(Back to your POV)
Mike and I sat there in silence. My god, he was amazing back there. Vincent, the almighty purple man, had fallen to someone who hums along to the Steven Universe theme. My friend.
I looked over at him. His head was down, and he looked several feet deep in his thoughts. I didn't want to disturb him, so I left him to think about whatever. I finished the hot chocolate and placed the empty cup on the small table in front of the couch. Mike looked up at the mug and took it into the small kitchen area. As he was cleaning the dishes, I got thinking.
Did I like him? It almost wasn't a question. Sure, he could be an asshole at times, but he's definitely gotten better since we got to know each other. He was actually pretty sweet to me now. It seemed as though he felt the same way...I mean, considering how much he's protected me and how he's always there to comfort me...
Next thing I knew, he was standing in front of me. "I'm not all that great," Mike said. "Honestly, I'm a different person around you. I'm not usually like this..." "Mike," I interrupted him, standing up. "That back there? That was a different person. You've changed, Mike. I like this new you. Better than the asshole who yelled at me for being quiet." Mike was red as a cherry. I was probably blushing as well, but I didn't care to notice. "Mike, I--"
He cut me off. Not with words, for once, but rather with a kiss. I was taken aback. My pale, antisocial coworker was kissing me. The asshole coffee addict was kissing me. My Steven Universe watch buddy. My friend. And I loved it.

I allowed myself to melt into the kiss. I felt as though we had wings, and were flying up above the world. Past the pizzeria, past the apartment, past the clouds. Mike was the only thing there.
"I love you, (Y/N)," Mike mumbled against my lips. "You get me."
"I love you too, Mikey," I murmured back.
Mike was the only thing that mattered.
And I liked it that way.

Small Chests Are Fine Too
It is an undeniable fact that good things come in small packages. More often than not, it is necessary to trim the fat in order to bring what really matters to the forefront. Having extra bulk may seem like a good idea, but in reality it is merely a crutch that will one day become a hindrance, as it is no substitute for personality nor ability. Indeed, often times it is the small things in life that brighten up our daily lives and constantly remind us exactly why we do the things we do. However, it is important to keep an open mind, for while bigger is not always better, there are also times when it is. This holds especially true when it comes to hopes and dreams, which have been known to require a suitably large container from time to time. And while dreaming big could potentially lead to massive dissapointment, one will never truly reach fulfilment if they think too small. A truth that one small woman with meager aspirations is about to find out. DISCLAIMER: This is a spin-off/side story of my main series, Everybody Loves Large Chests, which is also mandatory reading to understand this one. It runs parallel to the main plot, branching off from the chapter titled Upheaval 2, so there will be spoilers for anyone who hasn't reached that point.

Song of the Depths
Book 1: Complete, in process of posting.Book 2: 50% complete, will schedule chapters when complete. Part of the Cycles of Imbalance universe. Will contain an alternative relationship dynamic (reverse harem, might be some MM and FF. No cheating, no NTR.) To the Creshe Empire, I’m just a number. I’ve spent the past five years in isolation and under study. With my home razed by a Syldrari attack, my mind damaged, and nothing but white walls and a viewing window around me, I dedicated myself to two things: training my body, and reading any book they allowed me to have. The Empire wants me to serve, to use the inhuman power the Incident stirred within me. Technically, they asked, but it wasn’t much of a choice. It never is. Serve, or… I refused to be a mindless slave. My life was taken from me once. Never again. With the Empire moving forward with their xenophobic plans, they needed someone capable of killing Syldrari—and I was just that. A tool they could use, a tool they thought they could manipulate. Needing me was their first mistake. They gave me leverage, I named my terms. Now, after five years, my life can begin.

Blood and Gold
Having failed to manifest any attunements on the Testing day, Elias is disowned and cast out from his clan, the royal clan of the Holstein kingdom. Unwilling to stay down and to accept the clan's view of unattuned individuals having no power, Elias seeks to grasp onto and change his fate. If he can't move mountains with his fist, can't he at least move mountains of gold? Elias would show his clan and the world that even an unattuned individual is worthy of respect, even that given to the strongest. This is his journey. Darius proved his mettle and showed everyone his potential when he attuned to both the aspects of fire, the royal element, and blood. With a fast-track to general all but guaranteed, the only thing he could have hoped for was for his twin, his dearest brother, to join him by his side. Unfortunately, Elias tested as unattuned, the level that was reserved for weaklings that deserved to be cast out and trampled. Or at least, that's what the clan says. If his brother couldn't hit with the strength of a legend, didn't he just have to hit twice as hard to compensate? Darius would show the weaklings around him just what the apex of diligence and talent looked like. This is also his journey.
