she slowly kisses your bruised knuckles as she sighs, asking you why you keep doing this to yourself. when she bandages your wrists and arms you fail to notice her teary eyes as she whimpers an apology.

when you're woken up by another nightmare her hand is already drawing soft nothings into your back and you don't say anything.

if you knew how much she too was hurting, you would have thanked her or even told her how much she means to you. but instead you lie there, paralyzed, until sleep (probably exhaustion) takes over.

yeri asks you yet again if she could spend a night at your house (she's been doing that for a few weeks now) and you happily accept. still, you don't ask about her family life when you really should have. her swollen ankles go unnoticed by you even when she reaches to the top shelf of your cabinet to get some more bandages.

it's the first time she's ever been late to school. you try to not worry but when her empty seat screams that something is wrong, you leave (almost run) from your boring algebra class and make your way to her house.

anything that would have indicated that someone was living in the apartment was gone, an open door and mouldy curtains greet you.

she just... left.

its been a while since she's left but you still smell her perfume on your pillows. you regret not giving her all the love that she truly deserves, not letting her vent out her emotions and ignoring all the warning signs that were plastered all over.

still, you knew that with her kind heart she wouldn't have wanted you to worry, but that doesn't make it any easier.

now its been almost eight months since she left (and your love for her too) and you've realized that her love for you ran out the very day she abandoned you. when she kissed you, her eyes were open (but that wasn't good enough to worry about). the late nights you spend together where she held you close and you wept, those nights annoyed her (maybe even you did too).

and maybe love wasn't always forever. but that's nothing new.
