Reading is a universal pastime, in fact, people read more nowadays than before. A study even showed that people who love reading literature especially fiction can have a higher impact on their emotional intelligence and behaviors. They exhibit more empathy than people who watch television. They have greater awareness and empathy for other people's feelings, while binge-watchers are less friendly and less understanding of other's views. Reading helps people think more deeply and develop emphatic skills in understanding the situation where the character is going through unlike watching, it only gives information about the person's reaction. Fiction books widen the reader's knowledge and comprehension of someone's aspect of the world. Thus, reading is not only for escaping reality but also enhance emphatic skills and perhaps change perspectives in life and on others.
