"Donnie?" You called out as you pushed your wheelchair to your best friend's lab. "I came here as fast as I could."
You yelped out loud when Donnie popped out of nowhere with his goggles on and a wide grin evident on his face. Just as you were about to cuss him out for scaring you, you were suddenly being pushed into the lab. You cling to your armrests with your eyes wide at the speed. He stopped and ran towards a table.
"Donnie, what the heck?!" You shouted, confused and shocked. Your face scrunched up in confusion once you realized he was talking to himself excitedly. The only explanation you could get is that he was very excited to show you a new invention. He was never this excited unless it was an invention but he wasn't this ecstatic though. "What's going on?"
"Oh, you are going to love this, (Y/N)! I just know it!" He said, turning to you. "You know how you've been saying how you want to at least walk around again?"
You nodded, still confused about the whole ordeal. You were in a car crash that left you paralyzed from the hips and down. There was nerve damage and while the doctors told you you couldn't walk anymore, you were beyond upset. Your boyfriend, Mikey, tried to cheer you up during your recovery and while you couldn't do things with him and the others, he found creative ways to still do things you couldn't do anymore. You loved him for being so creative and he always found a way to make you smile.
Your best friend was there for you to make things easier around the lair and everyone contributed. While it was terrible you couldn't do some of the activities you used to participate with them, they tried to make things easier and enjoyable for you. They pitied you at first but they stopped when you snapped at them. They learned that you were still you and nothing was going to change that.

When you were let out of the hospital with a wheelchair, Donnie snuck into your home and did a few changes to the wheelchair so you wouldn't have to move the wheels just to get anywhere. Your parents were shocked and question the changes but you made up a lie. They were wary but left you alone, still suspicious though and you didn't care. Your best friend listened to you ramble and comforted you when you needed it. He knew how much you wanted to walk again but you stopped talking about it after a few months. You learned to accept it and did what you still could do and you were happy again.
Sometime last month, you realized you could feel some few touches, even if it was light, it was still there. When you told Donnie, he started to think. You looked at him confused and asked but he just said that he has an idea and just left you even more confused. You could apparently make small movements but the doctors said that your body was still healing.
And now you were still confused. Why was he so excited? This wasn't the same excitement he held when he made something, whatever he invented, it was special. He didn't say anything but stepped away and you gasped. On the table was a contraption, an exoskeleton that you could wear around your hips to your legs. It reminded you of Rhodes in Avengers.
"Do you like it?" Donnie asked, hesitantly. While he knew you wished to walk again, he also knew you grew to be content without it. But he wanted to show you that you can still do it if you want to and all he wanted to see is you smiling. You knew that he wasn't good when it came to being affectionate but you learned to see it through other actions.

"Like it? I love it!" You said looked up with a bright and blinding smile on your face. "Can I try it?"
"No, this was for my other best friend." He said with a blank look. You returned it with a raised eyebrow. He rolled his eyes and a small smile showed as he went to prepare his invention.
You were grateful for having such an amazing best friend and you wouldn't want to replace him or any of your friends. They made things easier for you and you were glad. Whatever obstacle you were going to face in the future you knew you could trust your friends to have your back.
