In the New Mexico desert, Kira and Noshiko face three Skinwalkers. Kira manages to hold them off for a bit with her sword. She is blinded by some dust and ends up pinned to the rocks with a spear through her shoulder.

The Skinwalkers say Kira is frightened of herself. They say they will try to help her. If they can't, if Kira fails, she will be forced to stay with them and become a Skinwalker like them forever.

Stiles is outside Scott's house working on his Jeep with Selene. Inside, Liam is waiting when Scott comes downstairs. Liam is eager to tell Scott about the resurrected chimaera and Theo's pack but Scott says he already knows. He is surprised and pleased to learn that Hayden is back from the dead. Scott is in a hurry to find Kira. He says he, Selene and Stiles are heading to Shiprock, New Mexico. Liam wants to help but Scott says no. He tells him not to do anything until he gets back.

"So, what did he want?" Stiles asks.

"To help" Scott replies. Stiles picks up a socket wrench so he can continue to work on the Jeep while he and Scott talk.

"You gonna let him?" Selene asks.

"Eventually, I guess..." Scott replies. Stiles stops what he's doing and looks Scott in the eyes.

"Okay, but shouldn't he be a little higher on your priority list right now? I mean, since he's the only other actual werewolf who's wereabouts we know and that's not Selene? Your only actual Beta?" Stiles points out.

"You didn't see the way he came at me. You didn't see the look in his eyes..." Scott tries to explain and Selene scoffs.

"Well, I've been with you on a full moon, so I've seen that look" Stiles explains. They all sigh and think about their current situation before Stiles finally speaks up again.

"You want to get the band back together, Scott? You don't leave out the drummer" Stiles tells his friend. Scott sighs, frustrated but knowing Stiles is right, just as Stiles hops into the driver's seat and turns the key in his ignition, causing the Jeeps engine to roar as it successfully turns on. Scott looks impressed by the fact that Stiles got it to work, and Stiles pumps his fist in satisfaction. "Success! Yes!"Scott and Stiles hop into the Jeep, with Stiles in the driver seat, Scott in the passenger seat and Selene in the back. Scott and Stiles look at Selene.

"He sent me a text saying: 'No offence but I'm driving my own car'" Selene explains.

"What's wrong with mine?" Stiles asks kinda offene

"Ask the six very large bottles of oil in the trunk"

"Okay, we're going"

Theo and Tracey pursue the Beast to the high school Theo says they're not trying to catch it. Inside, the message "Damnatio Memoriae" is scrawled across the lockers but can only be seen using Theo's werewolf eyes. Theo says the messages are the means by which the Dread Doctors hope to get the beast to remember who it was.

Tracy points out that it's just another chimaera with a kid inside. Theo says the Dread Doctors don't care. They just needed a body because they couldn't resurrect the beast out of thin air. The teenager inside is just a side effect. Theo says the beast is probably unaware that it becomes human during the day.

Tracy explains that she read about the beast killing 113 people. Theo says it was closer to 500 according to the Dread Doctors. They hear the beast around the corner in the school hallway. Tracy flicks her claws and heads that way. She finds the Pathologist and attacks. She is knocked into a locker and is downed with little effort. The Surgeon shows up and tells Theo to leave, that he already has his pack. Theo complains that it wasn't enough. Getting a pack didn't make him an Alpha, that he's not even a real werewolf.

The Beast comes around the far corner of the hallway. It is carrying a severed head in its hand. It growls so loudly that both Tracy and Theo must cover their ears, the lockers shake and the lights flicker. When they growling stops the beast and the doctors are gone.

In the desert, a Skinwalker tends to Kira's wounds. She explains that Kira was afraid to use the sword in their earlier confrontation. Noshiko enters and explains that the Skinwalkers will test Kira tonight and that it won't be easy. She says fixing Kira could take months or years. Kira baulks at this thinking of her friends and Scott. Noshiko explains that Kira is Kitsune and has centuries to live. She warns her daughter that if the fox spirit inside her becomes too powerful it will consume her to the point that she no longer exists.

Kira is angry. She doesn't want to spend months or years learning from a couple of "crazy, half-naked women carrying spears and wearing animal pelts." Noshiko points out that Kira carries a sword and wears a leather jacket meaning they are not so different from the Skinwalkers. Kira worries that if she doesn't pass the test she will have to become a Skinwalker. Noshiko says it would keep her alive and might be the only thing that can save her.

Kira points out that all the myths about Skinwalkers say they are evil. Noshiko says the legends say the same thing about Kitsune.

Scott is in the middle of reading a book that discusses damnatio memoriae while Stiles drives the Jeep. Stiles lets out a deep breath and wipes a bead of sweat off of his brow, and Scott tugs on the collar of his shirt to try to cool off, making it clear that the heat is starting to get to them both.

"Man, I think the Jeep's overheating again" Scott points out. Stiles sighs in annoyance, but judging by his casual shrug, he doesn't seem surprised.

"Ya think?" Selene asks while venting a book in her face.

"Probably" Stiles replies. He looks at the temperature gauge, which is quickly moving from C to H.

"Should we pull over and put more antifreeze in it?" Stiles considers this for a brief moment before shaking his head and sighing.

"Yeah" He pulls over and they get out of the car. Another car pulls over a few meters away from them. A tall figure gets out.

"What's going on?" The guy asks as he jogs over. It's Brett.

"The jeep was overheating again" Scott explains. They put some antifreeze in he car and Brett decides to just ride with them and that'll pick his car up on the way back.

"Okay, so you're the person who always knows everything. What's Damnatio memoriae?" Scott asks Selene.

"Damnatio memoriae was a Roman practice, a government decree to destroy the images of the damned. They would scratch off their names from inscriptions, chisel their face off of statues. The Romans believed it was a punishment worse than death." Selene explains. Stiles nods in understanding as he puts the pieces together.

"Being forgotten" Stiles realises and Selene nods in agreement.

"Damnatio memoriae was also later used on a serial killer in 1598 known as the Demon Tailor. He lured children into his shop in Paris, where he would kill them and boil the flesh off their bones to eat. The courts believed the crimes so horrible, they ordered all documents destroyed. To this day, no one knows his real name. They sometimes call him Le Loup-garou de Châlons" Stiles looks horrified when he realizes what this means.

"So, the Dread Doctors resurrected a killer who was so bad that he had to literally be erased from history?"

"A killer that became a werewolf" Brett adds.

"Which probably made him a better killer. That's great" Stiles finishes. Stiles revs his engine and hits the gas, clearly in a hurry to get Kira back and return to Beacon Hills.

The PA at the high school announces that all of Mr O'Quinn's classes have been cancelled and that the teacher is missing. Liam sees Hayden with Theo and bows up. Mason urges him not to do anything, to not get involved. Theo and Hayden walk away. Liam is seething.

Scott and Stiles are still on their way to Shiprock to bring Kira back. They have traded seats, with Scott driving and Stiles riding in the passenger seat, (Brett and Seleen still in the back) and after a period of silence, Scott makes conversation.

"You still not talking to Malia?" Stiles sighs and hesitates for a moment before he answers.

"Uh, she's not talking to me" Stiles replies. Scott gives him a skeptical look.

"Or, anyone, I guess..." Scott sighs as well before he comes clean about what he knows.

"I think I know why. I think she found her mother" Stiles' eyes widen in shock.

"Her mother? As in the Desert Wolf?"

"Yeah" Stiles looks horrified and concerned by this news.

"I knew she was still looking. She erased her name off my board, but I just... I knew she hadn't stopped"

"When I was at her house, I'm also... pretty sure Braeden was there, too" This revelation seems to shock Stiles as well.

"Braeden? What, did you catch her scent?"

"Actually, it was her motorcycle. I smelled her exhaust"

"What the hell do you think they're gonna do?" Scott shakes his head, though it's clear he knows more than he's letting on.

"Something that Malia doesn't want to tell us about, so... probably something bad" Stiles notices the look on Scott's face and immediately realizes what is going on.

"Oh, my God! You already know, don't you? It's like... It's the chemosignals, right?" Scott hesitates for a moment before he finally nods in agreement.

"Aggression" Stiles looks extremely concerned by this news, though he seems to know the answer to his question before he even asks it.

"How much?"

"I think she's gonna kill her. She's gonna kill her mother"

"Why do I feel like I'm watching a tv show or reading a very crappy story?" Brett asks Selene in a whisper.

"If we are, let's not break the fourth wall" Selene replies and Brett just looks at her as if she's crazy. The engine starts to sputter, and Scott looks panicked.

"What's happening?" Scott asks. Stiles frowns and focuses on what is going on for a moment before he determines the problem.

"Um... Yeah, we're out of gas. It's out of gas" Stiles replies. Scott gives Stiles a puzzled look as he gestures toward the dashboard.

"It says we have half a tank"

"Yeah, not necessarily" Scott makes a face in exasperation.

"You didn't fix the gas gauge, did you?" Selene asks.

"Not necessarily..." Scott sighs and pulls over onto the side of the road before giving Stiles a look.

Mrs Finch is teaching about Codominance. She explains that it is "A relationship among alleles where both alleles contribute to the phenotype of the heterozygote." She then tells the students in the first and third rows to turn around. The person directly behind them will be their lab partners. Liam turns and finds Hayden directly behind him. Corey turns to find a young woman but suddenly her chair slides out of frame and Mason slips into the spot.

In math class Mrs Flemming says it seems suspicious that Scott, Selene and Stiles are all sick on the same day. She also comments that Lydia wasn't in class either. Theo says she won't be back for a while due to medical issues.

Theo spots Malia in the hallway. They stare at each other briefly before Malia continues on her way.

In Lydia's dream she walks up to Valack's old cell. Meredith appears and explains how Valack used a recording of Lydia's voice to crack the glass of his cell. She demonstrates and the cell shatters.

Mrs Finch continues with the lesson explaining that, in codominance, neither allele is recessive and that both phenotypes are expressed. She asks for an example and Corey volunteers that people with AB blood types are an example of codominance.

Their lab assignment is to determine, using genetic information, if two babies were switched at the hospital. Hayden asks Liam if he plans to talk to her. He points out that she's hanging out with a total psycho. He reminds her that Theo tried to get him to kill Scott and then did it himself. She points out that Theo brought her back to life.

Hayden says she doesn't want to die again and Scott's not up to the task. He doesn't even know what's coming but Theo does. Liam is about to say something against that when Mrs Finch interrupts their discussion.

"Just so you know, last time Selene wasn't there" Liam says before focussing on the asignment.

In the locker room, Corey asks Mason out. Mason refuses pointing out all the weirdness. He says Corey is with the bad guys. Corey says there won't be good guys or bad guys, only those who live and those who die. Corey persists. They end up kissing and Mason reconsiders the idea of the date.

Kira spear wound has healed. Noshiko says if the only way to save Kira's life is to leave her with the Skinwalkers then she will do it. Kira worries she will fail the test. Noshiko grabs her sword and says "Don't fail." With a brief look back, Kira walks off into the desert to face the skinwalkers.

Scott and Stiles are sweating profusely after having run all the way to the nearest gas station, which is mysteriously closed. Scott manages to break the chains that lock the gas pump while Stiles attempts to get into the station itself, an effort that is ultimately shown to be futile. After failing to get past the locked door, Stiles returns to the pump to talk to Scott.

"Locked" Stiles says.

"You got a twenty?" Selene then asks. Stiles digs through his pocket and finds one, wedging it in between the doors of the station to pay for their gas before returning to Scott, who has just started to fill the portable tank they brought with them. They stand in awkward silence for a moment before Stiles finally sighs and makes a confession.

"There was a pin. There was one little metal pin attached to the scaffolding. He was trying to pull me down" Stiles explains. Scott and Selene nod in understanding while Brett looks at the human interessted.

"He was trying to kill you" Scott realises.

"Yes... and then I pulled the pin... and all these metal braces came down. And one of them just... just went right through him" Scott looks pained by the realization of just how badly Theo manipulated all of them.

"Why didn't you think you could tell me?" Stiles shares a look with Selene before sighing and continuing.

"It was just the way you were looking at me that night... you know? You were standing there with a wrench in your hand, and you were looking at me like I just bashed your head in with it. You know, like I'd broken your sacred rule, and that's it-- there's no going back" Scott looks at Stiles with a serious yet kind expression for a long moment before he finally replies.

"I know the difference" Stiles, confused, makes a face, not understanding what Scott means.

"What?" Scott gives Stiles an empathetic look.

"I know what self-defence is" Stiles is clearly relieved by this reaction, but his relief is also mixed with guilt about how long he lied about Donovan's death.

Lydia is still dreaming. She's now in the library at school and finds that all the senior signatures are now missing from the bookshelves. Meredith shows up and says everyone's name is gone. Lydia wonders how she can save them. Meredith tells her not to be afraid. Suddenly Meredith is on the floor down below and Theo is holding her down. He bends her neck back and slashes her throat as Lydia screams.

A light blows out in Lydia's cell at Eichen House. Schrader and Nurse Cross hear the sound and come running. They both report hearing an explosion and, before that, a scream.

Night has fallen, and Scott, Selene, Stiles and Brett have just gotten back on the road after refilling the tank with gas. Scott is dozing in the passenger seat, and Stiles is groaning from the heat of the Jeep when he suddenly looks concerned by something ahead of him.

"Hey, Scott? Selene? Scott, take a look at this..." Stiles says. When Scott awakens, Stiles points out toward a large, tall plateau in the distance, where thunder is rumbling overhead. They're both shocked when they see lightning striking the top of the cliff, and Stiles turns to give Scott an incredulous look. "What the hell do you think's happening to her out there?"

Scott looks horrified and simply shakes his head, not knowing what could be happening as a thunderstorm forms solely above the plateau. Stiles, just as concerned as his best friend, shifts gears on the Jeep and hits the gas to speed up even faster.

Kira finds herself in darkness. An Oni warrior coalesces out of the darkness and attacks.

Stiles, Selene, Brett and Scott, concerned about what they've just witnessed at Shiprock, have stopped the Jeep several kilometers away from the plateau, where they are leaning against the vehicle while they watch the thunder and lightning overhead. Once again, the four are eerily silent, until finally, Scott, whose voice sounds pained and guilty, speaks up.

"I don't know why I believed him. I don't know why we didn't just keep talking that night. Five more minutes, and we would've figured out that there were two different stories. We would've filled a lot of blanks" Scott expresses his guilt. Scott meets Stiles eyes, and after a minute, he sighs.

"I should have been there" Selene whispers bearily audioble.

"We should've just kept talking" Scott repeats himself. Stiles gives Scott and Selene a sympathetic look.

"He knew we wouldn't. And i's not your fault" Stiles reasures his friends

"I didn't want it to happen like this"

"Like what?" Selene asks confused. Scott hesitates for a moment before he replies.

"I knew, sooner or later, one of us was going to get a little too much blood on our hands. I half-thought it would be Malia..." Scott confesses. Stiles shrugs in understanding.

"Well, she definitely seems like she's working on it..." Stiles comments.

"I just always thought that if it were to happen, then it should be me. I'm the one who's constantly putting you guys in danger, risking your lives... for people you don't even know!" Scott exclaims.

"Hey, that's not just you. Scott, we do that together so we bear the weight together" Selene says and Scott nods at her with a small smile. Stiles seems both relieved and comforted by Scott's confession, while also sympathizing with their position. After a moment, he pats Scott and Selene affectionately on the shoulder and gestures toward the Jeep.

"Come on. We've only got a few hours 'til sunrise. Come on. Let's go" Stiles turns to get into the driver's seat, but when the lightning starts to strike even heavier, Scott is distracted by the light show and stares in shock at the plateau ahead of them.

"Hey, are you guys also seeing that?" Selene asks. Stiles and Brett walk to where Scott and Selene are standing and are equally shocked when a huge bolt of lightning strikes from the top of the plateau to the base.

"It's Kira!" Scott yells and hurries back in the Jeep.

Kira parries each attack but each time she cuts the Oni the wound appears on her body. Finally, her fox spirit appears as a flaming outline around her body. It rises up and consumes the Oni. It disappears in a flash of orange light. Noshiko gets out of her SUV and looks to the now-silent hills.
