《Keeping It Halal》Canada, Eh

"Hey y'all. So I'm on the airplane right now and guess who I met, going to Canada? Addisom Rae!" I said to my camera. "Hey, It's Addison and it's a pleasure meeting you Mariam." Addison said. After I finished my little Q&A video with Addison, I asked her for a follow back, I know I'm akward but, SHE SAID YAS!!!! "Kay bye and enjoy your visit! Swing by some time!" I said. Also, I gave her my number, incase she wanted to hang out and so that she can come over and hang out some time.
Once Mo, Marwan and I got back to Canada, Dalia picked us up and we filled her in on everything. She drove us to our house. She's a HUGE fan of Addison's. Just then, I got a call from the university. "Hello this is-" "I TOLD YOU. Leave him ALONE!" The person interupted me. It's probably a girl. "Ok stop calling me. And who ARE you?!" I asked. Everyone looked at me like 'What's going on' and I just ignored them and told them to move on. "My name's....Uh- Sheila. It's Sheila," She started. "And you're Mariam. Meet me at the school caffiteria. On Thursday." She said. So that's in 6 days. I shut my phone. "Who?" They asked me. "Just some girl saying 'stay away from my man' and trash." I said. They all told me to block her, but I said that we were meeting at the caffiteria in almost a week.
*BACK AT OUR DORM*
We were playing uno when Marwan got a phone call. "Ugh. I don't have time for this." He mumbled. "What's wrong? Is everything ok?" I asked. "I'm fine." He said, really blankly. "Marwan if something's bothe-" "I said i'm FINE. Ok?" He said. "Sorry I'm gonna excuse myself. Need a bit of fresh air." I got up and left. I heard them faintly. Dalia slapping her cards down and saying, "What have you done? GO APPOLAGIZE." And then Marwan saying. "Nah I didn't-" "GO." Mo and Dalia, interupting him. "Listen Babe I'm-" "Don't 'BABE' me." I crossed my arms. "Come on....It's just this-" He was interupted by his ringtone, All Of Me by John Legend. "I love that song." I said before he answered. He chuckled a bit to himself. "Me too Mariam. Me too." He said. "So I give you alllll of me, and you give me alllll of you, ohhh." We sang together. We laughed together. "Oh, gotta pick up, it's Mama." He said. "What?! Mama?! She's- She's GONE!!!" Marwan cried. Tears flowed down his cheeks. I hugged him so tight but he broke free and stood blankly, staring at the three of us. "It'll be fine. Marwan I'll drive you. Your upset, you can make an accident!" I said, getting my coat on. "You guys stay here." I said. I read Dalia's thoughts and tried not to laugh. "Dalia, I know what you're thinking but stop." I said, restraigning my smile. She was thinking something along the lines of 'I'm SO glad she's gone' and I knew it. But even though she was always a pain to me, I wasn't happy. I was sad, so I started crying. "Marwan, get your coat on." I said. He was in shock. "Mama meant the MOST to me!!" He said and threw his phone on the wall, which cracked into so many pieces. "MARWAN! STOP IT PLEASE!" I cried. I put his coat on him and led him to the car with me. "It'll be fine. Bismillah; just read dua. Small prayer ALWAYS helps." I said. I rubbed his shouder a bit. Just then, there was a big bump that made us go forward. I jumped out of the car with a very upset Marwan. A grubby guy came walking out of his RAM Truck and stuck his middle finger at us. "What the *BLEEP* man?! YOU GOOD?! YOU GONNA pay for this you know! We ain't callin' the police! YOU GONNA-" "EXCUSE ME MISTER HIS MOTHER IS DYING SO GET OUTTA THE WAY!" I yelled at him and pulled Marwan into the car and we drove off.

When we got to their house, Marwan got out of the car before I even stopped the car. "Marwan! Marwan Estana 'Wait in Arabic'!!" I yelled to him. When we both got inside, we just stood there, frozen. "Salam Marwan."

Alex was dying, and all the millions his father had left him meant nothing. The life he had been so eager to embrace, to do the memory of his father proud, would soon come to an end. Cancer. That ugly, terrible word. He had tried to be strong for his mother, even when the treatments left him violently ill, his body wracked with pain, his friends and even his girlfriend leaving him almost as fast as his once impressive physique wasted to nothing under the ravages of his illness. And just when he thought all hope was dead, a couple discrete referals placed by high-powered friends of his family got him an exclusive spot at the most sophisticated cryonic facility in the world. He didn't know if there was such a thing as an afterlife, but part of the package included uploading a copy of his cortex into a digital universe filled countless worlds to explore, where he could embrace whatever class or profession he could dream of. All of which sounded hell of a lot better than the miserable death waiting for him in the real world. In the end, he signed the paperwork, putting his pathetic flickering life in the hands of potential quacks and charlatans. After all, with death just days away, what did he have to lose? Even if he could never be successfully revived, he could at least adventure his heart out. (Authors Note: Books 1-6 are now live on Amazon and here is a link if you wanted to check it out! The Light in Death
Set in a modern city where Jesse Gil narrates his experience running a business capitalizing on his ability to heal any affliction — even death. He's forced to take on a student, Shawn Ellison, a spoiled college dropout who awakens abilities of his own, to prevent him from accidentally killing himself. As a result, Jesse must become more than just a healer. He'll need to master his power over energy: the fuel for life, the soul, and magic. I'm uploading the initial draft of each chapter so people can follow along with the story as I complete the manuscript. I'm hoping to gather interest, and potentially attract an editor. After going back to revise and edit; I will self-publish it.
