《12:22》twenty

I wake up, my head feeling heavy. I don't know what it was, the lack of sleep or the fact that I was back in my bed somehow.
Once my eyes were open, I heard the bathroom door open to see Ronan, coming out.
He was shirtless and a towel hung low on his hips, his v line being revealed from the top.
Looking at me, his lips part slightly. "Fuck, why are you up this early?" He continues drying his damp hair with the other towel in his hands.
I get up from my bed, looking down at my chest to see that I'm not wearing the dress, I'm only wearing a thin tank top and small shorts and I can't remember what happened at the party.
"Why are you even— wait, no. Did we?"
He smirks, bending down a little to speak to me so his mouth was near my ear. He's holding my right wrist. "All night, baby. You didn't tell me you liked it like that, the noises you were making—" An inaudible gasp leaves my lips so they part slightly.
He drops my wrist and starts laughing hysterically when he sees the blank look on my face.
All of a sudden everything that happened last night comes to my memory, and I realize how much I've embarrassed myself.
"Oh my god, I hate you." I sigh, looking up at him.
He makes his way to the bathroom and I reach for a clip by the nightstand, replaying that everything happened last night.
I got drunk. I made fun of the way he talked. He carried me to bed. He slept next to me.
Viola is supposed to pick me up from the airport right now but I can't seem to find her, my eyes search for her and I recognize her.
She's standing behind the railing where everyone is, waving her hands once we meet eyes.
"Is that your friend?" He questions, I hear the slight smirk and playful tone to his voice without even looking at him.

"Yeah." I nod, making my way to her through the gate, wrapping my arms around her and she hugs me back, pulling away.
We walk close to the exit and I notice that I haven't seen him. I turn my head but I don't see him so I turn back attempting to forget that I even remembered.
"Your boyfriend?" Viola's voice startles me out of my jumble of thoughts.
"Huh? We're not dating."
"Ohhh, so it's like a secret relationship." We walk out of the airport, heading to the parking spot. "You're really not gonna tell me about it either?" She whispers.
"V, there's nothing between us." I chuckle, opening the car door to sit in the passenger seat next to her.
She nods starting the car, sounding unconvinced. "Sure."
I roll my eyes and she asks me if I want to go out to eat with her and everyone else this Saturday, so I agree.
"Are you for real?" August asks Jackson, he nods in response. "She just asked you out like that?"
I'm barely able to contain my laughter as I pick up the tuna roll with the chopsticks between my fingers, putting the whole thing into my mouth.
Jackson confirms his question, "Mhm."
"Well, fuck where's she taking you?" A half smile is on his face.
"We're gonna watch a movie at her house."
August starts laughing.
"Dude, the fuck is so funny?" Jackson sits up.
"The fact that she invited you to her house."
"You're jealous."
"No."
Alisha chimes in, clapping once and pointing at him as if she'd just figured something out. "You so are, that's why you've been asking questions non stop."
She turns to Viola sitting next to her and she nods agreeing with the rest.
"So what's her name?" I change the topic asking Jackson.
"Rowan. She moved to LA recently; a couple months ago. She used to live in New York."

He continues talking about her and asks me to drive him there next Friday night. I agree to it.
The waiter comes over with the bill, handing it to me.
Alisha slides it away from me so it's in front of her, she begins to take out a card.
"Can I at least pay for half?" I ask her and she denies, paying at the counter. Whenever Alisha goes out with someone she insists on paying and will fight them so she's the one who's paying.
We all step out after paying and everyone says their goodbyes, me and Alisha get home and now it's late out.
After I take a shower, I step out drying my hair using the pink towel in my hands.
When I look in the mirror, I notice that around my collarbone I don't see the locket.
Shit.
I go back in the bathroom, looking around in every single drawer and cabinet around. Not even finding a trace of it.
"How was your trip?" Alisha asks me.
"It was good." I give her a small smile in return as I reply.
"You better give me all the details later." She says before heading to her bedroom to sleep.
I don't say anything, smiling in return just thinking about it.
Why the fuck am I smiling?
I'm fucking smiling because I'm thinking about him, what does that even mean.
No, stop.
I don't wanna think about him.
I've looked in all my bags but have yet to find my locket.
My phone buzzes and I pick it up, it's a text from an unsaved number.
Throwing on a hoodie with my shorts, I pull my hair out of it and head to the door. Locking it as I leave the building.
As I look up I notice a tall figure walking towards my building that I was stepping out of and we make eye contact.
To think I was going to avoid thinking about him.
Why is he coming here?
"Hi."
"Hi."
"Why are you here?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest.
It's unnecessarily cold right now why did I come out.
"Why are you up this late?" Rather than answering me he asks another question.
An older man tells us to move so now we're standing by his car.
"So you were gonna go up to my apartment and ruin mine and Alisha's night of sleep."
"No, of course not. I was going to fucking break in silently." He replies, his words laced with sarcasm.
"Very funny." I fake laugh, "What are you doing here?"
He grabs my wrist, pulling me forward so I'm closer to him.
I feel his hands rest on my collarbone while I also feel something colder on my skin, some kind of metal. His hands go behind my neck and he hooks something on from the back. At this point he was keeping me warm.
Looking down, I come to the realization that it's my sister's locket. The one I could not find.
I hold the heart pendant of the locket out, "I was looking for this."
"I know."
"Thank you." I thank him, without thinking I wrap my arms around his upper body while he keeps his around my waist. It lasts for a couple minutes before I pull back, but he still holds onto my waist.
"You left it in my bag." He explains why he had the necklace.
"Sorry."
"Were you going back to the airport to look for it?" He smirks.
"No, why would I do that." I scoff.
He lets out a low chuckle and I feel his phone vibrate, his hands lose contact with my waist and I miss his touch.
"Goodnight, Hernandez." He says, opening his car door.
"Goodnight."
