《Keeping It Halal》Gone Forever

One second I was talking to Mama. Another second was black. Pitch black. All I heard was Mama and Tala screaming, "May! May don't worry! Say the Shihada 'The witness that there is no God but Allah and Mohamed is His Prophet'." I heard them, faintly and said the Shihada: "Ashadu Ana Laa Illaha Ilallah Wa Ashadu Ana Mohamed Rasool Allah." After I said the Shihada, I felt my eyelids getting heavier and heavier. They shut and I don't remember anything after all of that. Was this the end?
The only words that rang in my mind were, May is gone. May. Is. Gone. My older sister was gone. We were all sitting in the waiting room. Baba conforting Mama, Ahmed and Tala sleeping on a chair, me thinking about May and sobbing quietly and Mohamed doing the same but sobbing harder. Why wouldn't he? May was his twin. They were in the same stomach and at the same time. I got up and knelt down under Mohamed. I put a hand on his knee. He looked up at me then looked away. "Hey hey Mo look at me. Ok? It will be ok Inshallah. Allah has surely done this for a reason." I started. None of my words seemed to have any effect on him. I decided to try again. "Listen Mo. I don't know how you feel, ok? But I know that our sister- your twin needs you. She really does. Now let's go and talk to her ok?" This time, I think that Mohamed liked my words and got inspired. He got up and held my hand and we walked to May's room. 'Room 509' the sign read. We knocked and walked inside. I motioned for Mohamed to go in first and talk to her. Mohamed talked to her for about 15 minutes until motioning for me to come over and talked to her. After I saw that there was nobody in the room, I started talking. "May? May answer me. Please. I...I'm sorry. For all the pain I caused you. I ruin all of your mornings, evenings and nights. The last time we talked to each other, we were mad. Please May. Come on please wake up. For me. For mama and baba. Tala and Ahmed. And even Mo. Mohamed misses you so much he even smudged your favorite Morphe lipstick on the note he wrote you." I chuckled. Just then, May's monitor started beeping rapidly. I looked in alarm. "My lipstick? MOHAMED YOU ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!" May exclaimed softly. I hugged May so tightly at the sound of her voice as the nurses and doctors flooded the room with their voices at that moment. So did Mama, Baba, Ahmed and Tala. And after them, Mohamed came inside. He smiled, cheekily through his tiny tears which have now flooded into gigantic waterfalls. He was so happy to see his twin. The doctor explained that May would have to have surgery and told us that we could head home.

Relived to know that May was safe, we headed back to the car. Mohamed, looking excuse to drive, hopped into the drivers seat. Baba got a phone call from Khalto Taysir. Although in Arabic your supposed to call your dad's sisters Amatu, we just call them Khalto. And you're supposed to call your dad's brothers Amu, but we call them Khalo, which means uncle in Arabic. I know it sounds confusing! "Listen here Ayman. It's either you get dressed up nicely or you don't come to Marwan's party, OK?! I have special guests coming! And make sure you get something better than the car you got Marwan last year ok?!" Khalto Lushi screamed through the phone. "Lushi. Lushi please. You know we can't afford to buy new fancy clothes like you do everyday. We aren't as rich as you. Sister please." Baba pleaded. Ok to be honest, Marwan is just a snobby little pain! A ROYAL PAIN! I hate him! On my second birthday, they came to visit us in the UAE and Marwan knows how much I hate the 'Pop Goes The Weasel' toy. He bought it for me and I got so scared that I fell backwards onto my cake! And in my defense, it was a Minnie Mouse cake and I loved Minnie Mouse ok! (Don't judge me!) They moved to Canada when Marwan was born. He is an only child. At the thought of that I took my phone out and went onto Tik Tok. I searched up Marwan's username on my Following list. (Who makes their user ?!) And I blocked him. I went on Instagram, Messages, Twitter, Pinterest and Snapchat to do the exact same thing: BLOCK THAT RICH BOY! (Or whoever he thinks HE is!) I was furious! Mama took the phone from Baba. "Hello? Lushi listen we didn't do any shopping because May got shot." After Mama said that, Khalto Lushi was silent then decided to speak up. "I understand. Just please come over to my MANSION....The THIRD one." She told us, putting a lot of emphasis on the words 'Mansion' and 'Third'. How I hated when she bragged about her 5 Mansions! And with that, Khalto Lushi ended the call and Mama looked up at us then at Baba. She sobbed into his chest. He pulled her into a deep hug. "It's ok Habibti. It WILL be ok. Ishallah. You'll see." He explained to her. Baba gave her a kiss on her forehead and we headed home to get dressed and eat tuna sandwiches before we left to Khalto Lushi and Khalo Rami's house.

After we got home, Mohamed told me he wanted to talk to me in his room. "Listen up Mariam. I know what you're doing and I don't like it," He started. I was confused. What was he talking about?! "Why would you do that? Why? This doesn't seem like you to do that. To my FRIEND. My ONLY friend here in Canada!" I was confused. What is his deal?! "Oh is this about Kareem? What did I do?! And who told you I did something wrong? Why are you so-" "Just get him off your mind Mariam! You've got to focus! Focus on life! And make sure this doesn't happen again or I'll tell Baba and Mama! How could you commit this major sin?! How could you? And it's none of your buissness where I got this info from! Get out. JUST GET OUT!" Mohamed screamed at me, scratching his head. I got up and ran out of his room into mine. I slammed the door shut. I don't know what to do I'm just so stressed out!

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Helena's Plane
Paul, a bored young man, wakes up in a white room. A young woman tells him he has died, that she is some kind of god who likes videogames and he will be reborn in an RPG-esque world so she and her fellow god-friends can watch him for entertainment.Unfortunately, the goddess forgot to give Paul most of the obligatory, obvious cheat-abilities to make him rush to power in easy mode. Paul embraces his new life full of clichés, perverts, magic, loot and action. And animal girls.18+ !CONTAINS GRAPHIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL CONTENT! (Actual sex is still hard to find, but you will get it. Eventually. Sporadically.) =================Author's note:So, this is my very first novel. It will be poorly written, has a huge info-dump disguised as a first chapter (to be rewritten. At some point in the future. I guess.), and may or may not offend everyone for different reasons. Perhaps you will just find it boring, which would be even worse. The description turned out a bit comedic, but the story isn't overly so.I have a rough idea of where this will be going, but expect some bumps on the road, as well as logic holes, flat characters and a lot of borderline copyright infringements from all the ideas I got reading other works. And did I mention I'm not a native speaker? No? Well, expect some embarrassing grammar and wording choices. The main character is a more or less normal guy, without high morals, martial arts skills or even a desirable goal in life. There is mature content, in terms of violence and sexual content. It won't become a full-blown erotic novel, and it may or may not be your cup of tea when it comes to the type of content.Critics welcome.
