happened last night? What were they talking about?" Tsumugi asks

"..We should forget about it for now.. it's probably their business. I think we should use the flashback light." Shuichi says

Outside, Y/n catches up to Maki.

"Maki, can we talk?"

"..It's probably best if we do."

"Yeah.. I want to talk about us. What are we? I mean.. we like each other and stuff.. but what now?"

"..I don't know. I'm not used to anything like this."

Y/n chuckles sadly. "Neither.. it doesn't have to be so complicated. Maybe we can just.. agree that we like each other, then continue from there."

Maki smiles a little. "I think that's a good idea."

Y/n pulls Maki into a tight hug.

"Did Kaito talk to you about tonight.?" Y/n says, while they're still hugging.

"What?"

"Him and Shuichi have been training at nighttime, and they want you to join them."

Maki pulls away from the hug. "No. No way in hell."

"Please? I'm going as well. I really want you to come, and I promise you'll have fun. And plus, I could get stronger or something like that, because.. well.. I'm not exactly very strong. Come on, please?"

"..." Maki pauses for a second. "Fine. I'll do it."

"Then, I'll see you later. Thank you!" Y/n happily jogs back into the school.

"I'm gonna regret that.." Maki mutters to herself after Y/n leaves.
