Two years ago
Eren wipes his eyes, Mikasa words echoing through his mind. He dug his heel into the horses side harder, making it run faster, he wanted to get away as fast as possible. It was only a matter of time before the corps send out a party to find him.
"Damn you.." He thought to himself, "You should've kept your mouth shut"
He rode, and rode until he made it to the country side, which took a few hours. He noticed his stomach was growling, and his horse was exhausted, and needed water, or it would collapse.
It was starting to get dark, and he also needed to find shelter. Suddenly, the horse got spooked, he didn't see by what, but it threw him off, and ran back off in a random direction.
Eren screamed at the horse when he got up. "Damn you! You worthless animal!"
In anger he picked up a stone and threw it as hard as he could in the direction of the horse. After some cursing, he walked aimlessly, to try to find some sort of shelter. He stumbled upon a shallow cave in a hill, it looked like someone blew a hole into it. He went inside, and huddled into it, and fell asleep.
The next morning, he woke up and was instantly hit with hunger. He searched for his food, but he couldn't find it. It then came to him, he forgot it on his dresser, right next to the door. He rushed out so fast, he didn't even remember to pack food.. luckily he had water however. He drank some, then decided to head out to find food.
He returned when it was getting dark... with nothing. Not a single scrap, his stomach felt like it was screaming, but he couldn't satisfy it. He just laid down, and forced himself to sleep.
Days had passed, and he was out of water, and had no food, He was miserable. How he'd wish he was back with him friends at the camp, eating, drinking, and having a good time. In his desperation, he climbed atop the large hill, one last time, just to see if he missed something, anything. His eyes scanned the horizon, when he saw something.

It looked like... A large hole, he saw something reflective, water.. And where there's water, there's fish. He started running down the hill, almost stumbling over his own feet, as his exhausted legs ran, He found himself at the mouth of the hole, it was huge, he didn't know how he didn't come across it before. It was a hidden spring! The cliff edges came out just enough to cover the water, and the trees concealed most of the hole.. except for just one little part.
He started scanning the rocks for any way in, and he saw one, about twenty feet from him, was a less steep decline, that if he was careful, he could make it down. Eren ran to the decline, and made it down, before running into the water. He didn't waste any time, and started drinking it. The first swallow was like heaven, and he kept cupping his hands, and drinking more, and more, until he felt like he was going to throw up.
He then stared lookin for food, scanning the water for any fish, and the land for any type of fruit, he walked out of the lake, and searched for any berries, or anything he could eat. His eyes landed on a stick, about three feet in length, with a slightly pointed edge on one end. He then got an idea, and picked it up, before finding a stone, and he began grinding the stick on it, sharpening it to a pointed edge. He made his way back to the water, and stood still. An hour of just standing there, waiting, the fish became curious, and began swimming closer, right when one was just a foot or so away, he threw the spear down, but he missed, causing the fish to scatter, he cursed to himself, and went to grab the spear.
He moved a few meters away, and stood there, the fish came back within 30 minutes and he tried again, throwing slightly to the right, but he missed again, just by a hair.

"Dammit!" He yelled in his head "Why is this so damn difficult!"
He waited even longer this time, waiting for them to come closer, and when one was just a foot from him, he slammed the spear down, nailing it right through its head, he nearly jumped.
"Hell yeah!" he shouted, "I can't wait to tell Mikasa and Armin about this!" He beamed, before the smile faded, into a slight frown "If I ever see them again.."
He pulled the fish up, and threw it on the beach, and waited again. This time, he decided to try to get one a few feet away again. When one swam up, he threw the spear at an angle, and caught it right in the middle of the body, he nearly screamed when he saw it hit the sandy bottom, kicking the sand up. He walked over, and picked it up out of the water, watching the fish wiggle, before becoming limp. He brought it up, and picked up the other fish, then he walked back to his cave. He set the fish down on a clean shirt be brought, then rummaged through his bag, to find the flint he managed to sneak out of the camp before he left. He then grabbed a dull blade he had, and set them on the floor.
He looked for anything he could use as kindling. Stepping out of the cave, Eren noticed a dying tree, and with drying trees there are dying leaves. He grabbed as many as he could, and went back to the cave, putting them in a pile, he it the blade with the flint, and sparks sprinkled over the leaves, but died out fast. He struck them together again, nothing, again, and they landed in the leaves, and nearly died out, he was about to quit, when a gust of wind blew through, and the sparks stared to glow again, before dying out. Eren noticed this, and struck the two okey together again, and then blew, and blew. He kept this up until there was smoke, then covered the thing up with leaves, and blew again, the fire erupted, immediately, Eren threw sticks on it to keep it going, then took the fish and held it over, cooking it, he grabbed his spear, and propped it on a rock, then put a fish on it, to cook it, a few minutes later, he heard it sizzling and crackling, and looked over to see it burning, he quickly took it off, and put it on a plate he "borrowed" from the camp...
Present time
"...and I began to eat it. It was burnt to hell, but that seemed like the best meal I had in weeks." Eren said, then he looked over to Mikasa, to see her sleeping peacefully, a slight smile formed on her face.
He stood up, and picked her up, and began carrying her to her room.
"I'll have to tell you more tomorrow, eh?" He whispered, before placing her under her sheets, and taking the scarf off, folding it up and putting it on the night stand next to her bed. He then walked to the door, and took another glance at Mikasa, who was smiling now, and he shut the door.
