《BRUINS 3》19

Mal and Jessie are lying down on the field, stars above of them.
When the forward peacefully reaches for the Canadian's hand, Jessie doesn't even move, because it has all become natural : nobody know about them seeing each other. They're not a couple yet, but there are two reasons they aren't showing others they like each other : 1) because their teammates would always tease them about being the two babies of each teams and 2) because of everything that has been going on recently.
When Mal realizes that Jessie has tears in her eyes, she frowns.
"What's wrong ?"
Jessie looks toward her, teary-eyed.
"I miss Kailen."
Knowing that the keeper was one of Jessie's best friends - that she met on her first day in the University when they both were freshmen, and then went through a lot with her - and losing her was a big shock for the Canadian.
Mal selflessly puts her arm under Jessie's neck, holding her against her breast.
"I know." She whispers, kissing Jessie's forehead. "You'll get through this I swear. It'll take time, and the pain won't entirely go away, but so do the memories. You'll see : she'll live on through you."
Jessie sighs.
"Imagine what Oyster must feel right now..."
"Oh she'll be fine, believe me" Mal tries to reassure her, smirking. "She has very good friends, and is finding a way to enjoy life again."
"You mean : she's got Lindsey now."
The forward frowns because the tone of the middy is quite harsh. She sighs : of course Jessie doesn't like what's going on.
"You know, she brings her joy. Let them be."
"I know, but you can't replace Kailen like that. Not that early." Jessie insists.
Mal shakes her head.
"You know, if I was dead..."
"... Don't say that !" the Canadian exclaims, tensing up.

"... I would want you to be happy."
That makes Jessie stop breathing for a while.
She then looks up and moves a little bit, so that she's leveled up with Mal, who can't help but look down at her lips. Their foreheads are touching, while they are looking into each other's eyes with depth.
"I would too" Jessie whispers.
She then gets a little closer and closes the gap between them. They kiss each other softly, until their mouths are dry.

"Don't be fucking revolutionary right now, we certainly don't need another death on our conscience, okay ? Sit the fuck down"
Sofia sighs, but knows they're right : so she sits down at the table as well.
The restaurant Hope picked for them is pretty cool : it's a vegan thing - so no chance for any girl on the team to show up here, because nobody is vegan on both sides - downtown, pretty far from both campuses. The three girls - the H Team, some may say - are now waiting for a sign, anything coming from the former goalie.
But Moe is not really relaxed.
"What if she asks us to hurt one of our friends ? Or worse...?" the middy nervously asks.
Lindsey shakes her head and makes a sign to indicate her to lower her voice. She then sighs, before saying :
"Don't say that."
"We all know what she's capable of..." Sofia adds, only whispering.
"Not helping" Lindsey lets out, throwing a death glare at her.
But they don't have the time to keep on debating, because a familiar face crosses the restaurant's door.
"What the fuck... ?" Lindsey angrily hisses.
Kassey Kallman, when she spots them, order something at the bar, paying for the four of them, before walking toward the table. She immediately realizes her roommate is very angry, but she makes her a sign to sit back down and be quiet. Maybe she's in the same position than us, the middy thinks to herself in order to calm herself down.

When Kassey sits down, however, Lindsey hisses :
"Please tell me you're here by accident"
Kassey smirks.
"Neither of us is here by accident" she responds, serious.
"So, you're the fourth girl Hope told us about ?" Moe questions.
The blonde only nods.
"You better have a good reason to be allies with that bitch..." Lindsey mutters.
"Linds, stop" Sofia orders, frowning. She then puts her attention back on the midfielder, who looks uncomfortable. "Why are you here ?"
Kassey looks around her, before sighing.
"Look, we're in this together, whether you like it or not" she says, looking at Lindsey a little bit longer than the two other girls, keeping her voice low. "Hope didn't call that meeting : I did."
This time, incomprehension is on everybody's faces, as Kassey nervously looks around her, shaking a little bit.
"I'm not sure I get why, though" Lindsey says.
"Because the three of us are trapped right now, either because that girl has some shit against us, or that she thinks we're too weak. Am I right ?" As the three other girls nod, Kassey is thinking about whether or not she should be talking about the other allies, including Lucy Bronze, but she decides not to. Instead, she only says : "We all care about people on that team, and now is high time to protect them."
"Why are you saying this ?" Sofia asks, raising her eyebrows. "If she's the one that has some shit against us, then it'd be stupid to go against her. We don't have anything to drag her down."
Moe frowns.
"She's right."
Kassey takes a deep breath :
"Actually, there is one thing I discovered while digging into her past : Hope Solo has a daughter who is in UCLA."
Neither Moe, Sofia or Lindsey saw that one coming : the three of them have their mouths wide open, as the waitress bring them their drinks, making fun of their funny faces. Once she is gone, their smiles fade.
Lindsey, who obviously is the only other Bruin here, starts feeling dizzy. So she asks :
"Who ?"
Kassey then starts :
"Her daughter is..."
"KASSEY" someone yell behind them.
Lindsey only has the time to turn around and see Kristie in the entrance of the restaurant, pointing at Kassey, before she turns and spots the red dot on Kassey's chest.
Sniper.
The gunshot makes people scream, while Kassey's chest is drowned in blood. She falls off of her chair, hitting the ground pretty hard, her eyes closed. Kristie rushes to apply pressure on the wound, only thinking : there's too much blood.
The three other girls are also on the ground, under the table, trying to see where the gun is located. But since it hit a window facing an huge building, the shooter had to be on one of the balconies. The ambulance noises are near when Kassey stops breathing.
There's too much blood.
*
Lucy picks up the phone.
"Yes ?"
There is a heavy breathing on the other side of the phone, that makes the Brit frown. She waits for a few seconds, before Hope's husky voice says :
"Kassey Kallman is down."
Lucy's heart skips a few beats : no, not her. Even though the two girls always argued, Kassey made Lucy feel safer. Now, the Brit is on her own.
She doesn't say anything, so Hope asks :
"Bronze, do you hear me ?"
"Y-yes."
"I need you to gain Sam Mewis' trust. I don't care how you do it, but you do it soon."
"But I thought..."
"Do it. Because if you betray me, you'll finish just like Kallman."
Nothing else.
