《Control [Carlisle Cullen]》0.1

May crept up on Eleanor quickly. The weeks following Carlisle's returned passed quickly, it was as if Eleanor couldn't get a proper grip on time. In less than a month she would be graduating high school.
It had been two months since she realized that the Volturi planned on coming after her. The thought still terrified her - she didn't know what they wanted, nor when they would come. They could catch the Coven off-guard. They could kill them all and take Eleanor with them.
"Hey!" Angela's voice snapped Eleanor out of her thoughts and caused the girl to look up from her food. She smiled softly when she spotted Edward and Bella, "you're just in time! Sit down!"
Edward and Bella sat down beside El, who quietly greeted them. Angela turned to the three, "Mike wanted to write Jess's speech for her. He's about to read it."
Eleanor smirked and glanced over at the boy, "all right Mike. Let's see what you got."
Mike cleared his throat, "My fellow students."
"Cool," Eric commented, while Eleanor made a face. Jessica was never going to read the speech Mike wrote for her.
"Right? We are the future. Anything is possible, if you just believe..." he suddenly smirked, "blah, blah, blah, you've got yourself a speech."
Jess scoffed, "this'll be my speech when I want everyone to throw diplomas at my head. So thank you."
"You have to embrace the cliches, Jess," Mike stretched his arm over her shoulder, "they're the bread and butter of all valedictorians."
"Mike shut up, this is why you're not valedictorian," Eleanor rolled her eyes. She turned to her twin, "you don't need cliches, sister. Your speech is gonna be epic."
Jess smiled at her sister, and nudged her shoulder.
"Epic?" Angela giggled, "it's going to change lives."
Eleanor felt a body slide in next to her, and looked over at Alice, "I've decided to throw a party. After all, how many times are we going to graduate high school?"

Bella, Eleanor and Edward all shared looks. She had seen the graduation caps in the Cullens' house. She didn't understand why they would continue going to school if they were immortal. Carlisle only laughed at her when she voiced her thoughts.
"A party? At your house? I've never seen your house before," Jessica gasped, and Eleanor shot her a look. Her sister was getting way too excited over nothing.
"No one's ever seen their house," Eric retorted.
"Another party Alice?" Bella asked, narrowing her eyes.
"It'll be fun," she insisted.
"That's what you said about the last one," Edward mumbled. Eleanor's eyes darted down to the table as she remembered what happened at Bella's birthday party.
"Hey Angela," Bella suddenly said. Eleanor frowned and looked up at Alice. Her eyes widened when she noticed the girl was having a vision, and entered her head as quickly as possible.
Eleanor's eyes moved across Alice's face, and she furrowed her brows as she watched Alice's mind. She could see a redhead - Victoria - racing around Alice's mind. She seemed to be chasing something, or someone, and El wondered if she was chasing Bella. The vision ended soon, and Eleanor looked towards Edward.
They hadn't heard of Victoria since the Cullens' returned to Forks. Was she finally coming back for Bella?
Eleanor missed her friends in La Push. She hadn't seen any of them since Carlisle came back, and they had all been bugging her about coming to see them. So, since Carlisle was at work, she decided to drive down to the reservation.
She could tell none of the boys were there, but figured Emily was, so she let herself into the house anyway. Eleanor walked towards the kitchen, and smiled when she saw Emily hunched over a mixing bowl. She knocked on the kitchen door, and Emily spun around.
A happy smile appeared on Emily's face. She out the bowl on the counter and embraced Eleanor in a hug, "how have you been, El?"

"Fantastic," Eleanor said honestly, "what about you? How are things around here?"
"Crazy, but what's new?" They laughed, "we have two new pack members. Harry Clearwater's kids - Seth and Leah. They shifted pretty soon after his death."
Eleanor felt terrible for the two of them. She couldn't imagine loosing a family member and then having to deal with being a wolf soon after.
"Wait," she said, frowning, "didn't you say Sam dated a girl named Leah before you?"
Emily sighed, "yeah. Leah's my cousin. Her and Sam were engaged when he imprinted on me. He hates himself for hurting Leah. It creates a lot of tension around here."
Eleanor frowned, "what is imprinting?"
"Oh, it's basically a soulmate. I mean it doesn't necessarily have to be romantic. You be whatever they need - a lover, a friend, a protector. It's like gravity is being replaced by the person they've imprinted on. That's what Sam said anyway," she explained, with a dreamy look in her eyes.
Eleanor smiled at her friend, "that sounds intense. Do you know when the boys will be here?"
Emily opened her mouth just when they heard the front door open. Eleanor could already hear all the noise the boys were making, and bit her lip to suppress a grin.
Embry was the first to see her, "Eleanor?"
Paul pushed past Embry when he heard her name, with Jared and Quil following close behind, "El!"
The girl laughed as she got pulled into a hug from the wolf pack. They pulled back quickly, all with looks of disgust on their faces, "you stink."
She rolled her eyes, "thanks, Paul. Where's Jake?" Her eyes then landed on Quil, "when did you turn?"
"With Seth," Embry had a piece of toast in his hand, "he should be here soon. That means you can probably meet the newbies today." He turned his attention to Embry, "he turned about a month ago."
She noticed Sam wasn't there either, but chose not to bring it up. Maybe it was because Leah would be coming over to the house, and he didn't want to be there with Emily and Leah.
Eleanor took a seat at the small table, and grabbed a banana from a bowl. She unpeeled it and took a bite when she heard the door open again. She watched as Jacob walked in with a boy following close behind.
He didn't look very old, maybe fourteen or fifteen. His hair was cropped like the rest of the pack, and Eleanor could see the top of the tattoo peeking out from his t-shirt. She already liked him by the look of his kind smile.
Jacob did a double-take before he grinned and pulled Eleanor into a hug, "I missed you, El."
"I missed you too, Jake. Now introduce me to the new wolf."
She noticed the boy - Seth - blushed, and she smiled, "this is Seth Clearwater, Harry's son. This is Eleanor Stanley, Seth, Carlisle's mate."
"Nice to meet you," he smiled.
"You too, Seth."
"Where's Bella?" Jacob looked around the room. Eleanor could feel the mood deflate and wondered why they seemed so down when he mentioned Bella.
"No idea," she confessed, "probably at the Cullens'."
"Your vampire lets you come over here?" Paul chuckled with his mouth full of some kind of food.
She glared at him, "is there a reason why he shouldn't?"
He just raised his eyebrows. Eleanor didn't stay for much longer, claiming she had to go home and do some stuff for school. She was glad she got to spend time with something other than vampires for once.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
