《》17. Holy Shit

People yelled and clapped as we walked in.
I smiled at some of the familiar faces, watching Reid's face remain in a hardened expression.
I could adapt to my environment well, and I could adapt to Reid.
I knew my place. I was his wife, this was his. His people, his men, his crime, his mafia.
It all belonged to Reid. I was his. Even in our personal life I was his. I would be forever and always. But in this environment he was dominant, he was feared.
I would never force him to ever be anything otherwise. All I want is his respect and for him to not be different toward me.
But I needed to learn and understand that he was scary and he is a murderer and a drug trafficker.
This shit was real.
I wouldn't always live in my little happy bubble with him. But I will always stand beside him.
He rubbed his thumb across my knuckles.
His dad was standing at the stage, a microphone connected as people calmed down.
"It's a big day! Tonight we celebrate the solidification of our Queen. From this day on, Tori I hope you're listening well, but you have duties. You're number two, you need to be brought in. You need to learn to politic, you need to learn to be ruthless, and you need to know how to help your people." He stared me down in the most fatherly way possible.
"I doubt Reid brought this up to you, legally he is unable until tonight. You will run the trafficking, you will be apart of the... business duties and the meetings. You're part of the family." He held up his glass as everyone else did.
"To Victoria Weston!" He shouted and everyone yelled my name before they drank.

My heart was in my ass.
"Now to my son, here." He offered the microphone.
His father came down to me when he took the microphone.
He grabbed my hand, looping it through his arm, I clutched his bicep.
"Breathe dear." He whispered and I tried.
"It's been a while." He cleared his throat and he had everyone's attention, his body commanding, his face of beautiful steel.
"First off, I apologize for what happened at the wedding party. It got violent, but I don't accept acts of sexual intent toward my wife." He looked around and I had the chills. I didn't know what was happening.
"Victoria, I'm sorry for being unable to tell you of these things. But I believe you suit this responsibility best. You're badass, you're confident, and you're gorgeous. I wouldn't ask for anything more. Now I know we have a few new people that couldn't make it to the wedding as they were on business trips so could I ask you to come to me?" He asked, tilting his head.
I nodded, his dad walking me to the stairs.
I held up the bottom of my dress, Reid immediately offering his hand and I took it.
"This is the love of my life. The woman I trust with my soul. I know these things don't usually get too touchy-feely but she didn't get the wedding or party she deserves. So tonight will be a do over." He gave me a small smile.
"She's more comfortable now, I'm a bit more in love, and there's so much more food so no one will go hungry." He looked to the people and they laughed.
My face burned.
"Hold this." He handed me the microphone and I held it as he dug in his pocket.

People stared with anticipation and I was so lost.
He pulled out a box and I paused.
He grabbed the microphone, kneeling down.
"Stop." I said and he laughed.
"Now I know you already have a ring. But I got you something a little bigger, a little better." He opened it and I gasped.
There's no fucking way.
"Victoria, when this arrangement was put in place, I wanted it to please my parents, I didn't expect you. I come home to dinner, I come home to someone who helps me relax, and I come home to someone who makes me look forward to the end of everyday." He winked at me and I felt myself get emotional.
"Victoria Weston, I vow this now, I'm kneeling for you front of everyone, you're the only thing on this earth I will submit too. I praise the ground you walk on, I value the words you speak, I respect every opinion your incredible mind has, and I will comfort you in any hardship you face. I promise this to you as your husband, so Victoria, will you take this ring?" He smiled and I laughed.
"Yes!" I nodded and he stayed kneeling as he took my other one off, putting this on my finger instead.
"Holy shit." I said and it echoed in the microphone making everyone laugh.
He stood, grabbing my hand and kissing my knuckles.
I smiled and he tilted his head at me.
"You're gorgeous." He whispered when the microphone was shut off.
"You're perfect." I wanted to jump on him and make out with his sexy ass but I remained calm.
"I try." He held my waist, kissing my forehead.
