《May We Meet Again: Book 3》I'll Dream of You In Death

"Now the key to this is breathing. Deep breath in and deep breath out." He fixes my stance so i'm even "Now just focus on what you want to shoot at, deep breath in. Then when you want to fire deep breath out and release." I loosen my grip right as he says release sending the arrow flying into a tree. He lets of a small laugh "Good that was good...if you were aiming for the tree that is." I turn to roll my eyes at him "which I wasn't." he just laughs again taking the bow from me. "I know princess."
"Don't call me that."
"Calm down princess you'll get it eventually." He gives his ever so annoying smirk then aims the arrow up into the tree ahead of us. "You're obnoxious." I move to sit on a fallen tree. I hear him take a deep breath in then out "Maybe, but you secretly love it." the sound of him releasing the arrow fills the air. Theres a small distinct thud confirming that he hit what he wanted to.
He turns to me and grinning making me roll my eyes once more "I thought we were supposed to be teaching me all this stuff." His smile turns back into a serious line "Uh yeah right I forgot how terrible you were." I take the bow and an arrow from him and move into the stance he taught me. "Alright lets try this again." He moves to fix my stance putting a hand on my shoulder. "Where did you learn how to do this?" His hand slides to the middle of my back as he moves next to me. "I always liked the workings of a bow and arrow. I first made one out of some shrapnel and elastic that I found on the ark. It was kinda the only thing that came natural to me." I don't know if he actually means to be this close, but I surprisingly don't mind it. I don't respond to what he just told me and instead break my stance to fully look at him. His hand is still on the middle of my back although I don't think he realizes it.

I open my mouth to say something when the blaring sound of a horn hushes me. We both look towards the sound then back at each other uttering out the same word "acid fog." We're both quick to move as we grab our packs "there's a cave down here." Bellamy says grabbing my arm pulling me with him. I look back quickly seeing the start of the fog linger above the trees. Bellamy lets go of my arm so we can both run faster as he leads us down a hill. "In here." He stands off to the side making sure that I get in first then follows close behind. I moved to the back of the cave letting my pack fall against the wall. Bellamy does the same then slides down to the floor across the room. I press my back against the cold rock letting it cool off my body. "Hungry?" I look to Bellamy who's holding up a bag of dried meat. "Uh sure." I don't even know why I said yes since I have my own pack of food in my bag. I put my hands out expecting him to toss the bag to me, but instead he gets up and hands it to me himself.
"Thanks. Were you going to have any?"
"I'll eat whatever you don't finish."He doesn't move back to his spot before and instead just stands there looking down on me. I look down at my own pack mostly to hide my cheeks that are starting to redden. "Water?" My voice cracks slightly making me let out a cough to cover it up. It doesn't help my cause as he just smirks "sure." I clear my throat once more moving away from him. I hear his back hit the cave wall as he lets out a sigh. I grab my canteen from my bag handing it to him. "Thanks." He takes a quick swig the moves to sit resting the back of his head against the wall. "We're probably going to be here a while. I don't know about you but i'm going to get some sleep." I pull out a piece of dried meat and start chewing on the end. Bellamy strips off his jacket and rolls it up making a small pillow. "Night Princess." I throw the bag of meat at him in response making him laugh. I just roll my eyes moving to my own side of the cave.

I don't sleep that much anymore. How can I when we need to constantly be on high alert. I turn onto my side facing the wall listening to the violent winds outside. I hope everyone back at camp is alright. They know what the horn means. I obviously have faith in Finn to get everyone inside. I close my eyes letting out a breath then feel myself starting to drift off into sleep.

The sound or rapid breathing and soft whimpering fills the cave waking me. I grab my knife from my boot out of sheer instinct frantically scanning my surroundings. I look to Bellamy who's still asleep. I'm about to wake him and warn him of a possible threat when I notice that his chest is moving faster than it should. I put the knife down moving over to him. Even in the dark I can see that he's sweating like crazy. I feel his face to check for a fever but it feels normal. He must be having a nightmare. I lean close enough to whisper in his ear. "Bellamy. Bellamy." His whimpers continue as I try again. "Bellamy."
"Bellamy. Bellamy wake up." I start shaking his arm urging him to wake. His breathing hasn't slowed but his whimpers have stopped. "Clarke?" his voice comes out soft and somewhat scared. He's still curled up on his side so I can't tell if he's fully awake or not. "It's okay. It's just a dream." I rub his arm waiting for his harsh breathing to subside. "Clarke." He turns over slowly still breathing somewhat heavily. I move my hand from his arm to his hair brushing away strands from his face. "It's okay Bellamy." He doesn't meet my gaze and instead turns to look down at the ground. "Clarke. Could you...possibly...just lay here for a while." He still doesn't meet my gaze probably from embarrassment. I move my hand away from his hair and slide down onto my side facing him. I leave enough space between us so that we're not too close but we're still close.
" Clarke." his eyes meet mine when he speaks this time. "Please don't go anywhere."
I'm not 100% sure what he means when he says this but I know an answer from me will put him at ease."I'm not going anywhere. I promise." He gives me a small smile then starts drifting off again. I can't help but think that his nightmare was partially about me. I think that it's better that I never ask, he'd never admit to it anyway.
