《Destined》Heat?

My eyelids felt heavy but I refused to close them. I had been continually trying to mindlink my pack, but it wasn't working. It felt like I was just banging my head against a giant brick wall.
I found myself in the arms of the man, as he began to walk away from my pack. I whimpered slightly not liking the feeling of being so helpless.
The girl with the red hair looked over her shoulder with guilt heavy in her eyes. She cradled her cheek in her hand before looking at the man.
"Adam she is still awake." She said barely loud enough for me to hear.
The man, Adam, chuckled and looked down at me quickly.
"I gave her enough wolfsbane to take down a male Alpha." He says impressed.
"Maybe this is a bad idea. Maybe we should leave her and -" Adam cut her off with a deep growl that had her whimpering.
"You know what Alpha wants. You aren't going against Alpha, are you?" He asked in a sickly sweet voice.
"N-No. O-Of C-course n-not." She stumbled before looking at the ground shamefully.
"That's a good girl." he replied like he was talking to a dog and my heart tightened in my chest.
I thought she was just saying she was sorry, but is it possible that she doesn't want to be apart of this at all?
I need to shift. I need to fight for my freedom. My body trembles as I reach out to shift.
My shift is slow and more painful than claws extend and I cut into Adams arms.
"Bitch!" Adam yells, dropping me tot he hard ground.
He holds his arm close to his body as his eyes get darker. His growl has the red hair girl whimpering of fear.

He reaches in his pocket and takes out another syringe. My clothes are just beginning to tear when I feel a sharp pinch in my neck.
My knees collapse under me and all my progress with shifting was for nothing. I tried to move, to stand up, but nothing responded. With every blink, it got harder and harder to open my eyes again. Darkness was creeping around me and I couldn't fight it anymore.
*
I groaned as I stretched out on the bed.
Bed?
I shot up in a panic, taking in my surroundings. The last thing I remember was being in the woods with a strange man and him injecting me with something.
Rose? I tried but got no response.
I take a few deep breaths, willing my heart to slow down before I have a panic attack. I try to stand from the bed but I am pulled back. A chain is tied around my ankle attaching me to the bed.
I can feel the fear creeping up my spine, but I can't let it get to me. I need to be strong. I pull as hard as I can on the chain, but it won't budge.
"I thought I heard movement up here." The deep voice sent a chill down my spine and goosebumps to my skin.
I turn slowly to face the man standing in the doorway. Dark hair frames his face. Blue eyes, colder than ice stare back at me. His tall frame leans against the door frame as if he has not a care in the world.
"How are you feeling, Love?" My eyebrows knit together as I stare at him in disgust and confusion.
"Who are you?" My voice is a little raspy and I realize that I am dying of thirst.

The man smiles a creepy smile before grabbing a bottle from behind him. He closes the door behind him as he walks closer to hand me the water. I stare at it suspiciously, getting more nervous by the minute.
"I'm Harley. Your mate, well soon I will be your mate." He winks at me and my face drops in horror.
I could feel Rose stirring a little in my mind. She obviously didn't like the sound of that either. Before I could think of a response, a dull pain spread through my entire body. It didn't really hurt, it was more uncomfortable and I felt myself wiggling the best I could to the edge of the bed.
"What's wrong, Love?" He asks in a sickly sweet voice. I deserve a medal for not gagging at that.
"I'm uncomfortable." His eyes glaze over me and I realize that someone changed my clothes.
"Did you change me?"
"Sadly, no. Jaclyn, my omega, did." the pain came back and I winced a little as I tried to figure out what that pain was.
Harley kneeled down in front of me and stared at me. I wiggled again to try and get comfortable and to break his gaze, but something flashed in his eyes before a loud growl echoed through the room.
His hand reached up and moved my shirt to the side, ripping the collar in the process. The feel of his fingers on my neck had bile rising in my throat as he traced the chain of the necklace. His eyes darkened at the sight of Reed's mark on my neck and he shot up and away like I had burned him.
"Fuck!" He screeched before his palm became acquainted with my cheek.
My head snapped to the side from the force and I didn't dare turn back to face him. His breathing was rapid as he began pacing the room, muttering incoherently to himself. He stopped and looked at me. His cold eyes calculating as another small wave of pain hit me. Maybe I am just stiff and need to stretch?
"You are marked but haven't mated yet, have you?" his voice held a tone of amusement as he watched me carefully.
I didn't answer. I don't know what he is playing at or what he thinks but I am not going to make this easy for him.
A sick smile spreads across his face as his disgusting hands cup my cheeks gently. His ice eyes stare into mine and no matter how hard I try to look away, his hands force me to look at him.
"That sneaky bitch of a Goddess. It's your heat." He shoves my face away roughly before running his hand through his dark hair.
I stare at his feet, not wanting to make anymore eye contact than needed. Heat? It can't be heat. I have seen heat and it is painful and only the touch of your mate can calm the pain.
"I'm not in heat, Jackass! I am uncomfortable from being chained to a fucking bed." I shout.
Harley looks at me amused for a second before laughing hysterically.
"I didn't say you were in heat. I said it's your heat. You're uncomfortable because you feel the pain of whichever one of those mangy mutts marked you. The Goddess must have transferred the heat to him, removing the temptation from me." He said like it was the funniest joke in the world.
"Now, you slut, who marked you?"

Release schedule: Thursday and Sunday at 12:00am CST. The world of Uneira is a desolate wasteland full of horrors and danger behind every rock, every bush, and every scraggly tree. It's my approach with a System like story without the system or other front-end applications of one. It's going to start as a bit of a slowburn coming of age, but that's really only for the first book. **There are three POV characters: Theodran, Modran, and Alanna.
