as it turned out, stan and bill had lunch at the same time. stan was happy enough to show him around, and bill was grateful to have a friend with him. to be honest with himself, he's never had one since 'the tragedy'.
he sat down at a corner table at lunch, and there was a small tab on the table labeled, "the losers". he didn't seem to mind he was being insulted.
my head swung around to meet a smiling gaze. "so this is billy willy, i've heard so much about." i heard, and i nodded. she was beautiful. she had a cute, button nose. red, curly, short hair to compliment her freckles and blue, sparkly eyes.
"take a picture, bud." she joked, and i only nodded, as she raised his eyebrows, looking at stan.
"you were serious? he can't talk, at all?" she asked stan, and he nodded, taking out a neatly cut peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
i sat there awkwardly, tapping my fingers on the table.
"yeah," he took a bite, and shallowed. "i don't know, he hasn't really explained why."
my face grew red. did he expect me to tell them?
he must have sensed my sudden panic. "which i don't expect him to." he finished, and i slumped down in the lunch seat.
the girl nodded, sitting down as well. bev, i had remembered him saying before, and i hoped i was right.
next some black kid sat down. they may have come out bad, but it was just the first thing i noticed. the red head, curly fry, and the black kid. bev, stan, and mike, as mike had told me.
he seemed nice, he did ask if i had a mental illness or something, but i didn't might, knowing i got that a lot.

some muscleman sat next to bev, and she kissed him on the cheek, which was cute. he was taller, had glasses, and maybe muscleman was an exaggeration, because it was mainly fat.
"is this everyone?" i wrote, sliding the notebook to stan, who nodded no.
"eddie and richie. they're always late though."
"probably sharing saliva in the bathroom." bev snorted, causing the whole table to laugh. a couple. at least they accepted gays.
bev looked at my serious expression. "i'm kidding. they would be cute together though. you're not homophobic are you?" she asked, and i immediately nodded, no, and she smiled.
"i'm gay." i wrote in my notebook, sliding it over to her. she saw it and smiled, placing a hand on my shoulder, startling me a bit.
"don't worry, we support you."
then he pulled out a pack of cigarettes with a lighter. "want one?" she asked, and i shook my head. she nodded, handing one to a kid that had appeared behind her.
"thanks love." someone winked at her, getting a light from her and bringing it to his lips, letting smoke erupt in the cafeteria. luckily nobody seemed to care, so they both continued to smoke.
"this is richie, bill. and this is eddie." stan cut in. richie fixed his glasses, his black curls covering his forehead.
"welcome to the losers club asshole." he laughed, kicking his legs on the table, near eddie's lunch.
"don't you fucking dare, tozier. keep those disgusting feet away from my lunch and that disgusting cancer stick away from my nose. if i die from second hand smoking, my last words will be put richie and bev in jail. and then i'll die." eddie snapped, throwing richie's feet off the table.

bev and richie both laughed, not dazed by eddie's rant.
"hey, you want to be in the group chat?" stan asked me, and i shrugged, not wanting to barge into their gang, or whatever they were. club, as richie had put it.
"here." bev handed me her phone, and i typed my number in, along with my name, 'bill'.
bev smirked and changed my name to 'big bill', which made me laugh. i could feel all eyes on me when i did, and i quickly hid my face in my notebook, embarrassed that everyone had heard me.
my phone rang, and i saw multiple random numbers texting me.
im richie dipshit
watch ur fucking language
i assumed that one was eddie, since richie seemed to look over at eddie and give him a small chuckle, before the both of them laughed.
bev :))
benny boy
i'm mike.
stannnn the mannnn
i saved all their names, smiling to myself the entire time, not noticing that stan was staring at me, smiling at my smile in return.
i had friends.
