"You don't have any idea how much trouble you've caused me." Odin's voice rang in your ears as you laid on the ground, clutching your stomach in pain.
You knew that he was coming for you, but you hadn't expected him to just teleport in front of you and struck you with his gold sabers.
He stood over you, aiming the tip of his swords toward your Advent Belt. "How did you find out it was me? Yui couldn't have..." Odin's sentence trailed off, seeming to be in deep thought.
You coughed. "You're a fucking coward! Of course I knew it'd be your dumbass that started this shit! Can't you understand that Yui wanted to make the Mirror World a happy place that would not cause any more suffering?! All you're doing is making things much worse!" You grit your teeth in pain as Shiro pressed his heel against your chest with inhuman strength.
"Shut up! I did this in order to prevent her death! I can't lose my precious little sister!" Before Shiro could pierce you with his sabers, you quickly drew an Advent Card and inserted it into your visor, sliding the head back into its original place.
Odin shot his head up to the sky and prepared himself for your Contract Beast. Although Odin was the strongest Kamen Rider out of everyone, including yourself, he was still no match against the mechanical dragon alone. Dragreder grabbed hold of the Phoenix Rider with his fangs, dragging him over to several buildings.
"No..!" Shiro wheezed as his head collided with steel, glass, and stone. As Dragreder continued to do as he pleased with Odin, you took this time to catch your breath.
"Please... [Y/N]..."
Underneath your armor, your eyes widened at the familiar voice. It can't be... "Y-Yui..? I thought you were-" She immediately cuts you off and pleads.
"Please save my brother..! I don't want any more of this... We only created the Mirror World as a safe place for us to be protected by the monsters we drew. Yet... The deaths that we've seen —both innocent people and Kamen Riders— I no longer want this world to exist!"
"Yui... What you're saying is: you want me to vent your brother. Correct?" You said through the mask. At first she hadn't responded, hesitating to answer but reluctantly agreed.
"Yes... As much as I hate for that to happen, my older brother won't stop until you put an end to his games."
A loud, doleful cry uttered by Dragreder captured your attention, making you look up into the clear sky. There he was, flying towards your direction with Odin in-between his sharp set of canines.
You sighed, your hand made its way to the belt buckle, slowly pulling out the card needed to end this bloody war. "I understand, Yui..." As Dragreder released Odin from his jaw, you slid the card into the slot of your gauntlet.
"Argh!" Shiro crashed to the ground in agony. A huge concentration of sediments and stone cracks under him, and a few of its mineral particles begin to stain and blacken his golden covering. He stares up at you and whispers in desperation. "No... I can't... die now..."
You could only stare back at him. Despite him being the evil mastermind behind the Rider War, he didn't deserve any of this. None of you wanted this reality, but the world was unforgiving and cruel.
You slid the visor back, now activating the final card.
Dragreder roared past you and Odin, then circled back. You left the doubt behind and jumped into the air, performing a series of somersaults before aiming your right foot at the injured Phoenix Rider, readying a flying side kick. The dragon behind you blew sheets of red and orange flames at the dorsal side of your body, propelling you towards Shiro.

"This is for not only Shinji, Ren, and Yui, but also for the people that you involved and manipulated!" You cried out. With all of his might, Shiro picked himself back up and swiftly drew a card from his buckle. But, it was far too late for him to do anything.
You drove your foot against his belt, shattering it and his deck into pieces. "No... No..! NO!" Dragreder's flames transferred from you to his arms and slowly up to his neck. His phoenix armor came apart, bursting into golden shards. Shiro was no longer Odin.
"Yui..." The male collapsed onto the terra firma, laying on his back and staring up at the blue sky. His eyes that were once dull had now brimmed large tears. You ran over to him and kneeled down on one knee.
You no longer needed Dragreder, and the red sheathing faded along with your Contract Beast. You stuffed your Advent Deck back into your pocket and gently held Shiro's blackened hand.
He tried to speak and began coughing up his blood-stained fluid. "I'm so... sorry... This was the only way... to save my sister... I knew I had the advantage over you all because of my Time Vent, but..." He faced you. You could feel and hear his heart beating a different rhythm than yours. "All I knew was that... I needed to fight in order to save my sister from her death..."
"I know... I know, Shiro..." You said softly, rubbing your thumb against his bruised knuckles. "No one deserved any of this and that includes you, Ouja, and many others that I had to face as enemies. We all hoped to stay alive for one stupid wish."
Shiro chuckled, intertwining his fingers with yours. "I dragged everyone to this war... Granting them the powers of a beast and manipulating them into killing mankind... Yet, if it were to prevent Yui's death then I'll honestly do it all over again..."
You frowned but said nothing. For a few minutes, you sat there with the dying rider, basking in the sunlight. No words were exchanged during the passing time until you saw Shiro, slowly but surely, dissolving into white and grey particles.
"Shiro?! S-Shit! You can't!" You grasped his hands, tears welled over your eyes at sight of his dying figure. He closes his eyes and smiles. "You're the last rider... You've won the Kamen Rider War and for that, you're granted with a wish of your choice... Congratulations, [Y/N]..."
"Shiro! Stay with me! Shi-" A loud crack interrupts you. Shiro, the brother of Yui Kanzaki and the 13th Rider, had crumbled in your hands. The wind howled about his death, whereas the sun blazed upon you.
"This can't be it... right? Someone please tell me that I'm having a bad dream..." You dropped to your knees. Glaring down at the earth, you noticed a bronze deck in front of you. It was Odin's deck... But you destroyed the thing! Why was it still intact? You didn't know, but you didn't bother to care either.
You bit the inside of your mouth, drawing the slightest bit of blood. "Why..? Why did it have to end this, huh!? Why couldn't we just live happily as humans?! Fucking hell... You ruined our lives! My friends and enemies are dead! You even dragged innocent people into this! What more did you want?! You fucking beasts! Killers!" You screamed, gripping onto Odin's Advent Deck.
The voice belonged to Dragreder. You took the deck out of your pocket, holding both ornaments of the dragon and phoenix. You growled at your Contract Beast. "I didn't have any choice! You and other people were coming after my life! I wasn't going to just sit there and let you do that! Not without putting up a fight!"

You had withdrawn into sullen silence, letting Dragreder's message register into your head. You shook your head and let out a disheartening laugh. "What I do know is that all hopes of peace and justice had faded away in this war. And, now I'll have to carry the sickening memories of having to fight against my former comrades and killing my former foes because of some goddamn wish."
You set Odin's deck down and dug into your other pockets for your Advent Deck with Dragblacker. Studying the dark exterior of the cover, you continued your conversation with Dragreder.
"By living life golden, you probably meant having all the power and authority over both monsters and humans, am I right?" You asked him. Dragreder wasn't physically in front nor next to you, but he was able to communicate with you through the Advent Deck.
You scoffed. "Then you're wrong about that. Humans, and even monsters, want to live the best life they can possibly have now, unbothered to wait another day to do so. But, there are some of us that are waiting on something such as graduation, finding love, getting dream jobs, and so on. I'm one of those people that are waiting and letting the pieces fall where they may be..."
"I don't know the full meaning of destiny, but what I do know is that we shouldn't rush our lives. Monsters may live longer than humans, but the same thing happens to everybody — not everyone lives, but everyone and everything dies."
Dragreder would've made some cutting rejoinder but none came to his mind. It was almost as if he was actually considering your words for the very first time. Dragreder and Dragblacker are both stubborn dragons... But then again, you were pretty sure every Contract Beast is like that towards their human users.
"At first I didn't have one. But when I became a Kamen Rider and witnessed several people dying and being massacred, I now understand what needs to be done." The red mechanical dragon hadn't responded, but you didn't need him to. "I wish my enemies and comrades get some normality back into their lives. I don't want them involved with Kamen Riders nor the Mirror World. That is all."
"I told you already. That is my one and only wish. I want nothing else." And with that, sunlight completely obscured your vision and you felt yourself being inundated with the generous outpouring of heat.
Oh you heard him, but were you going to let him know? Probably so, although it's going to cost your head since Dragreder and Dragblacker aren't very expressive with their feelings. But, oh well...
A sudden knock at the door causes an older female to spring up from her seat. She glances up at the clock that's above the cash register, the time reading 9:50 AM. It was ten minutes away from the opening hour, but she'd suppose it wouldn't hurt to open early.
"Coming!" The coffee shop owner unlocked and opened the door for her first customer. "Good morning, ma'am. I was wondering if I could have a cup of coffee or tea? Either is fine with me."
Her brown eyes widened at the sight of a familiar person. The female in front of her possesses [E/C] eyes and [H/C]-colored hair that passes her shoulders. She wore a black jacket trench coat that reached down to her knees and underneath the coat, she had on a solid white crop top and high-waisted black denim shorts along with white sneakers.
The unnecessary familiarity of this person made her feel uncertain but her intuition tells her that she can trust this girl. Trusting that her intuition is never wrong, the older woman motions the young girl to come in.
"Ah, yes! Please do come in, miss! It sure is cold outside, so I'll be sure to bring you a fine cup of coffee or black tea if you'd like." The jovial mood of the owner made the female teenager smile. "I'll just take an iced coffee, ma'am."
She nodded and strode across the room to make the drink. The girl walked inside and settled in front of the bar, her eyes scanning the space all around her.
Though one picture caught her eye, it was of two children —one boy and one girl— both seemed to be siblings. As the owner returns with her order, the younger female points to the picture, asking, "Are they perhaps your nephews, ma'am?"
The older woman eyed at the hanging portrait and nodded. "Yes, dear. Those two are my wonderful nephews. The boy's name is Shiro Kanzaki, and the girl is Yui Kanzaki. They're both siblings and are currently living with me," The elder barista praised with a faint smile. "I love them so much... And, I don't want to lose either of them, but you see... Yui isn't feeling too well."
Why was she telling this to a random person? The owner didn't know, but she was rather comfortable with the girl's presence. It's almost as if they've met before, but she couldn't recall the past.
"What's wrong with Yui?" The young girl questioned, taking a sip of her iced coffee. Her voice and the way she pronounced her nephew's name, it was frustratingly familiar! The aunt cursed herself and the capacity of her short-term memory.
"She... Yui is ill... I'm not sure what type of illness it is, but I want to get her treated as soon as possible. Her brother is always out working, desperately trying to earn money so that he can pay for his sister's treatment. I'm also doing the best that I can, but lately the coffee shop hasn't been busy... If we don't get her treated soon... I'm afraid that she'll..." The aunt trails off, clearly not wanting to state the truth.
Behind the customer's neutral expression, the coffee shop owner could see it in her eyes. The feelings of depression and loneliness. She could tell that the younger was attempting to control her emotions. Was she Yui's friend? If so, she would've known or seen this person but no...
The older woman had to try and resolve this uncertainty that's stirring within her. "What is your name, dear? You seem very familiar. Have we met before?" The girl turned her head and smiled. "My name is [Y/N] [L/N], and I don't believe we've met before. What's yours if I may ask?"
"Sanako Kanzaki..." She whispered, but you were able to catch her name. You began to dig into your pockets, fetching your wallet to pay for your drink and something else. "Here." You said, holding out a bill of 5,000 yen for your drink and a red envelope.
Sanako's eyes dilated with shock and surprise. She looked up at you, asking through body language if it was okay to take the large bill and envelope. You giggled and bobbed your head up and down. "Keep the change."
The Japanese woman hesitated as she took both items, and immediately expressed her gratitude for your service. You waved your hand, shaking your head. "I should be the one thanking you. Not only are you an amazing barista, but you really do care and love your nephews. People like you deserve something special."
"What exactly is inside of the letter..?" Sanako asked, but you weren't able to answer her question as it was time for you to depart your homeland. "I do apologize, Ms. Kanzaki. But, I'll have to take my leave now. Got a flight to catch!"
"Wait, but where-" You grabbed your cold beverage and dashed out the door, but not before yelling something out that brought the aunt to tears. "Inside the envelope is my gift to you and Yui! I hope you'll like it!"
Sanako pried the letter open and gasped at the load of light green bills. There was a note in-between the bills, reading:
This is my gift to you both, Sanako and Yui Kanzaki. I would like for you to use this money to pay for Yui's treatment. Thank you for everything, and stay safe!
–Sincerely, [Y/N] [L/N]
"Auntie! Where are you? Have you seen- Oh, there you are! Is that a letter? Whose it from?" Yui happily skipped towards her aunt. Sanako turned her head towards her nephew and brought her into a bear hug.

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Meanwhile, have some Slice of Life.) Updates every Friday Cover made using Waifulabs Written using 4thewords (referral code: UZJRY55368)

There is a difference between both.]..............................................................................TO NOTE FROM AUTHOR- READ THE TAGS BELOW AND ABOVE!!! This novel is not for everyone. It is aimed at a select few audiences who likes the romance genre and small amounts of actions. So don't read it if you are expecting anything else. You either suck it up or drop it! Also, I am not looking for readers who want to change my novel or my MC. Outlook: The Stars (Consciousness Unbound Book 1)
The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a desperate last-ditch attempt to gain a future more lustrous than toiling the rest of his days away in abhorrent conditions in one of the near sweat-shop level factories that dot the megapolis, Rune signs up for the Virtual Citizen program, a program to cull the excessive world population by transferring just their brains into a video game. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
