《Sunrise ~ An Eremika Story》Chapter 8

"You guy's should've seen the sunrise this morning." Sasha remarked with her mouth full of bread. "I can't believe you guys wake up early." Connie muttered.
"It's worth the view." Mikasa added, taking a bite of the toasted bread.
"I bet we'll get a great view of the sun rising over the wall from the interior, you know Mikasa?" Jean reported. Mikasa quietly hummed in agreement, yet not convinced by his statement. It seemed like Jean would try and boast about the interior any chance he got, and it always got on a certain someone's nerves.
Eren groaned in disgust, and followed it up by rolling his eyes.
"Don't worry Eren, I'm sure you'll get a good view of the sunrise through the mouth of a titan." Jean sneered. Eren clenched his fists and glared across the table at him, prepared to punch him straight in the nose if he let out another sound.
"Cadets." the commander's voice boomed from the doorway. "We have another sparring day today. Get with a partner and meet me out front in ten minutes." he ordered.
Everyone began shuffling around the room, meeting up with someone who equally matched their strength.
Mikasa sighed and stood, ready to go find Reiner and Bertolt. She didn't mind training with them, but they always seemed to be whispering about something. Maybe they were gossiping, Mikasa didn't really know.
"Mikasa!" Eren shouted as he sprang up from his seat. She tilted her head, waiting for him to continue.
"Spar with me." he insisted, walking up to her. She furrowed her brow, "But last time-" "It won't be like last time. Trust me." he stated with a determined expression.
She shrugged, "Alright."

...
"Begin!" the commander shouted. Mikasa threw Eren to the floor, but she had to admit, it was significantly harder to do so this time.
"Shit." he muttered, and Mikasa rose to her feet.
He sprang back up in a fighting position and scoffed. His eyes were angry, which worried Mikasa.
"Are you going to throw a tantrum like last time? Cause if that's the case I-"
"No! I won't." he stated.
She shrugged and got back into her fighting stance. This continued on for several minutes, she brought him to the ground, several times. But he got back up every time, and simply brushed it off. He wasn't doubting himself at all, even as the time limit drew near.
They prepared themselves once again, and continued on. Eren finally got a grip on Mikasa's arm, and threw her to the ground. He pinned her to the floor as she struggled, and they both mentally counted to three in their heads.
When they got to three, neither of them spoke. They both panted heavily from exhaustion, their faces inches apart. They stared into each others eyes, and Mikasa studied Eren's emerald irises.
Eren's parted lips curved into a smile, as he bathed in his victory. "I did it!" he shouted, reaching his arms to the sky.
"You... did it...." Mikasa panted. She couldnt help but slightly smile as well, it seemed as if Eren's happiness was contagious.
"And you said that I couldn't." Eren pouted, tapping Mikasa's nose with his pointer finger.
"I guess you proved me wrong. Now get off." she ordered.
Eren looked down and realized he was still sitting on top of her, probably crushing her rib cage. He muttered a 'sorry' as he sprang to his feet, lending out his hand to help her up. She accepted the gesture, and pulled herself up.

She giggled at the childish smile that still remained on his face, as if it was pinned into place.
Eren felt his heart skip a beat as he watched her laugh, time seemed to slow down. He noticed how even though her hair was a mess, and her skin glistened in sweat, she looked remarkable. She had a natural sense of beauty, not the type you find on some pretty princess. Her beauty was real, and it went deeper than the surface. And for once her laugh was actually... humble?
