《My Immortals(A One Direction Fanfiction) COMPLETED》Chapter 23

I was in a cemetery. Fog swirled around my feet and a cool breeze tore at my cloak, it's hands trying to wrench it from my shoulders as I shuddered and pulled it closer to me. Dead leaves crunched under my feet with each step, but their sound didn't mask the sobbing. I was walking towards the noise.
I could see the figure through the fog, they were on their knees, slumped against the tomb stone with their arms covering their face. Their shoulders shook with each sob that escaped their mouth. I felt like I needed to stay hidden from this person.
I crept quietly, staying in the shadows. The figure turned their face up to the sky, the stars obscured by clouds. As I got closer, I could make out the glistening of tears on their cheeks. They brought their hands up and tugged their fingers through their hair. The grave looked pretty fresh, and even though the cemetery was basically all black and white, there were fresh, red roses sat upon the grave as the person stood over them.
The figure opened its mouth and let out a scream of agony as they fell to their knees and grasped the top of the grave stone. They rested their hair against the cool stone as they sobbed even louder.
They slowly looked back up at the sky and screamed out,"Why God? Why her? What did she do to deserve this? She was innocent! I love her! Why did you take her from me?!"
The figure dropped their head back down to the stone and I creeped closer. The person cried continuously and mumbled soft things, as if they were talking to their lost one.
I cautiously stepped out of the shadows and eased my way forward before the leaves crunched under my foot and the figure froze. They slowly raised their head and their beautiful, glistening eyes met mine. They stared at me in disbelief before the figure abruptly stood. They reached out to me and I wanted to run into their arms, but instead, I ran back into the woods, they can't see me here.
"No! Please! Come back! I love you!" They screamed at me as I paused, hiding behind a tree. I didn't hear the person chasing me anymore. I heard them fall to the ground and begin to sob again. I peaked out and saw the person holding their head in their hands as they cried. I quietly crept around them and back to the grave yard. I found the red roses and stopped in front of the grave. As I read the words, I couldn't believe I was reading it right. I reached down to touch the engraving, and right as my finger made contact with it, I woke up.
I felt the tears streaming down my face and Niall's arms pulled me against him as he patted my hair and I felt my emotions ebbing away. He held me and rocked me as I slowly calmed down.
"What happened?" He whispered, but I shook my head and he continued to hug me.
Finally, once I felt better, we both laid back down on the bed as he hugged me to his chest. I glanced over past his body, and saw a red rose, and the dream came rushing back.
The grave had read "Christina Guinevere Smith, 1834-1850." The person who had been laying across her grave mourning was Harry. He had just lost Chris. I quietly cried myself to sleep, because in that dream, Harry thought I was Chris, and I was dressed in old fashioned clothes.

I was woken up by shouting across the hallway. Whose being brutally stabbed! Do I need my knife? Who do I need to bleed on?
I went to jump from the bed, but someone held me there. I thrashed for a minute, but the hold only tightened. I sighed and gave up.
"Whats going on?" I asked Niall, ready to grab my knife and go aid whoever was in trouble.
"Harry and Taylor are fighting."
"What about?"
"That's not our business."
"But everyone else in this house can hear it except me!"
Niall sighed."Last night, Harry almost called Taylor someone else and it's really actually been going downhill from there. Taylor's the one who's doing most of the screaming right now..."
Right as Niall finished his sentence, he flinched.
"What?"
"Taylor just did something incredibly stupid."
"What did she do?"
"She slapped Harry-" We heard a door slam and footsteps run down the hallway. I figured I'd better go talk to Taylor.
I stood up and Niall pointed across the hall. I nodded before I knocked on the door.
"What?" Came Taylor's broken voice. I gently pushed the door open.
"Hey." She looked up at me through her tangled curls as tears streamed down her face. She was sitting on the floor, curled into a ball. "I'm so sorry," I whispered to her. And despite my best instincts, I pulled her into a hug. She sobbed into my shoulder as I rubbed her back.
"Do you want to hear what happened?"
"Only if you feel like telling me."
"Harry almost called me someone else last night..." I nodded. "He almost called me-"
"Chris? Yeah, I know-"
"No. He almost called me you. Then this morning, he woke up crying and mumbled something about you. I started yelling at him and... And... I lost my patience and hit him. That's when he told me we were over and stormed from the r-r-room." She began to wail and I felt so bad for her, knowing the feelings she had. "And the w-w-worst part is, I d-d-don't think he ever actually l-l-loved m-me."
I pulled her even closer and gently stroked her pretty golden locks. "Tay, I'm sure at some point he did love you, but remember, you're just this much closer to finding your knight in shining armor who'll catch you when your prince lets you fall."
A small smile broke across her face and she laughed a little. "Thanks, Gwen. I mean it. Let's go get some breakfast."
We stand up and link arms before we go down to the kitchen. Niall, Louis, and Harry are MIA. The girls flock us and all hug Tay and take turns comforting her. Liam and Zayn are making breakfast and are whispering to each other. I narrow my eyes suspiciously at them as I take a seat at the table. What can I say? I was awoken early and I tried to comfort Tay, and I suck at comforting. I am so socially awkward.
Zayn sat plate of food in front of me and smiled before we all sat down and began to eat. "After breakfast, I'm gonna make arrangements to go back to America, I've already been here too long."
"Then we should go shopping-"
"No, Gwen, I don't think that's the best idea... Remember what happened last time?" I nodded and shuddered at the memory. No thank you, I'd rather not find that surprise again in the bathroom.

"Thanks, everyone." Taylor offered us a smile, which we all returned. But inside, I was breaking. It's all my fault. I just chased Taylor out of the house and destroyed their relationship! How could I? What gave me the right? Oh my God, how does she NOT hate my guts?
I stood from the table, cleaned my dishes, then excused myself from the room. I stripped down and climbed into the shower. I wish I could wash away all of what happened today. I wish I had different blood. I wished the old Gwen was back. But some things just can't happen.
I shut off the water and got dressed in fresh new clothes. I sat down at my desk and began to write. I wrote down my feelings, how I felt about all of this.
"Everywhere I look
Everything I touch
Falls down around me
And it hurts too much
I'm a walking
Natural disaster
And when they see me comin'
They run even faster
I can't even look at something
Without destroying the universe
When you look at me
I'm the worst kind of curse
Watch the relationships
Fall to dust around me
And nobody sees
That I'm the cause of the catastrophe
I'm a walking
Natural disaster
And when they see me comin'
They run even faster
I can't even look at something
Without destroying the universe
When you look at me
I'm the worst kind of curse
Your plans
Go up in flames
The world falls to chaos
And I'm to blame
Everything seems do fragile
When I'm here
And it's my fault
That this happens dear
The world collapses
Around me
And the alarms
Sound in the city
I'm a walking
Natural disaster
And when they see me comin'
They run even faster
I can't even look at something
Without destroying the universe
When you look at me
I'm the worst kind of curse
I'm a walking
Natural disaster."
I closed my notebook and shoved it on the shelf. I sighed and picked up a book. As I read, I could hear movement in the halls and below me. People began to talk in the hallways and I couldn't concentrate.
I decided that I had to go find out more about Chris. If I kept having these dreams with her in it, I better know more.
I quietly left my room and crept to the attic staircase. I walked up it as I silently prayed that Harry wouldn't be in there. I turned the knob to the attic door and it creaked as it swung open.
I was standing alone in the attic, staring at all of Chris's old stuff. It was really beautiful, I loved all of it. I walked over to the drawer and pulled it open. A dress and some jewelry lay inside it. I gently touched the black dress and I began to get dizzy. I slumped down onto my knees and felt my face press against the floor. I lay there as my vision and hearing faded and I was suffocated by darkness.
*****
"Chris? Oh God. Christina! No, no, no!" I was laying on the floor as blood soaked my dress. I pressed my hand against my neck, but it slipped away, covered with blood.
"Harry?" I whispered.
"Oh God! Chris, baby, look at me! I'm right here!"
He rushed over to me as I began to cough and blood poured out of my mouth. He pulled me into his arms and began to cry as I gently reached up to touch his face. I caressed his cheek and he took his hand in mine. His hand felt overly warm, but I didn't mind.
"Chris, I love you. You have to stay with me."It came out in a broken sob.
"Harry. I love you," I whispered before I let my hand go limp. Everything was so hard. Blinking became a herculean task. I wanted to just let my tiredness take over. I just wanted to close my eyes. Harry's tears fell on my cheek as my breathing became more shallow.
"Chris, I'm gonna save you." He whispered, and he pulled my hair to the side. I felt him bite into my veins, but I couldn't find the strength to fight him. As ice spread through my veins, I felt my eyes drift shut.
I took one last breath and muttered out,"I love you, Harry," before I let the darkness crush me. The last thing I heard was Harry crying next to me.
*****
I woke up on the attic floor. What just happened? I could've sworn... What time is it? I looked out the window at the setting sun. That was some weird dream! Gosh nuggets. I slowly got up and left the room. I walked down the stairs and into my room. I sat down on my bed when there was a knock at the door.
"Who is it?"
The door opened and Niall walked in. I gave him a slight smile as he sat down next to me.
"Hey, Gwen."
"Hey."
We sat in awkward silence before Niall turned to me.
"Look... Gwen... I know that you're blaming yourself for this, but it's not your fault! You and Harry just didn't work out... I just... I just wish I were allowed to tamper with the pains of love, but I can't! It kills me seeing you hurt like this!"
"It's okay, Niall. Harry just wasn't the one. I know the one is out there somewhere..."
"Gwen, you deserve someone better!"
"No, actually, you guys are the greatest people I've ever met."
"Really? Gwen, I'm so sorry for all of this."
"Niall, it's fine! It's just, I destroyed my relationship, I killed Harry's and Tay's, I'm even chasing Tay away. I'm just a walking natural disaster. I shouldn't even-"
I was interrupted in my ranting by lips pressing against mine. This kiss was different than Harry's, this one was gentle yet demanding. I kissed him back and the whole world seemed to dissipate. I think I really have found my knight in shining armor.
A/N why does Gwen look so much like Chris? Are they related? Hehe, I already know what the real answer is! Did I provoke any feelings or reactions from you? I'd love to hear your thoughts or opinions. And to all those commenting, I love you people, and at the end of the book, I might put up a page thanking every single user who commented! And I really wish I could tell you the ending! But where's the fun in that? So yeah, I hope you liked it, you know what to do if you did! See ya later!

Rekindle
My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.

It’ll take a society, a group, even a whipped together rag-tag team to jump start the quest for progress. An escape from a motionless home—in order to search for a greater future, Mira approaches her blade in a new light.
