《Magic》Failure

Failure is known as a bad thing, but this is not true, there are actually many benefits to failing. Let's learn, within these paragraphs, its benefits through inspiring quotes from people who are experts at failing. Failure isn't there just to be in the way, it's there for a reason. Let's find out.
The feeling of gut-sinking, "I'm-an-idiot, I-can't-do-anything", feeling, it feels awful, and that feeling is the cause of failure. We often feel that one mistake is a failure in our lives and that is a bad thing. But failure doesn't have to crush us. In fact, it can be a strength if we let it be. What matters is how you react to the mistakes you've done. Research shows, that the way you think about failure and how you react to it, is what makes the impact. We can either grow on mistakes or dwell on them forever. If we say 'I'm sorry, I've made a mistake,' failure teaches us and we learn from our mistakes and move on.
When we make excuses, blaming others, trying to avoid the consequences, the results are opposite and the failure turns into more failure. When we respond to 'failure' as a failure, people are less likely to recover.
But, why is this?
Once you fully accept and embrace failure and allow it to teach you, you can receive positive lessons and outcomes. Failure tells us that success, rarely comes as a 'big break' but it comes after a lot of hard work. It can also teach people to try another way to reach their goal. To trust yourself. But this is not all failure teaches you, this is just the beginning. The lesson of failure is to learn to own your failures.
Celebrities like, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, and Malala Yousafzi have gone through a lot of challenges to become who they are today. But nobody is immune to failure.

Actors explain, in their quotes and interviews, why they won't let the fear of failure stop them from doing their dreams and the importance of not dwelling on their failures. One quote on failure is during an interview with Emma Watson on Vouge. She said, 'I don't want the fear of failure to stop me from doing what I really care about,'
During a concert, Taylor Swift told her audience,' Fearless is getting back up and fighting for what you want over and over again... even though every time you've tried before, you lost'.
Beyonce's mini-documentary called "Self-titled": Part 2. Imperfection', she opened up about the importance of failing in life. She said, 'The reality is, sometimes you lose. And you're never too good to lose, you're never too big to lose, you're never too smart to lose, it happens. And it happens when it needs to happen. And you have to embrace those things.'
Basketball player, Michale Jordan, during a commercial called 'Failure,' shared his low moments in his career. 'I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career,' the sportsman said in the clip. 'I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions, I have been entrusted to take the game-winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.'
Big stars, like J.K Rowling, Sandra Bullock, and Hilary Clinton, all have gone through big failures in their lives, but here they are, big names in our world.
Failure, in fact, is necessary, as much as it hurts. Without failure, we'd be less likely to accomplish our goals, to love and have empathy, and how to be kind. It's when we fail, we learn the greatest lessons that life can teach us.

What is failure, and why is it so important to fail at something before we actually succeed at it?
When failure is thought of, it usually brings a negative aspect/light. It causes emotions, such as regret, guilt, anger. For those who know true success, and have bounced back up, understand that failure is necessary. Most successful people have failed the most times. And if you go through life without failing at anything, you aren't really living. Failing, taking risks, and getting hurt is what make us into who we are.
What most people don't realize is that: failure is what happens in order to get you to where you have to be in life. The problem is, society tends to celebrate the success instead of highlighting the journey towards their success, and this journey was filled with setbacks, mistakes, and trials. Failure is a steppingstone and through that failure, we can learn how to develop a deeper understanding of life that we can use in the future as a guide. With failure, we can recover faster with each mistake and grow from them. Be grateful for the mistakes you've made and value them. And if you are worried because you don't know how to recover quickly or how to grow from every mistake, you just need to accept them.
Tell yourself 'It's okay to fail'.
Use failure as a way to pull you up like a leverage.
When we fail, it just means it's not good enough yet. Once you identify the problem and address it, you are one step closer to success. Treat failure as a guide where you want to be. It's unnecessary to dwell on it if you already know what you can change about it. Through failure, we learn how to cope with our thoughts and emotions which can make us focus on what brings us happiness. If we had no failure, we would have nothing that would drive us to improve or to seek knowledge. Failure is here to remind you that no one is perfect and that there are so many things to learn about this world. Remember that you don't only have 'one-shot', just keep on trying.
It took Edison 1,000 chances to invent the light bulb. These mistakes are what drives almost everybody to do well.
Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts."
As you can see, Failure is a necessary part of life.
There are many positive aspects about making mistakes, even if at the moment it may not seem so. To succeed, you need to have failed. The celebrities we look up to today, are not perfect, they have had many failures to get where they are right now. There is a purpose to failure: it encourages us to keep trying and figure out what's meaningful to us. The benefit of failure is: it's what makes you 'you'.

ELIOT NESS FOR MAYOR is a short novel of magical-realist fiction, a stand-alone book in the Shantytown Cycle. Written for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), I will be posting revisions as I complete them and should be done by early 2022, though I am making major changes so the timing may be longer. This book is cross-posted on two websites: Wattpad and Royal Road. Both are reputable, high-quality sites. Do not trust this book on other websites. They "scrape" material from reputable sites, posting the stolen material as an original to lure users in, but contain links that include malicious code.
