Chapter 28

The morning after the night before

Bethan slowly fluttered opened revealing klaus' blue eyes staring down at her.

"good morning love" he whispered stroking her cheek softly making the brunette hum, wiping a hand over her face.

"good morning." She smiled back, this was a new side of klaus and she couldn't help but admit she liked it.

The hybrid littered missed around Bethan's face causing her to laugh slowly pushing him away.

Bethan wiggles out of his grip puting her under wear back on, beth stood infront of the mirror pulling her hair into pony tail, that's when klaus came behind her wrapping his arms around the young Werewolf's waist. He kissed her neck causing her to giggle

"what are you doing?" She asked as he slowly pulled her back to the bed into his arms.

"Let me take you somewhere for your birthday" the hybrid whispered into her ear. And he felt the brunette tense.

"What's the matter love" he asked Bethan was in a great mood not even 5 seconds ago.

"I'm leave after prom, going to find my place in the world." Bethan explained playing with his fingers.

"let me take you" klaus offered but the brunette shook her head no.

"This is something I'd have to do by myself I don't want to be dependent on anyone I never have been." the green eyed girl confessed.

"You wouldn't be just let me show you what the world has to offer" pulling her back into his arms.

"Klaus no matter what this attraction is that I feel for you I can let myself get involved, you're not just a bad boy in a leather jacket, you're a bad guy who makes impulsive decisions not caring who gets hurt or caught in the cross fires and right now I need to stay away from that" she explained to the hybrid who didn't that that so well

"so I'm good enough for you to blow of some steam but nothing else" his whole demeanour changed as he untangled himself.

"maybe you should just go" Bethan huffed pick up her jeans and coat.

"That's your problem you don't like what people say so you throw a tantrum like a child and you wonder why I don't want this together further" she scoffed.

The brunette stormed out of the Mikaelson manner into her own little loft where she found Caroline.

"I know I'm a shitty friend, and I'm so so sorry I forgot your birthday but he's gone Tyler is gone for good" the blonde cried and Bethan ran to her side hugging her.

"I'm so sorry Caroline" she whispered as she listened to her best friend cry. That's Bethan's downfall no matter how badly people treat her she's always there for them.

"Did you atleast have a fun birthday?" She knew she had to lie,.

went to some frat party, no big deal" she replied shrugging her shoulders as if it was no big deal.

"Well you'll never guess what elena did" That's the one thing Bethan loved about Caroline she was always that same 13 year old gossiping girl. After Caroline finished telling her the story,

"that bitch" Beth admitted and Caroline agreed nodding her head.

"wanna help me clean the Salvatore house?" The vampire asked Bethan gave her the really look.

"cleaning really?" Beth groaned throwing her head back making her blonde vampire friend laugh shaking her head.

"I mean, I clean and we drink the remaining contents of the party liquor?" Caroline offered and the werewolf pretend to wipe fake tears from her eyes.

"wow early morning day drinking you really must love me" the Gilbert girl fake cried hugging her friend.

"Let me just get changed." She smiled at her friend.

Caroline was cleaning the upstairs while Bethan ended up actually cleaning, she was swigging the remaining few ounces of beer before trashing the cup.

"desperate times I take" klaus smirked at her making the brunette roll her emerald green eyes.

"what are you doing here?" Beth groaned after he kicked her out.

"not judging you for starters although if your determined to get drunk the perhaps I could recommend something a little more sanitary" the hybrid tried hard to laugh as Bethan finished off another cup.

"well then you showed me" Bethan didn't understand how bipolar he was this morning he kicked her out of his bed now he wanted to flirt shamelessly with her.

"Shouldn't you be out chasing Tyler to the ends of the earth or are there still some hopes and dreams you want to destroy here first?" Bethan sassed as she continued to 'clean' the rest of the beer up.

"Depends do you happen to know where the young Brutus is?" Klaus questioned earning an eye roll from the teenager.

"I know where he's not, he's not at home getting ready to take Caroline to prom" she bitched and Klaus moved in closer.

"Tyler made it his life's mission to kill me, you can't hate me for driving him away" he whispered to her, flashbacks of the night they spend together came in her head.

"I can now if you don't mind id like to get back to spiraling so go away" klaus' face dropped with Beth said those final two words, he could see she was hurt from this morning.

"Actually I asked him to be here" stefan informed the girl making both Caroline and Bethan let out a why whine.

"this is why us Gilbert's like Damon" she fired at stefan sitting down in a huff crossing her arms over her chest.

"we need his help to find Silas we think he's in mystic falls" he confessed. Stefan explained the whole Silas thing to klaus.

"okay so how do we stop him?" Bethan asked the million dollar question.

"Bonnie said Silas needs 3 massacres to complete his spell, he convinced Shane to blow up the council next he had klaus kill his hybrids and now he only needs one more masacre to complete the spell" stefan told klaus.

The four of them where now in Shane's office.

"what are we even looking for?" Caroline asked the four of them where rifling through his belongings not knowing what they where actually looking for.

"Well if Shane really was helping with Silas chances are he helped him plan his next move" stefan told them, Caroline and Bethan 'looked' around not really paying attention.

"where on his evil villain to do list.. steal blood, perform 3 massacres pick up dry cleaning" beth jokes searching the book case earning a small laugh from her blonde best friend.

"not to nit pick be we evil villains usually have are minions pick up dry cleaning and that sort of thing." Klaus taunted Bethan Who Just give him the middle finger.

"Why is he necessary again" Caroline questioned coming to her best friends rescue.

"Well we don't know what Silas can do, so if we do have to go head to head with him an evil original hybrid who can't die might come in handy" stefan explained. Bethan gave the blonde a nod admitting it was a good idea.

"besides stefan and I work well together or atleast we did in the 20s" Bethan rolled her eyes getting bored, she tuned out their bickering when klaus said something.

"don't underestimate the allure of darkness stefan even the purest hearts are drawn to it" looking at the young werewolf. Bethan tore her eyes away for klaus.

"I think I found something" she brought it over to the desk dropping the book onto the cluttered desk

"it talks about expression triangles" she pointed out in the book. Stefan began to read out the book.

"in some schools of magic such as Expression, human sacrifice can be used as a focus for power. It is rumored that the addition of two supernatural sacrifices compounds the mystical energy, creating an Expression Triangle." Caroline looked at the picture.

"here look humans- the councils fire" her finger trailed down the the next part.

"demons- klaus' hybrid failure" she smirked making Bethan laugh.

"Well I wouldn't really call it a failure what's the third?" He asked Caroline. That's when Caroline slapped her hand over her own mouth.

"Caroline what is it" stefan asked

"its witches"

The four of them made a move Caroline and Stefan trying to find Bonnie while klaus and Bethan tried to figure out where it was going to happen. Both poring over a map of Mystic Falls. Bethan, with a ruler and a pen, draws lines on the map while she talks.

"Okay so There've been two massacres. Pastor Young's farm is here, and the old Lockwood cellar, where you spitefully slaughtered 12 of your own hybrids, is here. According to the book, the Expression Triangle is equilateral, putting it here." Bethan explained draws another two lines, forming a triangle on the map smiling at her self a little for figuring it but klaus laughed slightly.

"Somebody's been skipping their geometry classes." Klaus remarked, As he took the ruler and pen from Bethan

"There are actually two places where the third massacre could be." He draws two more lines, forming another triangle opposite of Bethan's

"well you didn't let me finish" she tried to defend her self, catching the hybrids stare for a moment. The door to the office opened causing Beth to jump

"Hey did you find Bonnie?" She asked the vampires.

"No, but I talked to her dad. I think I found Silas." Bethan ended up trudging through the woods with klaus trying to get a good look at his phone

"I just want to see where we are." She informed the hybrid.

"You know, when we split up you did have the option of going with Stefan and Caroline" he reminded the brunette, she rolled her eyes and scoffed.

"oh Yeah? And leave Bonnie's life in your hands? Fat chance. Do you even know how to read a map?" She exclaimed klaus was annoyed by her insinuation.

"Yes, and do you know who taught me? My friend Magellan" he responded pocketing his phone and the Young werewolf gasped

"Wow! You had a friend. Was he drawn to your darkness, too?" She asked sarcastically Klaus has the lobsided grim on his face

"Actually, I was referring to Damon and Elena when I said that, but clearly it struck a chord with you." Looking Bethan right in the eyes.

"It's because it's not true! There is no allure to darkness." She tried to defend her self. klaus stopping and turning round to face her.

"Really? So you've never felt the attraction that comes when someone who's capable of doing terrible things for some reason cares only about you?" He asked getting closer to Bethan. She swallowed hard at the closeness.

"I did once, when I thought he was worth it, but it turns out some people can't be fixed. People who do terrible things are just terrible people." She informed Klaus merely looks at her, stone-faced. He then changed the subject.

"We're here, although judging by the lack of witches, here is not the correct location." Leaving Bethan to groan.

Bethan and klaus joined the witches circle.

"They're linked. Bonnie's gonna kill them." Stefan told them as he and Caroline clinched in pain.

"Not if the witches kill her first." Klaus slams Stefan up against a tree. Bethan was in complete shock.

"Klaus, we need to save her." Caroline told him.

"How? The only way to stop the witches is to kill them, and then Silas gets what he wants." What he was saying had a huge amount of trust in it that's when the witch in the circle started to chant again.

"Spirits, take her soul. Free her from darkness." Aja holds the dagger over Bonnie as Bonnie screams in pain.

"Caroline do something" Bethan yelled and Suddenly Caroline vamp-runs into the circle and pulls the dagger into Aja's chest, killing her. Beth sighed in relief knowing her friend was safe but klaus had a different reaction.

"no" he screamed. Caroline and Bethan watches as the witches forming the circle begin to drop dead and the torches' flames burn out. The girls looks around, and the blonde vampire shocked by what she's done, but then remembers why she did it to save her friend. Both Bethan and Caroline raced up to their witch friend.

"Bonnie. Bonnie!" They both yelled out Bonnie opens her eyes and they are still milky-white. smiling eerily she spoke out

"The triangle is complete." Before she collapsed on the ground.

"Well shit" Bethan responded.

Klaus, Bethan and Caroline are in the woods. The sun can now been seen from the trees Klaus shoves a shovel into the ground while Caroline and Bethan sits nearby klaus admired his work.

"There. Twelve graves for twelve witches. Like it never happened. Only it did happen, and now Silas has everything he needs to open the gates to hell on earth." He was practically bitching.

"You were just gonna let Bonnie die." Caroline tried to defend her action and Klaus walked closer.

"I know arithmetic isn't either one of your strong point, but one is still less than twelve." He pointed out to the girls. Bethan stood up.

"Yeah, but that one is our best friend." She reminded him.

"You tell yourself whatever you need to so you can sleep at night." That's when Caroline came to a dreadful realisation.

"I just killed twelve people." She whispered shrinking down by her self.

"it's fine Caroline okay, you didn't know that was going to happen" Bethan hugged her trying to give her some sort of comfort.

"oh so if you don't mean to do it it's fine, like how you killed those 11 people the night of your first transformation?" He asked Bethan instead all he got was a smack to the face.

"we've all done terrible things klaus but what make us different is we didn't enjoy it nor do we boost about it. We feel like this shitty and guilty" she yelled at him. Bethan shoved past him taking Caroline home.
