《Barbie Driver》chapter 8 {I am wittle}

"Anything new on the rouges?" my dad asks as he jumps in the back seat of my car. My mom, and Delta both follow in behind him, my Beta sitting in the passenger seat.
"No," I answer. "Same old, same old. I still don't know where they're coming from,"
Dad nods. "Do you have a patrol out at all times?"
I have to resist the urge to roll my eyes "Yes, Dad. I've always had patrol out," I sigh."Now can we please not talk about this right now? I don't want to think about rouges when I'm with rose"
He sighs and my mom fights to stifle her laugh. I growl at the sound.
"What?" I hiss. "What could you possibly find so funny?"
She just smirks. "Nothing's funny. I just think it's sweet how you act around Monami or how you talk about her,"
I pull out into the road and make my way towards Mona's house, aware that my mother is awaiting my reply to her statement.
"She's my mate, what do you expect?" I finally decide on saying.
She shrugs. "Not all mates end up together. Some mates get rejected by theirs," she points out.
Faizi chooses this moment to pipe up. "When I first heard that your mate was a baby, I thought you had rejected her. Tha-"
I cut him off with a growl. "I would never reject her. Never." Even the thought makes me sick. I never want baby to be without me. I don't want her sad. Her being sad hurts me probably more than her, and
that's something I never want to happen.
Faizi holds up his hands as a sign of surrender. He's been walking on thin ice these last few days. "I'm just saying, Karan. I didn't think you'd want to wait so long for your mate. You'll have to with Monami,"

"Actually bro," Sid cuts in. "He only has to wait three years. Not even that long. At the rate Monami's growing, she'll look our age in no time,"
The car falls silent after that. No one responds to Sid's statement, even though we all know it's true. It's just uncomfortable to think about. Because when Monami looks nineteen, she'll really only be three. And even if she's my mate and I'll love her either way, most people won't. And they'll look at me like a sick psycho who's obsessed with little girls and doesn't want to get caught.
After ten minutes of uncomfortable silence in my car, we reach lil one's little house. It's been decorated in red, green, and silver lights, and I can see the tree from the open window.
As soon as the car is parked, I jump out of the car and run into the house, knowing that the front door won't be locked.
The first thing I see is my baby playing on the floor with her toys. She locks her eyes with mine and reaches toward me, whimpering my name.
I immediately scoop her up, cradling her to me. By now she's almost the size of a three year old, but she can do things that any common six year old would do. She's smart and advanced.
The rest of the people from my car file in the door, saying hey to Monami who barley glances their way. Instead, she's focused on my hand, and is playing with my fingers that are four times bigger than hers. She seems to find it fascinating.
I hear Tej and Jhanvi talking in the kitchen, saying how we can start presents as soon as everyone gets here.
This makes my brow furrow. I thought everyone was here already. I assumed that me and my family were the last ones to arrive, I didn't know that anyone else would come.

Tej, jhanvi, and my family stay in the kitchen, leaving it just me and my baby girl in the living room. I sit down on the couch, still holding her, as she continues her inspection of my fingers.
"Is something wrong with them, baby?" I ask her.
She looks up at me with wide, confused, blue/brown eyes. "With what?" Her voice still has that soft baby ring to it and that pout she is making , is just testing my patience.
"My fingers. You look very interested in them,"
Her eyes go wide in understanding and she looks back down at them, then back up to me. When I don't say anything, she takes her palm and lays it against mine, comparing the two sizes.
"Why fingers so big?" she asks, stumbling over her words like she doesn't know the right ones to use.
"Because I'm older than you. You haven't grown all the way yet," I explain.
I expect her to nod, or say something else, but I never expected her to do what she does.
She stares at me a second longer before her powty bottom lip starts to tremble, and her eyes fill with water.
My heart almost stops.
I pull her to me and hug her with all my might, kissing her soft caramel hair over and over. I don't even know what's wrong, but I don't want her to cry. She should never cry, ever. She's too perfect for sadness.
"What's wrong, baby?" I whisper, trying to use my tone to soothe her.
She looks at me and another tear slips from her eye. "You no like me," she mumbles.
My eyes go wide and I'm quick to reassure her. "No, baby, no. Of course I like you, I love you. Why would you think I don't?"
She buries her small little head in my chest. "Because I'm wittle, and you bigger than me,"
If my heart can shatter again, it does.
I hug her even tighter to me and kiss her hair again before pulling her back so I can look dead in her eyes.
"Baby," I start. "Never, ever, think that I don't like you. I will always love you, no matter what. Nothing can change that. Okay?"
She nods, then reaches for me, clinging to my shirt. "Never weave me," she whispers, her voice muffled by my shirt.
"I won't baby," I promise her. As soon as the words leave my mouth I know that they're true. I could never leave this girl. I'm nothing without her.

There is a common line of questioning that falls upon students within their first moments at Kingsly. “Why?”. The student asks, “Why am I here?”. This is a futile line of questioning. There are those who remember, and those who do not. I’ll spare you the technical explanation — that’s what we have teachers for. The jist is as follows: those who remember are... how do I put this... more likely. They occupy more time. and the space that time has allowed them — the pertinent amount — is experienced no matter what. Allow me to offer you a bit of personal information: I am not one who remembers. There is no time relevant to me, no space that I occupy. I exist by carving myself here, and continue to exist in the same fashion. You would do well to follow suit. Why am I here? Because I force myself to be. Because the universe, the universes, for all its kicking and screaming, cannot escort me out.

BODY&SHADOW
AN ILLUSTRATED NOVEL • UPDATES TUESDAY AND FRIDAY In a time before living memory, the King Dragon of the Void watched the world and realized there was a crack. He realized that humanity was destroying the rock upon which they lived; they leaked life’s code into the churning chaos. At first the change was imperceptible: nanites overtook microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, amoebas. Insects became increasingly inorganic; birds and lizards followed soon after. Even humans were infected by their own advances, cell by cell, till there was not a person left on earth who wasn’t at least part synthetic, the product of a prior generation’s carelessness. The world’s population was ravaged by mechanical viruses with no vaccines; they were mercilessly overtaken by bacteria that knew no death. Soon, most of the planet was empty and only a handful remained who remembered the hedonist realm they came from; only a few were left who remembered what the world looked like when their buildings touched the sky. The King Dragon of the Void watched the rock turn. He watched humans cower as the Old World fell down around them; watched their great monuments crumble into dusty ruins; watched their codes become precious, ancient gem memories forged under the crushing pressure of so many fallen stones. The world has spun many times around the sun since chaos swallowed man whole. It is a simpler time than the one that died out, but the people now are not immune to the folly of the people before. There is old code everywhere: in the water, in the air, in the trees. The heart of man has been replaced by power cores, many of which are hard-coded with preternatural abilities—when they die, an esoteric mountain sect collects their cores and stores them in their hollow mountain home to preserve the sanctity and dignity of human death. They’ve learned to harness artifacts of the old world, gemstones full of codes their nanite infused bodies can parse as spells imbuing their users with great power; they inlay them into their bodies, into their skins, connected to their cores by copper conduit and gold tracers; they dress themselves in tattoos to advertise their prowess; they battle for relics in arenas, fight for them in the open world wherever they are found. The King Dragon of the Void watches the rock turn and wonders: when will this hunger finally make the rock stop spinning? WELCOME TO FANXING CITY … Twenty-five years ago, Fanxing City and the surrounding lands were commanded by the mad King Zao Beiguan. For many years, the King hoarded wealth, artifacts, food; he demanded tribute from a people already taxed to the edges of their existence and expected they be happy with their circumstances. Noncompliance was often punished harshly, bodies displayed proudly on Fanxing’s streets as a warning, from the city gates to the Zao palace’s golden doors. The youths of several prominent clans came together to overthrow the tyrant and made names for themselves as legendary heroes across the land: Tian, Ren, Feng, Gui, Ma, and Zhenxi. Even wanderers from the Luanshi sect descended from Yunji mountain to aid the rebellion. When the dust settled after three years, Tian Yunyong ascended the throne of Fanxing and swore to honour his slain father’s memory, and has maintained Fanxing’s peace with generosity and mercy where fear and cruelty once reigned.

Game Master - Unlocked [Terror Infinity]
Sieghart wakes up in the company building of one of the most dangerous supervillains in the world greeted by an inhuman entity who pushed them into an Death March that will span dimensions. (The Warnings Are just in case, thus far no plans have been made, but if there end up being any you are warned) [Terror Infinity Fanfiction, there was months of planning and thought into this. Left it for a year worked on it for a bit then left it again and back and forth. The Concept was interesting enough in both the Original and Side B, but the World Building for both was such a mess it gave me such a headache I had to restart and scrap entire ideas multiple times before I just gave up and started from almost scratch and got something mildly satisfying. In my opinion even then, it still needs work. Hopefully you guys will enjoy this.] (Cover Image Isn't Mine)
