Savannah POV
The cold wind blew as I walked down the street. My heart was beating fast and my breathing was hard because I'd been running for nearly 10 minutes straight as fast as I could. I had to get away. Away from my mom, and her abusive beer bellied boyfriend. He tried to rape me again, and my mom didn't believe me. She hit me, and kicked me out. He'd been abusing me for years, he's tried to have sex with me for almost two years now.
I wish my real dad was still alive. He died when I was 9, he had lung cancer, from smoking. My mom didn't take it too well, she became abusive, but she got a boyfriend when I was 11, and she became less abusive. But he would hit me behind closed doors, saying it's my fault he doesn't have any money. It's not my fault he gambled it all away and wastes it on alcohol and drugs. But I don't live there anymore. Hopefully, if they say yes, I can live with a friend of mine. I've known her since we were in diapers, her name is Ally, but she lives like 2 miles from my house.
I was only maybe a mile and a half from my house. Walking the streets wasn't too bad, the only thing I hate is that it's pitch black right now. There's a street light every now and then but not close enough.
I started taking in my surroundings, it was quiet, too quiet. The feeling of being watched and followed lingered on my conscious. I was shaking from fear, and because it was so cold. I was wearing gray sweatpants, underneath was black leggings, I wore black knock off boots and a red sweatshirt. The only thing I was wearing under the sweatshirt was a bra of course and a black tank top. My hood was on and my hair was in two braids.
Suddenly, I heard someone walking behind me. I turned around so fast I'm surprised I didn't get whiplash.
No one.
I was still the only one on the street, so I kept walking. I should be at Ally's house in maybe 20 minutes.
I could feel a presence behind me. I turned around and no one was there, I turned back around and I was looking in a black chest. I gasped and tried to turn and run but failed since there was another chest.
I couldn't get away.
A hand went over my mouth and muffled my screens.
"She'll do." A rough voice said.
"Sleep tight." Another said before I was hit hard in the head and everything went black.

The sound of sniffing filled my ears. What's going on? I slowly opened my eyes, I was lying down on a hard surface, I could see whatever was above me. The ceiling was dirt and pipes. There were lightbulbs hanging by the ceiling also. I shot up from where I was. Where was I?
I think I got up too quickly, my head was hurting and I felt lightheaded.

"Hey new girl." A voice said.
I looked around and spotted a girl with short black hair looking at me. I pointed to myself.
"Yeah you." She said "What's your name?"
"S-Savannah."
"My name's Hazel." She said.
"W-where are we?" I asked moving towards her, she was seated on an old rundown mattress and I sat next to it.
"Underground, soon they'll come get us to be sold." Hazel said.
"Who's they? And why are we going to be sold?! And why are you so calm about this??!" I asked frantically.
"Relax. The people are the ones who sell us, this is human trafficking, and as long as you obey you won't get hurt." She said calmly.
"H-How long have you been here?" I asked.
"Two and a half years, this is my seventh time being sold." She said. She looked me in the eye, she looked broken and hurt. Her eyes were similar to mine, empty, except hers were emptier.
"I don't care what happens to me at this point. I wanna die but I don't have the guts to kill my self." She said.
It's sad that she's at the point in her life where she doesn't care what happens to her. Where she wants to die but can't do it herself. But I can't say anything, I'm near there also.
"Isn't th-there a way we can escape?" I asked.
"Don't you think I've tried that?" She asked in a duh tone.
"There's no way out unless you get extremely lucky." She said.
I've never been lucky. My life story proves it all.
"When's the next sold thing?" I asked not too sure what they call it here.
"The next auction is tonight." She said.
"Wait, what's today?" I asked.
"I'm not too sure, but I do know that you've been asleep for like three days, those men must have hit you hard." She said.
"What will happen to me?" I asked her even though I was terrified of her answer.
"There's no telling, you could become a maid, a sex slave, a whore, a submissive, or you could get a nice owner and they might let you go." She said.
"What's a submissive?" I asked scooting closer to her. For some odd reason I felt sort of safe with her.
"Basically, a person submits to a dominant person, you're forced to submit to them, if you don't you get beat, sold again, or killed. They'll tie you up and do whatever. You just have to listen to like everything they say. Some people are kinky and bring in that freaky mommy and daddy shit. Some of them will take care of you, you never know." She said.
"How many other girls are here?" I asked hesitantly.
"I don't know, hundreds...thousands even."
"How old are you?"
"Twenty-two, you?"
"Seventeen, are ther-"
I was about to ask another question when I was interrupted by a loud man.

"Rise and shine whores, it's time for the auction!" A man said evilly.
"Just get up, follow them, don't fight. If you listen you won't get hurt, got it?" Hazel said quickly as we got up.
"O-ok." I said back. I followed Hazel who was walking towards the men, girls started appearing out of the shadows. They had red puffy eyes and some were beat up. The sight sent shivers down my spine.
'If you listen you won't get hurt.' I repeated in my head over and over.
We walked down a long hallway into a large room that had, showers and make up counters everywhere. The girls were spilt up, I'm guessing there were several other rooms similar to this one. There was about 30 girls in this room, including Hazel and I.
"Alright girls, each and every single one of you are to shower and shave everything below your nose. If you fail to get it done you will be beat, and sent to someone who'll do it for you. Once you're done, go to wardrobe and make yourself look nice, makeup has of course been provided, you have three hours. If you fail to get done within the given time, you will be given away to the rippers. Goodluck!" A woman said, she had an evil glisten in her eyes and an evil smile imprinted on her lips.
"Come on. We need to be first." Hazel said grabbing my arm and rushing me towards the showers.
"W-Who are the rippers?" I asked her.
"A large group of men who'll treat us in inhumane ways. They'll have you begging them to kill you. Now let's get a move on, I'm not trying to come back." She said.
By the showers there was an assortment of shower gels, shaving creams and razors. The showers weren't clean but they weren't that dirty either. I guess since these people really want us to be sold they provide nearly the best to have us look good.
I chose a coconut vanilla scented gel and followed Hazel to a shower. None of the showers had dividers so there were scared naked girls everywhere.
Hazel and I took 15 minute showers along with washing our hair, then we spent probably 30 minutes shaving, which was hard considering we were standing. Afterwards we washed ourselves once again then left the showers and dried off. This was probably the most uncomfortable experience of my life.
"Why would we need to shave everything under our noses?" I asked Hazel as we walked over to wardrobe.
"Sometimes girls have beards." She said simply.
"Oh." I responded awkwardly.
When we got over to the wardrobe area there were racks and racks of lingerie and dresses.
"Wow." I said looking at everything.
"Yeah, they need us to look nice, the prettier you look the more you'll pay for." She said.
Hazel put on some dark red lingerie and I stuck with the basic black. Then she looked for a dress to wear, I thought everything was either too revealing or too long. So I stuck with a white mid thigh dress and Hazel had on a tight black dress that had a deep v cut that showed off her chest.
"Come on, I'll do your hair." Hazel said to me.
"Ok." I said sadly.
Everything was just hitting me, like this is my new reality. I'm going to be sold to some random person who will forever hold my life in their hands.
Why me?
I want to have a future. I want to find love and grow old with somebody and have kids and grandkids. I want to be happy, not spend every waking moment wondering when the next time I'll be hit comes.
The time went by fast, Hazel had curled my hair, some girls were still showering and getting dressed because they weren't at the showers first. Hazel told me how she ended up here and I told her the same. She too was kidnapped at night walking home from work.
The door, we all came in, suddenly slammed open and several men and women dressed in black walked in.
"All right whores! Time's up!" The lady from before said "I see a few of you haven't even gotten dressed yet. Seems like the rippers have got themselves some new pets." She sneered
Some girls went into a panic while others rushed to get their clothes on whether they were dry or not.
"If you're done follow me." She said acting innocently
"Come on hurry up cause it's about to get ugly." Hazel said.
We quickly rushed out of the room which was soon filled with screams. We walked down several long hallways and up a ton of stairs. The sound of girls screaming became distant and the only sounds that could be heard was the shoes on all of our feet and some sniffing and muffled cries every now and then.
We all walked up to a stage door where men were separating women.
"Hazel? W-what's going on?" I asked frantically, not wanting to be separated from my new friend.
"Don't worry. Just remember what I said and you'll be ok. Hopefully we will see each other again. I know you're strong because you've gone this much time even with your parents." She said with a weak smile. I let a tear fall but she quickly wiped it away. Even though we've only known each other for roughly six hours I felt like I've known her forever.
We got to the front of the line fairly quickly.
"Line One." The man said to me and another came and grabbed me. I looked back a Hazel who gave me a weak smile and mouthed 'it'll be ok' something told me it would but another said it was a lie. A man came up to her and dragged her to a line farthest away from me.
"Alright Line One it's showtime!"

Memoirs of A Healer/Clinical Social Worker: Autobiography of Bruce Whealton
A loving spouse. A healer. How does this person cope with evil villains willing to destroy everything? They convicted the victim... now how does the victim goes on with life as a healer? As the book opens, I was in a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt in December 2019. What starts as a simple conversation with another patient changed my life. Most of the rest of the book tells the reader how I got to this point. I experienced profound injustice between 2004 and 2006. By opening with a story about suicide, I want the reader to understand that the injustice was not just something that happened long ago. This book is an account of all the accomplishments and successes that I had in overcoming tremendous odds and challenges. Growing up, I was paralyzed by shyness and lacked social skills, and so the idea of becoming a psychotherapist never occurred to me when I went off to college. I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
