The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from one-sided love, where the patient throws up and coughs of flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. The infection can be removed through surgery, but the feelings disappear along with the petals. It can be cured without side effects only when the feelings are

returned.

the first time y/n heard about hanahaki, was two years ago. when her friend yerim fell in love with an older boy from her old highschool.

y/n remembers the girl starting to choke on dark purple petals while her eyes were filled with tears. this lasted for three weeks before yerim decided to undergo the surgery, thus making the petals and feelings disappear.

the two girls sat quietly under the warm sky, hands intertwined as they shared a fluffy blanket.

y/n was finally ready to tell sooyoung something she was holding in for, god knows how long.

and so she took a deep breath and looked into the other girl's eyes.

"i have something to tell you, it might come off weird and you might not want to be friends with me anymore"

"y/n? did you murder someone?" joy chuckles, her cheeks flushed

"no, where did you get that idea from? what i was trying to say is, i..am...not, uhm, straight?"

"oh, that's cool. i'm happy you trust me enough to share something like that with me" her smile makes y/n's heart beat faster

"but i have something else to tell you"

"spit it out then" she lightly nudges the girl beside her

"i love y--"

suddenly a warm feeling in her stomach stops y/n from finishing her sentence. her palms reaching her throat as she starts coughing.

the alarmed girl starts helping y/n, asking her what's wrong, this whole situation making sooyoung confused.

then, out of nowhere,

a light pink rose petal glides out of

y/n's mouth.
