《Locking Stars (Stars Series #1)》10

You want to know how my week was? Horrible. Like awful, awful. Not in the sense of me being awful but school being awful. I was loaded with homework and on top of all that I had exams to do. Talk about over load.
After Derek and I watched the snow for a while and just enjoyed being alone together we walked back in the house and to the backyard. Derek stood very close to me and his demeanor was almost protective as we exited the back door. I walked us right up to our friends and Derek didn't even pretend nothing happened his hand circled into mine and I leaned into him.
That blonde girl, well I guess her name is Stacey, glared my direction the rest of the night. But I didn't let it bother me. I was just happy Derek was next to me.
Once we got back to the dorm, Daphne was giddy beyond belief that we both had someone and they were friends. I wouldn't say Derek and I were totally official yet but I guess it's close to that.
The hockey team had an away game in Colorado this week so I haven't seen him since the night of the bonfire. But that didn't stop him from spamming my phone every chance he got. At one point, I was in class and my phone buzzed so much that my teacher asked whoever it was to shut it off. I told him my class schedule after that.
I do really like him. He is different from any guy I have ever met and he listens to me. Which is always nice. I'm just excited for when he gets home so I can see him again. I 99% sure he thinks the same thing because he texts me saying,
Derek: I hate Colorado.
I laugh at my phone.
Me: Colorado can't be as bad as the math exam I just took lol.
He replies back a few minutes later.
Derek: Aw I'm sorry Mayfield. Math isn't important it's ok
I snort.
Me: Yeah tell that to my counselor who told me if I don't pass this class I won't graduate in four years.
Derek: Graduate, Smaduate
Me: huh??
Derek: Play on words, Mayfield, keep up.

I laugh at my phone and I hear the door open. Daphne walks in with a grim look on her face. Similar to the look I had about twenty minutes ago.
"Hey," she says, sadly and plops face first on her bed. "I miss Brooks." She complains.
I give a sad smile in her direction. "I know what you mean."
She turns her head to look at me and smiles. "Derek text you today?"
I roll my eyes. "Yep, he just told me to keep up because he thinks I didn't get his joke."
She giggles. "Brooks said they should be home Thursday. He said he'd meet me here." She says, giddy.
I smile. "Sounds good."
My phone buzzes again.
Derek: Oh so you're ignoring me now? Did I hurt your feelings with my jokes? :(
I laugh again.
Me: No I was talking to Daphne. She told me you'll be home Thursday.
Derek: Yep :) meet me at my house after the game on Friday, I want to show you something.
A confused look crosses my face.
Me: Show me what?
Derek: It's a surprise, dummy. Duh.
Me: Fine, fine, see you then :)
Derek: Looking forward to it. Spam you later?
Me: Don't even think about it.
Derek: fine.
TTTTTTTT
It's Thursday night and I'm currently laying in bed watching Tangled on my computer. This has to be one of my favorite movies ever so when I feel anxious or had a long week I usually put it on and relax. I'm accompanied by my favorite brand of jalapeño chips and am enjoying my night alone.
Daphne left with Brooks a few hours ago when he got home from the away game. Derek hasn't texted me since this morning when they left so he might just be tired and went to sleep.
My eyes start to get droopy and I decide to shut off my computer. It is dark in the room so I don't need to turn any light off and I plug my phone in.
I wrap myself in my blankets and just as I'm about to fall asleep a knock sounds on my door. I groan and curse whoever decided to knock on the door at eleven pm. Praying it's not my RA, I wrap one of my blankets around my shoulders so I'm still warm and get the door.

When I open it, I adjust my eyes to the light of the hallway and when I see Derek standing there my eyes widen.
"Derek?" I ask, shocked to be seeing him at my door.
He doesn't say anything but pushes himself inside and closes the door. Now it's dark and I can barely see the outline of him.
"Derek I can't se-" I say and I'm interrupted by his lips.
Once again he shocks me with those lips and I melt into him. I missed him. I haven't known him even long enough to miss him but I did.
He wraps his arms around me and I tie my hands behind his neck. He deepens the kiss and I let him. The only thing my mind processes is his warmth and his soft lips against mine. I can't get enough of him.
A few seconds later, I need to breathe and I pull apart but I'm still close to him. "Hi," I say breathlessly.
"Hi," he says back in the same tone as me but it doesn't stop the chills that run through my body at the sound. He leans his forehead on mine. "I missed you." He says and I see him swallow.
My lips part and a small smile grows on my lips. "I missed you too."
He pulls me over to the bed and hoists me up so I'm sitting facing him, him between my legs, hands on my hips and my hands resting on his arms. It's still dark but I can still make out a little of his face from the light shining in from the window.
"How were your games?" I ask kindly.
He gives a tentative nod. "Not great, but not bad either. So not the best week." He says.
I frown. "Aww I'm sorry." I say sympathetically.
He moves a hand and brushes some of my hair behind my ear. "It's okay. It's no big deal."
I feel his fingers as they trace from my cheek to my neck. Goosebumps run along the skin he touches and I can slightly see the smirk grow on his face. I lock eyes with him in the dark and lean forward to kiss him again.
This time he lays me down on the bed and hovers over me. He gently placed his arms on the bed and leans on me.
He pulls away a second later. "How was your week?" He asks, staring down at me.
I hesitate. He wants to do small talk like this? Well okay then. "Uh it was alright," I say, timidly and move my gaze off him. "You already know about math but uh yeah just a rough school week."
"I'm sorry," he says, sadly, caressing his thumb on the exposed skin from my oversized short sleeve shirt.
I shake my head. "It's not a big deal." I say closely repeating what he said to me about hockey.
He smiles down at me and I return a smile. He pecks my lips and moves himself so he's laying on his side next to me.
My bed isn't that big and when I turn to face him we are so close our noses touch. "Why did you decide to come?" I whisper.
He shrugs his shoulders. "Daphne came over and wouldn't stop talking about your guys lunch date yesterday and how that guy was hitting on you." A disgusted look crosses his handsome face.
I roll my eyes. Daphne and I went to Panera yesterday and the cashier kept asking me questions. I brushed him off and he eventually got the hint but Daphne mentioned that she was maybe going to tell Derek and looks like she did.
"Oh that was nothing," I say. "It was quite annoying actually."
He raises an eyebrow. "Oh really?" He questions.
I nod. "Mhm, but then a second later, a certain someone texted me about how their coffee was cold and it made them angry." I say giggling about Derek's text sent me yesterday.
"It was gross!" He says exasperated.
We just laugh together and the rest of the night was spent giggling and teasing each other until I fell asleep wrapped in Derek's arms.
