"Where's your girl?" I heard Owen say immediately as Jessie hugged him outside of the car and my window was cracked.
"In the car why?" Jess asked.
"I miss my Sail Sail." He said and I opened the door, hopping out the car. Both of their eyes were bright red and tired. I felt bad for Rowan and Owen.
Instead of me going to O, he immediately walked to me and hugged me the tightest he had.
I was on my tip-toes as his head fell into my shoulder and I rubbed his back.
"Are you okay O?" I whispered in his ear.
"No." I felt a hot tear on my shoulder and I held on tighter.
"I'm sorry for your loss." I said and he pulled away and kissed my forehead.
"You're an angel." He smiled lightly, keeping his head low and wiping the tears.
I was immediately recoiled into another strong hug by Rowan and it took my a minute but I hugged him back.
"Are you okay?" I asked him to see their states.
"I will be. Honestly yea it was hard watching dad pass but watching Owen be nearly tormented by his emotions had me. You two and then us two should do something just the two of us soon. We talked and want to know you better." He pulled away and smiled softly as he kissed my cheek and they put their bags in the back.
Owen wanted to drive as Jessie claimed the passenger and he put his arm over the head rest and opened his hand. I took it and he moved it to the side of the seat sticking his hand what looks painfully in the back.
"Hold on." Jessie said and I held onto his two last fingers.

Ro touched my hair softly and I smiled at him. I never had siblings but O and Rowan were closest to big brothers I've ever experienced even if I hadn't spent an insane amount of time with them.
Owen would look back once in a while and lightly smile at me but check if Rowan was okay.
"I've got the bags and dinner, go play video games or something." I said and they all asked why.
"Because I said so. Go." I ushered them and they slumped as they went into the house.
I popped the trunk and grabbed one backpack, putting it over my shoulder. I grabbed the two suitcases and closed the trunk before rolling them in hearing something fall.
I put the bags inside before going out to grab it.
I looked and they boys must've been 12/13 but it was Rowan, Jessie, and Owen all standing with what I assume to be Owen's dad and Ro's Step. I felt my eyes burn with tears of empathy. I couldn't fathom.
I sighed, walking into their house and closing the door.
Instead of dinner immediately I went upstairs and they played video games.
"What's wrong?" Owen asked and Jessie immediately dropped the controller, walking to me, grabbing my waist with one hand and my chin with the other.
"What's the matter doll?" He asked worried.
"No- I- uhm here." I handed the picture to him and he looked at it with lips that were turned up.
"Is this why your crying?" Ro snatched the photo and took a look before looking at me.
"Sorry." I shook my head.
"Don't be sorry. Jess, you have amazing taste in girls. Only this one." Owen laughed still playing, probably keeping them alive.
Ro kissed my forehead and rubbed my hair before sitting.

Jessie just kept his eyes locked on mine as he smirked.
"Definitely a keeper." He winked and sat back down.
I felt heat rushing to my face as I cleared my throat.
"What's for dinner?" I asked.
"Whatever you want sis." Owen said and I smiled at the nickname.
"Yea but what's good." I said.
"Make whatever you can, spaghetti, pizza, literally anything. We like everything we have." Rowan said.
"Okay." I walked downstairs and began making spaghetti with Texas Toast. The best garlic bread ever.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
