《My Vampire (Book Three)》Chapter 19

When I open my eyes I slightly panic when I see the blinds are open and the sun has gone down but when I look my bedside clock I see that it's only 6 o'clock and there's still time to bring Ada to see my mother. Ada.
I look to her side of the bed and see she's not there and I sit up immediately.
"Ada?" I call out and to my relief she comes out of the bathroom looking confused.
"What is it?" She asks and I shake my head and lay back down.
"I thought you were gone." I sigh and throw my arm over my eyes but lift it up when I feel her small body climb on top of mine with a smirk on her face.
"Why would I ever leave?" She bites her lip and straddles my waist and rubs against me teasingly.
"You wouldn't." I say and sit up to give her a kiss when I notice something coming from her nose, I rub the dark spot with my thumb but when I look at it I see that its red and I look at her concerned although she doesn't look the least bit worried.
"It happens when I haven't eaten." She shrugs and I frown.
"Eat then." I say and I offer her my wrist but she looks away displeased.
"What I don't taste good anymore? You had no problem eating from me when we were trapped together." I try making a joke but immediately regret it when a sad look grows in her eyes.
"It won't fill me up and I would have hurt you for nothing." She says keeping her head down. I place my fingers under her chin and make her look up at me but I frown even more when I notice another stream of blood going down her nose.
"Please nothing will go wrong please." I say and give her my hand again. She hesitates but as another drop of blood comes out of her nose she grabs my hand gently and I try my best not to wince when she sinks her teeth into my vein. She's barely eaten for a few seconds when she pulls back immediately and covers her mouth almost like she wants to throw up. At an inhuman speed that even I couldn't keep up with she's in the bathroom again and I hear her throwing up and I run immediately and to my horror I see she's throwing up blood.
"It's not the same. You're my mate it doesn't feel right." She groans and wipes her mouth.
"Hold on I'll get Gabriel." I say rubbing her back and link him immediately without even waiting for her response.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't be this much trouble." She groans in pain and I kiss the back of her head.
"You're no trouble at all I promise." And to my surprise I hear Gabriel enter the bathroom casually but his face looks angry when he looks down at our situation.

"She can't drink my blood." I say and he says nothing but kneels down and offers Ada his wrist, she doesn't hesitate and immediately latches on for a good two minutes. She hisses when he pulls his arm back but doesn't say anything. He nods his head at me to talk outside the bathroom and I follow after him.
"That won't last her all night. She needs human blood otherwise you'll just be starving her." He scolds me and I do nothing but glare at him since I know he's right.
"I can't follow her around while she just kills people. And she can't be out at night anyways that asshole could still be out there." I almost yell but keep my voice down, Gabriel says nothing but looks at the bathroom door and then at me.
"You're taking her out tonight right to meet your mom?" He says and I nod my head.
"I'll take care of it then just keep her comfortable and away from any blood. I'll get her enough to last the week." He says and I'm a little offended at his offer, I should be the one taking care of her but he does know more about vampires than I ever will and I have to trust him.
"Thank you." I say and he nods his head and leaves. When I go back to the bathroom Ada looks slightly better leaning against the bathtub and gives me a small smile when I walk in.
"Remember when you helped me take a bath? I couldn't even stand up." She laughs as if it's some fond memory to look back on despite the fact we were both kidnapped.
"I remember being extremely rough with the mate I didn't even know about." I kiss her gently and she smiles wider.
"When were you going to tell me I was going to meet your mother?" She says and I sigh running a hand through my hair and shrug.
"Does she know about me? About what I've done?" She says and I nod my head. She gets up immediately and takes a few steps away from me before turning back.
"Then I want to meet her." She says and I smile.
I can't remember the last time I was in a home that was this warm. I had a family once, maybe our home was like this.
Isaac's mothers sits across from me and tries her best to keep a small smile on her face as she taps her foot nervously. Isaac clears his throat to ease some of the silence in the room and his mother finally says something.
"I noticed your accent. Are you from England or?" She politely asks.
"No I lived near Salem in the 1600s. I don't really remember much." I say and rub my arm nervously.
"Oh well. That's unfortunate. But I'm sure in your life time you must have become well traveled." She says and I nod my head.

"You know I never thought vampires existed. My mother always used to warn me they'd come for me if I misbehaved." She laughs nervously and there's an awkward silence in the warm. That burning feeling is returning to my throat and I'd feel it would be better to keep talking than to focus on my hunger coming back.
"There really isn't a lot of us left. Not that I know of." I say and she nods her head.
"Is anybody hungry...or thirsty I think I'll...I'll make some tea." She stutters and leaves the room immediately.
"She hates me." I whisper to Isaac and he chuckles and grabs my hand.
"She's just as nervous as you are." He says and I hear her clattering around in the kitchen.
"Go talk to her. In private." He says and I cringe internally as I imagine the scenario of her yelling at me for killing her sons. I take Isaac's advice and find her scent to lead me into the kitchen. She's leaning by the sink and when I clear my throat she slightly jumps at the sound.
"Oh my dear you hardly make a sound." She laughs nervously again and starts wandering around the kitchen mindlessly digging through drawers.
"Your son saved my life. He's very brave." I say and she stops moving and smiles sweetly at me.
"I'm not going to stay like this. The one who did this to me. He can undo it and I can be normal. Your son can have a normal mate." She nods her head again, she's not saying what she wants to and if I have to force it out of her then I will.
"I wish I didn't kill your sons. I'm sorry I did. I didn't know about you or Isaac but I'll make it better I'll do anything." She takes a deep breath and walks over to me. I'm a little surprised when she puts her hands on my shoulders.
"You're my son's mate. And I forgive you for everything." She says and I almost feel like tearing up when she pulls me towards her for a hug.
"Ada!" Isaac exclaims when as he runs into the room.
"We have to go I'm sorry mom the whole pack is on lock please don't leave to go outside at all." Her eyes widen and he kisses her cheek before grabbing my arm and pulling me with him, I give her a small wave goodbye but continue to run with Isaac.
"What's wrong?" I ask feeling a little scared as I follow beside him when he starts running.
"Desiderius killed four wolves on the north side of the pack. Mark wants to see you and Gabriel." Isaac says and moves slightly closer to me as he stares around the distance of the pack. He could be watching us right now.
Thankfully we reach Mark's house without any trouble and I see Gabriel leaning outside the porch calmly.
"What are you doing out here? Desi could be anywhere." I hiss at him and he rolls his eyes and stands up straighter.
"Don't call him that. I was waiting on you two." He says and we follow him inside. To my surprise I see Crystal's young boys running around as she tries to calm them down. She manages to grab one but the other knocks into my shin and lifts his arms as if he wants me to pick him up, instead I take a step back and look at Crystal awkwardly. She smiles and grabs his hand.
"Mark is waiting for you two upstairs and he's not happy." She says and Gabriel rolls his eyes. I nod my head at her and start grabbing Isaac's arm when Crystal clears her throat.
"He said he only wanted to speak to you two alone." She says and thats when I feel nervous what could he have to say to me that he couldn't say in front of Isaac? Gabriel and I head upstairs quietly and I follow him to Mark's office and find him sitting in there calmly looking at papers on his desk, he finally looks up when we close the door behind us. He sighs and runs a hand through his hair frustrated before looking between us.
"Care to explain why four of my members are missing?" He ask and Gabriel and I look at each other confused.
"Isaac said they were killed." I say and he shakes his head.
"Their bodies weren't found when we followed the scent of their blood it disappeared." He says and an uneasy feeling comes over me as I imagine Desiderius turning those poor souls into hybrids like Gabriel.
"Why are you only telling us this?" Gabriel asks.
"Because you're the only two that can find them, if word gets out about this them the pack will know what she is and I can't have her stay here, she'll pose a threat." He says and I growl quietly.
"If you send us out there you're sentencing us to die." I say angrily and Mark growls loudly at me, I assume it's his Alpha tone but it has no affect on me.
"If you want to be apart of this pack then you will do exactly what I say." He growls.

Shaman
*** Let's get this clear now: the MC is a trans woman. This is not a gender-bender. It's set in a fantasy world but the exploration of identity and gender is reality-based. Not a joke, not a kinky turn-on. If this is a problem for you, please just act like an adult and look elsewhere for something to read. *** Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 2 x 5*, 1 x 4.5*, 1 x 3*, no reasons offered. A human shaman and healer returns from several years with the mysterious shyani, accompanied by her shapeshifting puma best friend. A valued friend, from her previous identity as a male student physician, has acquired an old shyani book, and extremists will not tolerate its presence in human hands. But back in human lands, the question arises: which world does she belong in? Generations ago, human explorers found a continent inhabited by an utterly alien culture of shapeshifting weyres and the shyani, humanoids who prefer dusk and dawn. A truce of sorts was eventually reached: humans claimed the rich lowlands, and the shyani and weyres retain the highlands. Along the border, practicality often rules, but on either side, old grudges linger in some hearts. As a student physician, Corin tried to take his own life, unable to bear the countless tiny wounds inflicted over twenty-one years of lying to himself in order to be, or pretend to be, socially acceptable. At the last improbable instant, intervention came, in the form of a spirit fox, who led him away from the existence he’d known in the lowlands and into the highlands. There, a puma weyre rescued him, and a shyani shaman helped him find his true self and offered a rebirth, a life with no more lies, and an important role to fill. Now a shaman and healer in her own right, Vixen who was once Corin learns that the one human who mattered to her in her previous life, then a fellow University student, has come into possession of an old shyani book, and the more fanatical shyani and weyres will stop at nothing to reclaim it and punish Jared. Even though it means going back into the lowlands and facing Jared as a woman, she can’t bear to just look the other way. This should be a short visit, just long enough to see the book into the proper hands and make sure Jared will not be killed for having it, and then she can return to the shyani community that has accepted her as their shaman. And, of course, her feline best friend Dayr insists on coming with her. But Jared is now a Lord, with considerable wealth and power, and his response to her presence isn’t one she expected. After years living with the shyani, she sees everything around her from a new perspective, and that makes it difficult to keep to the plan of making as few waves as possible. As an honoured guest in a highborn house, with only Jared aware that she has ever been anyone else, Vixen finds herself questioning where she belongs: with Dayr and the shyani, who accept her gender without question but have to make allowances for her differences, or with humans, in the culture she grew up in even though her past would mean a major scandal? *** Trigger warning: there are scenes of Vixen's previous life, which include some difficult moments and culminate in an (obviously unsuccessful) attempt at suicide before she finds her true self and a better life. Please be careful! This is the ONLY reason for the "Traumatising Content" tag.*** Complete stand-alone novel, 96K words. Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.

A Portal Fantasy Comedy Poem
Mix an adolescent shepherd boy in love with a girl who wants to meet existentialists, a Viscount in need of an adventure, and a bland psychic. Add in a flippant god. Put them in a land made up of the after-lives of various different cultures. Stir gently. Sprinkle in some random Midgard Serpent, Genghis Khan, Scheherazade, and a cussing mocking bird. Fry lightly. Season to taste and serve with desired garnishes. Bon apetit! A comic fantasy poetic epic, filled with misfits, slapstick routines, light romance, people shouting out the names of their battle skills before using them, old philosopher dudes running around naked, a very serious lamb, demonic knitting, battery operated magic swords and even more traumatising stuff! I experimented with different styles in the beginning and finally settled on an ABABBCBC rhyme scheme (Give me your 0.5s. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I'm collecting them, seriously)
