"Idris, what do you say when someone opens the door for you?" Megan asked me.
I sat with my hands in my lap.
"Thank you." I answered.
"Very good." Megan smiled.
These months have been different. My Killer hasn't found me...
But I will find him. I just need to get out of this damn place. So I followed along with their little game.
"Idris, I wanted to tell you... your aunt and uncle has decided to adopt you. Elena and Jax will be your-"
"Sister-r and brother-r?" I raise my eyebrow.
"Yes. You will be leaving in a week. But answer me this: can we trust you?" She said.
"Tr-rust me? Of cour-r-se, Megan. I finally r-rr-rrr-realized my wr-r-rongs. And I will help find that monster-r-r." I lied.
Megan smiled a genuine smile and patted my leg.
I nodded softly in response. Humans... they fall for almost anything if it benefits them.
Leatherface and me will have a ball tearing this place up.
I stood up. The guard placed cuffs around my wrists and sent me to my cell.
---
Once alone I pushed my bed away from the wall and looked at my plan.
Leatherface is supposed to be near here. His brothers are dead as far as I know but I know he's still alive.
I checked the time on the clock embedded in the cement walls.
"R-Rory!" I yelled and peaked my face through the metal barred window on the door.
I saw the black haired guard appear. He's been in charge of me since day one.
"Yes?" He sighed.
"I need to use the ladies' r-roo-room. Be a gentleman?" I raised my eyebrows.
"You don't have a toilet in there?" Rory groaned.
"Do you not even know your-r own pr-r-risoners' cells? I could escape easy." I lied.

"Through toilet pipes? How?" He crossed his arms and leaned his back against the wall.
"Take my clothes off... use that lotion that I am pr-rovided... get all lubed up..." I stuck my arm through the bar and caressed his shoulder.
He chuckled.
"Alright, Idris, let's go." Rory shrugged me off and opened the door.
I stuck my wrists out.
"Cuff me, officer-r." I whispered.
"Certainly." He placed the metal cuffs around my wrists.
My flirting tricks work with most of the guards. However, with Rory, it has not. Me and him had built a pretty good friendship.
"You'r-r-re no fun." I pout and let him walk me to the restrooms.
"Apologies?" Rory chuckled.
---
Once at the restrooms, Rory opened the ladies' door and motioned me inside.
"Take these off?" I questioned before going inside.
"What for? You're not a boy, Idris." He snorted.
"You know... lady stuff." I gave him a hard stare.
"You are a handful." Rory gave me a small shove in the bathroom.
I snorted and looked in the mirror. If this doesn't work then the rest of my plan wouldn't work. I unbuttoned my shirt until it was showing quite a lot and then fake flushed the toilet. I turned the water on and then off and walked out the door.
Rory glanced at my chest with an annoyed look but leads me back to my cell.
"R-R-R-Ror-r-ry...your-r-re so stubbor-r-rn" I mumble.
"Look, Idris, I know your plan. I'm not gonna fall into your traps." Rory says.
"You should." I advise.
"Yeah yeah." He puts me in my cell and locks it.
"Goodnight, dad." I snort.
"Goodnight, Idris." He sighs and chuckles a bit before walking away.
I hear a rustle outside my cell on the other side of the wall.
"Leather-r." I smiled.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
