《A Twist to Our Futures (Killua X OCs X Gon)》Greed Island - Chapter 14

The eight of us stood in the court while the rest of Tsezguerra's team stood outside. Razor stood at the other side with his team. We were about to get down to the dodgeball game.
"Here are the rules. The game starts with seven players on the court and one out. The first team with no players in court loses. Any player who gets hit with the ball is out and must go outside. However, you may bring one player inside the court again by saying 'Back.' And if the ball lands outside the court where there aren't any players, the opposing team gets the ball." Razor explained.
I continued listening as he explained more of the rules.
"Now, the important stuff. We'll use the cushion rule, when ricochets are live until they land. For example, if I throw the ball and it hits opposing player A, ricochets, and hits opposing player B before hitting the floor, both A and B are out. But if player B in that scenario is able to catch the ball, player A is safe. Exactly. But if I throw the ball and it hits opposing player A, ricochets, and hits my own teammate, player C, before hitting the floor, only player C is out, not A. Then if player C catches the ball, does that mean player A is out? That's right."
I noticed Gon's ears emitting smoke from hearing that much information. That boy would never learn easily...
"Any questions?" Razor spoke.
"If an outside player hits someone with the ball, are they out?" Killua asked.
"Naturally, they're out. Now that you mention it, only one player can return to the court using Back." He passed the ball to a creature with the number 0.
"I am number 0, the ref. It's nice to meet you." It introduced itself. "We will now begin the match."
Goreinu stepped outside the court so that we could start with seven players inside. The referee held the ball in between Killua and a creature with the number 6.
"Ready...Go!" It threw the ball in the air, and Killua jumped up.
"You can have the first shot." Razor said.
The boy passed the ball to me, and I caught it. I looked at Razor, who just stood there smiling to himself.
"Give it all you got. I won't hold back." He hummed.
I threw the ball at one of his teammates, number 4, eliminating it. Goreinu got the ball and threw it back to me.
"This will be easy." I smirked before throwing the ball again, this time hitting number 5.
"That's two down!" One of the men outside the court shouted.
"Way to go, Lynn!" Killua stepped up to me and we both gave each other a high-five.
Goreinu passed the ball to me again. I heard Razor snickering, clearly amused about something.
"Well, well. This is about to get good." He remarked.
I focused all of my aura in the ball and threw it with everything I got at Razor. He extended one arm out and caught it, much to my disbelief.
"What?" I exclaimed.
"He caught it with only one hand!" Goreinu sure sounds shocked.
"It's time to launch the counterattack." Razor smirked and focused his aura in the ball before throwing it very hard.
Oh shit!
I covered my face with both of my arms and focused some of my aura in them and the rest in my legs. To be specific, 75 percent in my arms and the other 25 in my legs. As soon as the ball hit them, it ricocheted and then hit number 3. My arms began hurting badly, but the pain was not too severe.
"Are you alright?" Killua asked, feeling concerned about me.
"Yeah. My arms felt very sore, that's all." I replied. "At least number 3 is out."
Razor picked up the ball next to him and smirked again.
"The ball landed inside Razor's side of the court, so it is their ball." The referee stated, and I mentally facepalmed.
"Nice rebound. Now, let's move on!" Razor covered the ball in purple aura and passed it to one of his teammates outside the court. The Nen creature then passed it to another Nen creature outside the court, and then another one, and they kept passing it to each other very quickly. I couldn't keep my eyes on the ball as they were passing it around.
Then I realized it was heading straight for Tsezguerra.
"Tsezguerra!" Gon yelled.
"Look out!" I shouted.
"Behind you!" Killua pointed at the ball behind him.
Tsezguerra realized and focused his aura in his back, right before the ball collided with it. He groaned in pain and fell down.
"He focused his aura in his back and avoided a lethal blow." Razor stated. "Alright, patch him up."
He focused less of his aura in his back than I did in my arms. If I had done that, my arms would have been severely injured.
"Any player who is unable to continue playing is disqualified. They won't be able to play in or out of the court, so keep that in mind." The referee stated.
Killua bounced the ball up and down, ready to serve. One player on our team was out and injured already, and I had eliminated three players on Razor's team.
"Hisoka." Gon spoke up.
"Okay, hand it over." The magician motioned for Killua to give him the ball.
Oh, right! Hisoka can use Bungee Gum to retrieve the ball after every hit!
He gave Hisoka the ball, and the redhead parted his lips in an eerie grin.
"Let's have some fun, shall we?" He said, his tone sounding smooth, but uncanny. "Surely this isn't everything you got."
Razor chuckled. "Very well."
"Yes! That's three down!" One of Tsezguerra's teammates cheered.
"With Back, they still have five players left!" Another one replied.
With Bungee Gum, we can stay on the offensive and take down all of Razor's teammates so that he'll be the only one left.
"Question for the ref. What happens if the last player is hit and uses Back at the second they're hit?" Killua asked.
"That's not allowed. For a moment, there would be no players in the court, so that team would lose. But, if someone outside of the court uses Back at the same time the last player gets hit, that would be considered perfectly acceptable." The referee explained.
"Okay. Hisoka?" Killua turned to the magician.
"I see where this is going. We leave him for last."
Hisoka stretched his Bungee Gum, swinging the ball back and forth like a pendulum. Then, he threw it with much force straight.
"Wow! That's nice and strong!" Bisky remarked.
"If we're lucky, we can take out 6 and 7 at the same time!" Killua replied.
But when the ball was about to hit them, they combined into one large creature with the number 13. It caught the ball with its hands, slowing down its momentum.
Hisoka tried to pull the ball back, but it wouldn't budge.
"What...was that?" I muttered.
"You're strong." Hisoka remarked as he stopped using his Bungee Gum.

"Hey! Is that even allowed?" Killua screamed, pointing at the large Nen creature.
"It is." The referee replied.
"If you're allowed to combine, are you allowed to split, too?"
"Yes, as long as you don't surpass the maximum amount of players on the court." It stated.
"Alright! It's my turn to attack again." The large creature gave the ball to Razor.
"Okay, now we just have to retake the ball..." Gon started.
"...if we're going to stop him!" Killua finished.
"Ken!" They both covered themselves in aura, impressing Razor.
"Ah." The man uttered, mesmerized by their breathtaking aura. "So you boys know how to use Ken, huh? That means you won't die. Assuming if you aren't hit in the wrong spot."
I didn't think they could be able to catch it. Razor would just go all out and incapacitate them, or possibly kill them.
"Here I come, Gon!" He charged up his attack, focusing every ounce of his aura in the ball.
The spiky-haired boy clenched his fists, fueling with confidence. "Bring it!"
Razor took a step back and drew his arm back. Using his full strength, he threw the ball very hard, and it was heading for Gon fast. I mentally panicked, knowing that there was nothing I could do to stop it.
He stopped using Ken like the reckless little fellow he was. What the hell? That idiot would get himself killed!
"Ko!" He yelled, raising his arms to cover his forehead and using said technique. The ball crashed into him, and he tried to decrease the momentum. He was getting pushed back, and then he was sent flying. His boots were left behind as they slipped off his feet. We all turned around to see him crashing into the wall, and we heard him groan in pain.
"Gon!" Killua screamed, and Lizzy, Bisky, and I rushed to him, feeling very worried about the boy.
"Are you okay?" Bisky asked.
"I'm fine, guys! Really!" Gon sat up, blood trickling down his face from his forehead.
"Yeah, right! What the hell was that?" I growled in his face.
"I used Ko to harden my arms and head, but my legs just couldn't brace hard enough. But next time, I'll catch it for sure!"
"Gon..." Lizzy softly muttered.
"Estimating the ball's drop point..." The referee looked up at the ceiling to find the impact that had been left by the ball.
"The game will continue. Team Gon has possession. And since the ceiling is an extension of the floor, Gon is out." It stated.
"I'm going to use Back." The boy asserted as he stood up.
"No, you're not! You knew what happened back there, and you're not doing it again!" I snapped.
"She's right. You can't be serious!" Bisky replied.
"I don't care. I'm doing it." He said, being as stubborn as ever.
"Let him be. He won't listen to us." Killua grumbled, knowing that Gon wouldn't change his mind after coming up with something.
Bisky moved next to him. "Fine. However, don't use Back until we're down to two players inside the court. Got it?" She demanded.
All of us, except Gon, moved back inside the court to continue playing.
"Now, let's start." The referee announced.
"Hey Gon, get patched up." Killua said as he passed the ball to Goreinu, who was outside the court. Goreinu then passed it back to Killua.
"It isn't against the rules to keep passing the ball like this, is it?" Killua asked the referee.
"No, it's okay." It replied, and he passed it to Goreinu again.
"All right. I'm better now." Gon insisted as Tsezguerra's men finished treating his head.
Goreinu moved back further from the court, holding the ball in his hands.
"Hey!" Killua called out to him, but he didn't turn back until he reached the wall.
"I'm the type who tends to hold a grudge. It's time for payback, Razor!" He glared at the man, who only looked at him with his signature grin.
Goreinu dashed forward and drew his arm back, preparing his attack.
"Take this!" He aimed the ball at Razor and threw it with much force. However, it wasn't fast enough to hit Razor in time as the large creature caught the ball in its hands.
He gasped. "What the hell?"
The creature threw the ball back at him. The poor dark-haired man didn't have the time to react as he was hit in the head with the ball. He fell down, earning many gasps from most of us.
"Oh my God!" I covered my mouth with one hand in shock.
"Goreinu!" Killua yelled.
"Try to be more careful when doing something that is reckless like what you did." Razor advised him, even though he was down.
"Hold on! What was that?" Bisky questioned his move.
"There's no rule against passing the ball to an opponent." He stated, and she grunted in displeasure.
"And you're allowed to hit people in the face here. That means his attack was also legal. Had the ball touched the floor, I'd be out by now." He turned to the knocked-out man.
"Is he dead?" Lizzy asked with plenty of concern.
Razor looked at her, grinning gently. "I don't think so. But it's unlikely that he will regain consciousness before the match is over."
"If the interior players are reduced to zero before Goreinu wakes up, the match will be over." The referee stated.
This is bad. Razor and his teammates are strong, and the five of us are clearly at a disadvantage in terms of power. What can we do to catch him off guard?
"Alright, then..." The purple-haired man spoke, and we tensed up.
"Tell me..." He ran forward and slid on the floor. "Who'll be next?"
He threw the ball nice and strong, and it was heading straight for Killua.
"Killua, look out!" I warned him, and the silver-haired boy dodged just in time. But then, the ball made a sharp turn, and it was now heading for Bisky, Hisoka, and I.
Bisky dodged the ball by stepping back, and Hisoka leaned backwards at the last minute. Miraculously, I ducked down just in time to avoid getting hit. One of Razor's teammates outside the court caught the ball and attempted to hit me with it.
"Lynn!" Killua desperately called my name.
"Watch out!" Lizzy cried.
I looked up and gasped, then I braced myself for the impact.
However, I stopped using my aura when I saw Hisoka blocking the attack in front of me.
"Bungee Gum!" He grabbed ahold of the ball while using his ability, and he skidded backwards. Once he had stopped, he licked some blood off his lips in an uncanny manner.
That was so close! I was left with no choice but to block it and be ready for the consequences. But...Hisoka just blocked it for me. If he hadn't done that, I would be a goner by now!
"Biscuit is out! Step outside the court!" The referee ordered her.
"Huh?" I turned to the blonde in confusion.
"But she dodged it, right?" Lizzy questioned the referee's decision.
"I'm out." She coldly stated.
"What?" I widened my eyes, completely baffled.
"So this means clothing counts as part of your body, right?"
I saw that a part of her dress had been burned off from the friction of the ball. No wonder why she was out.
"Yes." The referee replied.
She walked away from us and out of the court, leaving me, Lizzy, Killua, and Hisoka inside. Razor bounced the ball while giving us his signature smile.
"So, only four of you remain, huh? Well, let's see if you can have this!" He threw the ball again, and to my horror, it was heading straight for Lizzy.
But it looked like she had something in mind, and it was going to be both risky and stupid. She closed her eyes and attempted to use her first ability on the ball that was speeding toward her.
"Idiot! What the hell are you doing?!" Killua snapped.
"You'll die! Get out of the way!" Tsezguerra shouted.
"Dodge it, Lizzy!" I tried to persuade her, but it was too late. She opened her eyes to realize that her ability wasn't working the way she expected it to be. The ball collided with her head, thus sending her flying and crashing into the wall. Everyone except Hisoka gasped.
"Lizzy, no!" I screamed and rushed towards her, as well as Killua, Gon, and Bisky. Two of Tsezguerra's men also came to her, looking worried.
"Lizzy? Are you alright?! Lizzy!" I shook her, but she didn't open her eyes.
The man with dark skin wearing a bandana grabbed her wrist and checked her pulse. Our eyes were filled with lots of worry for her.
"No good. She's knocked out cold, just like Goreinu." He confirmed.
"Who knows how long she will stay like this?" The man with short, spiky silver hair replied.
"No, Lizzy..." Gon mumbled.
"Lizzy is out!" The referee announced.
"Patch her up, please." Razor ordered the men.
I noticed Gon's expression change from a troubled one to an angry one.
"That's it." He grumbled and turned away from the unconscious Lizzy.
"Back!" He called out.
"Gon has used Back. You may move back in court." The referee told him.
"What are you, crazy? There's three players inside the court, and I told you to use it when we're down to two players!" Bisky protested.
"I don't care! Lizzy doesn't deserve to lose like this, and I will make sure I will win this match for her! I will win it for her and for our team!" He declared confidently, looking at her with burning eyes.
The blonde was taken aback by his outburst and had no choice but to abide by his decision. She sighed. "Fine. But listen to me carefully. Do not overdo it."
"Yeah." He bluntly replied and started walking towards the court. Killua and I followed him, me getting lost in thought by what Gon said.
"What's one plus one?" She asked.
"Yeah." He replied again.
"It's hopeless." She hung her head downwards and then looked up at him again. "Okay. Beat him, even if it kills you!"
"Osu."
"You okay?" Killua asked.
"Yeah." The boy replied in a monotone voice.
"I found out something interesting." Hisoka said.
"What is it?" I put my hands on my hips and focused my attention on the magician.
"If the ball travels outside the court, it becomes much less powerful. I only broke two fingers without Ko." He gaped at his injured fingers, not showing any signs of pain.
"Then if we avoid Razor's attacks, we will avoid any significant damage." Killua stated.
I heard the cracking of bones next to me, and I cringed as Hisoka tried to fix his fingers.
"Exactly so." He replied.
"But what kind of victory is that?" Gon spoke up, and we focused our attention on him.
"Don't be stupid. If we can't win no matter what we do, all of this is pointless! You better calm down, idiot!" The silver-haired boy grumbled and pointed a finger at him.
"Aren't you mad?"
"Huh?!"
"If you'd dodged left, you could've been killed. Right?" He mentioned something Killua was thinking about, and the silver-haired boy gasped.
"And he knocked out Lizzy, too."
This time, I was the one to gasp at the fact. I could tell what he was feeling from the looks of it.
"I'm really pissed off right now. I won't settle for some cheap win! What he did to Lizzy...I will completely crush him for that!"
Hisoka smiled to himself from hearing his infuriated tone. Then he passed the ball to Killua.
"You must have a plan in mind." He said.
"Yeah. I got this. Killua, stand over there." Gon pointed at the middle of the court, telling him to go there. He then turned to me. "Lynn. You and Hisoka stay there."
I didn't know what he was trying to do, but I nodded nonetheless. Killua stepped to the middle of the court as Gon told him to.
"Bend your knees, and hold the ball tightly." The spiky-haired boy instructd him.
"Umm, sure." He did as told and held the ball in front of him.
Then I realized what they were doing when Gon started to charge up his ability. I didn't know if I should doubt that would ever work.
"Now, show me Rock!" He chanted, his aura spiking up. I widened my eyes in both shock and awe.
"Jan! Ken!" His aura grew more powerful by each word chanted out loud.
Come on. This better work.
"Rock!" He punched the ball with everything he had and aimed it at Razor.
"Whoa!" I exclaimed.
The large creature got in front of Razor and caught the flaming ball. It got pushed back by the force and momentum of the ball and got launched out of the court. Most of us, including Razor, were taken aback by the technique. It seemed like none of them knew how strong-willed the boy was.
"Number 13 is out! Catching the ball while your body is touching outside the court is illegal! Team Gon has possession!" The referee announced.
"Yeah!" Tsezguerra's men cheered.
"Did you see that? He sent the biggest one flying!" The man with silver hair shouted out.
"Damn it! That wasn't good enough!" He cursed himself for his lack of effort.
"Why does he look unhappy?" A man with short, curly brown hair asked.
