《A Cheer Captain and a Alpha (Bucky x Willa)》The proposal

Bucky's pov: I wake up from the sound of my alarm clock ringing. I turn it off and almost fall off the bed. I sigh and lay there for a couple seconds. Today's the day. I'm gonna propose to Willa! But, what if she says no? Oh no. That would be embarrassing and heartbreaking. I would probably cry forever. I know we've only dated for about a year. But, who cares? We've known each other and been best friends for a year before we became a couple. I mean, we were technically enemies before we became best friends, for like a couple months. I really hope she says yes. I smile, go to my closet and pick something to wear. I get dressed and go downstairs. "Good morning, I hope you like burnt tost.." my cousin Wynter said as she poured me a cup of coffee and handed it to me. I laugh and smile. "Thanks, cuz" I thanked my cousin.
"No offense, but why are you so happy?" She asks. "Today's the day I'm proposing!" I whispered. "To who?" Wynter joked. We both laughed. "Good luck." She said sipping her coffee and smiling. I smiled back and drank my coffee. My parents are probably at Addison's or something. I asked Wyatt and him and Willa's dad for permission. Yeah, said yes and welcomed me into the family. "Um..I-" Wynter looked down at her shoes. "What's wrong?" I ask worried. "I almost burnt the house down making breakfast..." She replies. I laugh, get up and give her a hug. She hugs back. We talk for a little longer than decide to go to the Seabrook cafe to go eat breakfast cause she almost burnt the house down. Not blaming her, we've been through a lot this past year. We start walking to the cafe and see Lacey and Stacey sitting on a bench. We say hi to them and talk a bit than go to the Seabrook cafe. We go inside and sit at a table, the waiter comes and takes our orders. We have a small conversation and start eating our food. After we finish, we pay and leave. "So, how're you gonna propose?" Wynter asks. "I'm gonna ask her if she wants to have a walk with me at night and propose to her under the moonlight." I answer.

"I like your idea, she'll definitely say yes!" She replied. "Y'all better invite me to your wedding!" A-li shouts. "It would be a shame if Willa didn't call her bestie to her wedding." I replied. "True!" A-li went down to tie her shoes. We have a small conversation and answer a couple questions like she already said yes. I don't even know if there will be a wedding. At least not yet. I didn't ask her yet. I'm praying she says yes though. We went our separate ways. Me and Wynter went back home and put some music on. Wynter gets a call and goes to her room. I lay on the couch and sigh, I text Willa asking if she wanted to go on a walk with me. I think it's time. It's almost night time. She said yes and I told her the time. I ran upstairs and got ready. I exited my room and put the ring in my pocket. "I love you" I whisper under my breath.
I say bye to Wynter and exit the house. I meet up with Willa in front of her house. We start walking and have a small conversation. Just as I'm about to propose. A-li and A-lan are sitting on a bench, and it would be really rude to not chat with them a bit. We go over and talk with them for a little while. In Seabrook it's alright night time at 7pm. A-lan and A-li said bye and exited the forest. They finally left. We walked a little further in the forest than I went on one knee and pulled out the ring. "Willa Lykensen, will you make me the happiest person on this planet, and marry me?" I asked smiling. We had a uncomfortable moment of silence. She smiles and starts crying. Than hugs me tight. "Yes, yes, yes!" Willa shouted crying. I start crying happy tears and hug her tightly. We kiss under the moonlight. "I love you." I said looking into her eyes. "I love you too." She replied smiling. I guess I was meant to get my happy ending.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

Directorate: Nationbuilding in Apocalypse
A nation is just a means of survival. Metro Manila fell within 5 months of the first report of cannibalism. Once a hyperurbanized region of 15 million inhabitants, it's been reduced to a dead, greenless shell. Most of the infected had since left to ravage the countryside. The central government was nowhere to be found. Among the survivors who clung to the few gardens and humble plots of arable land left, one of them finds evidence that the slaughter wasn't going to just end with the first wave. Without a nation and a wall of guns, everyone will die. Directorate is an original nationbuilding webnovel that focuses on the gradual rise to power of a select few individuals, and the subsequent unification of the survivors of a devastated Metro Manila. Releases targeted at every 1 to 3 weeks. If there are no chapter updates after 3 weeks, there will be a progress update. Number of releases targeted at a maximum of 100 chapters.
