《Even Badder Girl》s e v e n

Yay. Besties.
It's my first Sunday morning at Granite Bay. I've officially made it through the week! Em says that on sundays it's pretty much tradition for all the students to just lounge around in their pyjamas and hang out all day since there are no lessons. Speaking of Em, she wasn't here when i woke up, and she won't answer her phone.
Anyway, once i wash my face and pull my hair up into a messy knot on the top of my head, i decide to go down for breakfast. Since it's literally half eight in the morning, the hall is practically empty apart from a group of rugby boys that must've had training.
I get pancakes and an apple, take my tray and sit at our usual table. But on my own. I don't mind though. Picking up my cutlery, i begin to cut in to my food. These pancakes look heavenly. I push a bite in to my mouth and close my eyes, savouring the taste.
My moment is abruptly ruined as a second tray slaps down in front of me. I snap my eyes open, only to see Lane. Peaceful breakfast for one, over.
I roll my eyes and swallow whats in my mouth. "Good morning Jewellery." Lane smiles at me as he picks up my apple and takes a large bite. I gasp, unable to believe that anyone would dare take my food.
"Hello Lane three." I retort sarcastically to his name calling and snatch my apple back, putting it down on the tray. What a bitch.
"You look cute." He smirks at me, motioning his eyes down to my shorts.
I'm wearing a black hoodie, with black borg shorts that have little brown bears printed over them, black fluffy socks and my black crocs. Ok miss coordination queen.
"Perv." I huff.
He laughs. "I meant the bears, don't flatter yourself." I shove another pancake bite into my mouth in annoyance.
I politely flip him off and try to turn my attention back to my breakfast.
"Are you still mad at me Carter?" Lane asks. I look up in surprise and meet his eye. He actually looks quite serious.
"Yes." I say bluntly.
"I'm sorry." He returns. I almost choke on my apple juice. Did he actually just... apologise?
"Do you forgive me?" He continues.
"No." I say after a beat, trying to hide my smile by pouting.
"I get it, i'm a dick. You told me not to and i did it anyway. It was a dick move." He runs a hand through his hair.
Wait, he's actually getting flustered. How cute.
"I was just messing with you but i realised how fucked up it is now; i violated your space. That wasn't cool." He rambles before i stop him. It's kinda cute seeing Mr bad guy so sincere. He looks like a kid thats been told off.
I can't hold back anymore and i allow myself to smile.
"Am i forgiven?" Lane asks finally.
"I guess." I roll my eyes, still smiling.

"What are you even doing here Evans? Shouldn't you be off, i don't know, breaking hearts or something." I say through another mouthful.
Lane puts his hand to his chest as if that physically pained him. "Is this what you think of me, Carter?" He wipes a fake tear from beneath his eye as i nod.
"Well if you must know, dear roomie kicked me out this morning so he could hook up with some girl." He explains.
"That's unfortunate." I laugh.
"Wheres your roommate?" He questions.
I shrug. "I don't know. She wasn't there when i woke up this morning."
Lane gives me a look. "What?" I ask. Do i have maple syrup around my mouth? He gives me another look as if i'm the most stupid person he's ever met. Then it clicks.
"No!" I gasp. Lane nods at me and laughs. Em and Ozzy! They're totally still hooking up!
As i reel in the information i've just gathered, the double doors on the right push open, and in walks Emmy- her cheeks rather red- and Ozzy not far behind.
They get served before coming the the table. Ozz sits beside Lane, and Emmy beside me.
"Oh look, the two offenders have come to join us." Lane mocks as i try to hold back my laugh.
Emmy's cheeks are practically crimson now and Ozzy rubs the back of his neck sheepishly. "Welcome guys, how was your morning?" I ask sweetly, resting my chin on my hand.
Ozzy's eyes flicker towards Emmy before reverting back to mine. "Uh-- i was doing homework." He decides.
"And i was in the library." Em pipes in, looking down at her plate.
Lane and I both look at her, eyebrows raised.
"What were you reading Emily? How to: Sex Ed?" Lane chuckles to himself as Emmy makes a face at his nickname for her, throwing a couple grapes in his direction. I say that because none of them actually hit him.
"And actually the library doesn't open until ten anyway so-- Ouch! Why'd you kick me?" Ozzy chimes in, then winces after being kicked under the table by Emmy.
Emmy puts her head in her hands as me and Lane double over in laughter.
Don't get me wrong, he isn't completely forgiven. But this is comical.
After i've caught my breath, i pick up my apple and take a bite. I wipe the juice from the side of my mouth with my thumb and put it in my mouth.
My eyes flicker to Lane who's already looking at me, before he smirks and turns his attention to something else.
I push the feeling of butterflies i just got to the back of my mind as i join back in with the groups conversation. We're now exchanging music to see who has the best taste.
Music.
"Fuck!" I drop my phone and stand up abruptly.
"What? What happened?" Ozzy says, a panicked look in his eyes.
"My fucking music homework." I sigh. It's due on tuesday.
I watch the realisation dawn on Lane's face as he remembers it too.

"Fuck." He groans, closing his eyes and letting his head fall back. Okay, that was unnecessarily hot.
"Come with me, Evans." I call, already halfway towards the door.
Lane jogs over to me and we walk out the left door into the hallway.
He takes my hand and we race down the halls to the music room. I can't stop laughing which is proving it very hard to run, and i begin to develop a stitch.
I pull Evans back to take a quick breather, and as he looks around, i set off again infront of him as fast as my legs will carry me. He laughs as he shouts for me to wait up, but i'm already at the elevator.
As i press the button and wait, he catches up, barely even out of breath.
"How are you so fit?" I ask, still attempting to regain regular breathing.
Lane raises his brows at me.
"Not like that prick, i mean how aren't you out of breath?" I roll my eyes as we step into the elevator.
"Sex. Fighting. Running from police. Sex." He counts on his fingers.
"Ew ok, forget i ever asked." I shake my head as we exit on the second floor.
"But i've ran from cops countless times, and my stamina is still shit." I speak, not really directly to him just outward.
"I didn't peg you for the bad girl type, Carter." He looks down at me, slightly amused.
"That's because you don't know anything about me Laney." I say, giving him a quick smack on the cheek. Before he has time to react, i knock on Mr Jones' door.
I smile at Lane sweetly while he scowls at me just before the door pulls open.
"Ah- hello Jules, Lane. What can i do for you?" Sir asks, his usually happy manner.
"We need instruments Jonesy." Lane says, a hand in his pocket.
Mr Jones rolls his eyes. "So i see you're a last minute type like Mr Evans here, Jules?" He takes his key out the other side of the foor and beccons us to follow him.
I shake my head. "Not usually Sir, i'm just settling in i promise." I rush. Lane scoffs and i flip him off behind Mr Jones' back.
We reach the music room and Sir begins unlocking it. "What instruments would you both like?" He asks as he pushes the door open.
I step in and look around the room in awe. The floor, the walls, every single shelf is covered in instruments. Guitars, bass, drums, pianos, ukuleles, you name it. I close my gaping mouth and walk over to the guitars.
I brush my hand across an electric guitar on the far left of the wall. It's sage green with a cream pick guard. It's beautiful. I look over at Mr Jones and he smiles, nodding yes at me.
I pack up the guitar in its case and put it in its bag, strapping it across my back. I look over at Lane who's sat at a drum set, the sticks in his hand. He runs his fingers over them briefly, away in thought.
"If you wanna pick the drums as your instrument have to practice in the ground floor music room since you can't take the drum in your dorm room." Jones explains, tidying up some of the sheet music on the shelf.
"You'd also have to improvise the beat and partner with someone who could play the chords on a separate instrument." He adds.
Lanes huffs in annoyance. But then he looks at me. I look over at Mr Jones, who is also looking at me.
"Oh God." I sigh. Lane smirks at me.
"Great, ok now that's settled, i'll have someone move this drumset to the the other music room so you two can begin practicing. Good luck!" Mr Jones claps his hands together and walks out of the storage cupboard.
"Is it too late to drop music?" I stroke my chin in thought.
"Haha you're hilarious." Lane makes a face at me before getting up from the set.
He walks over and slings his arm around my shoulder. Why the fuck is his arm so heavy?
"Looks like we're gonna be spending a lot more time together JC." He ruffles my hair, which fell out of the bun while we were running. It's already a mess so i just let him do it.
"Yay. Besties." I say monotonously. In all honestly i don't actually mind, Lane is growing on me. I think we could be great friends.
I mean we got off to a kinda rough start, but i realised after spending a lot of time with him this week, that we're actually pretty alike.
We decided after my shower shenanigan that we would call a truce on our illusive war since he's too lazy to do anything more and i'm too uncreative to think something up.
Ozzy texts Lane, telling us to meet them in the boys' dorm room.
When we arrive, Lane and i both walk in with our hands over our eyes, causing Emmy to launch a pillow at us.
"Sorry, we have to take precautions!" I explain in a matter of fact tone.
"I hate you guys." Em laughs.
We spend pretty much most of the afternoon playing COD on the boys playstation, courtesy of Ozzy, whos here because hes a rich boy rather than a delinquent.
"You guys are ass i-- Ozzy what the fuck you're meant to be on him!" Lane yells, leaning forward closer to the TV.
Emmy is sat at the top of Ozzy's bed trying to finish her rubix cube while i'm sat cross legged on the floor, leaning against Lane's bed and braiding my hair.
Honestly we're communicating very little at this moment in time, but it's nice just being in eachothers company.
I'm lucky to have found such good friends so early into my time here. Maybe coming to this school was much better than juvie; heres to the next year of my life!

He began walking over to me. This is it. I'm dead. I saw his shoes come into my view as I was looking down, hair covering my face. "Look at me." He growled out. I started to cry, too afraid to look.
