《I'm not supposed to love you》Chapter 2

A.N. I'm going to do the next part in California's POV. Let me know if I made any mistakes.
"Texas are you there?" the government asks, snapping his fingers in front of the states face.
"What do you want?" Texas growls. The state had been zoned out staring at a random tree out the window. Looking around he realizes they are in a meeting right now, probably discussing something important.
"That's the third time you've zoned out this week." Tennessee says. "You doing alright?"
"Mind your own business." Texas snaps. Ever since he found out who his soulmate is he has been out of it. His mind constantly wandering through flower fields, bible verses and soulmate marks.
He turns to gov. "What do you want?"
"I want to know how you are implementing the new covid plan." The government replies.
Texas takes a deep breath. "I am not going to violate the constitution by making people wear masks!"
Out of the corner of his eye he sees California roll his eyes. The sight causes Texas to hesitate slightly, but after seeing Alabama smiling, he snaps out of it and continues on his rant until he gets interrupted and the meeting moves on.
Afterwards lunch is served. Home made macaroni and cheese by Utah with the help of a surprisingly sober Colorado. Sadly, Texas gets stuck beside Florida and Louisiana as they hash out a plan for ruining some pour states day.
"We could move the books around on his shelf so he can't find anything." Florida smiles at his own idea but Louisiana shakes his head.
"We should hide his favorites in the governments room, give California another reason to be mad at him."
Florida giggles. "Perfect."
"Or you could leave Cali alone and bother Oklahoma." Texas says.
Florida smiles wider causing Texas to frown. "Standing up for him?"
"I just want to torcher Oklahoma." Texas says, quickly defending himself.
"That is a little odd for you sha." Louisiana says. "Don't you hate California?"
"Fine you can prank him." Texas growls. "But I still think it would be better if you pranked Oklahoma."

"Alright then." Louisiana says. He motions for Florida to follow him and the two sneak out to cause mischief.
Texas sighs. Why did he defend the nation state? He hates the guy. Right?
As he heads to his room to finish some paperwork, he bumps into California himself, literally. "Sorry."
"It was my fault." The other state stammers. A blush creeping up his neck. Texas just shrugs and continues down the hall.
He sits down at his desk and puts his head in his hands. With a sigh he looks up, grabs a pen and gets to work reading over paperwork to start putting in place the new Covid plan so the government wont bother him about it anymore.
He can't seem to focus though. His mind keeps traveling back to California. Back to thoughts he tries to keep himself away from; how cute California looks when he is defending his point in a meeting, or when he is curled up reading in the living room never looking up but still having whole conversations. He shuts them down quickly, but they keep popping up.
"Ughh." He thinks of how much he actually liked Hidalgo. How could that feeling be wrong? Somehow, he still doesn't understand, even though he has been defending the point for hundreds of years.
He takes a deep breath and looks at the page again, but he finds himself reading the same sentence over and over again. He sighs again and puts the pen down. Focusing is not going to happen right now so he pulls out his computer and opens Netflix. Umbrella Academy it is.
He is about halfway through his first episode today when there is a knock on the door. "Come in." Texas says, shutting his Laptop.
The door opens and Florida walks in. "We decided to prank Oklahoma for you."
Texas is officially paying attention now. "What did you do?"
Florida smiles. "We stole his football Jersey and hid it in the government's office." He says with a giggle.
"Nice one." Texas replies. "You better tell me what happens."
Florida giggles again before his smile drops. "Are you doing ok?" He comes over and sits beside Texas on the bed.

"Why do you ask?"
Florida gestures to the laptop. "You're sitting around watching Netflix instead of getting work done or hanging out on the ranch.
Texas shrugs his shoulders, but Florida doesn't seem convinced. Not seeing another way out Texas sighs before opening up. "I like him."
Florida genuinely smiles. "Are you going to tell him?"
"Its against the bible." Texas mumbles.
"That was a mistranslation that was made a bigger deal than it is." Florida clarifies.
Texas looks at the other state in confusion. You can never tell if something he says is reliable. "Where did you hear that?"
"Washington was reading an article on it from MSNBC the other day." Florida responds. "It was actually kind of interesting."
"Fake news." Texas says. Florida gives him a look and he sighs. Maybe not so fake news. "What should I do about it?"
"Tell him." Texas looks at the other state like he is nuts.
"The guy hates me." He says simply.
"Have you ever talked to him?" Florida asks.
"Every time I say something he argues with me." Texas states.
Florida shrugs. "And he walks away stammering and blushing every time like a teenager with a crush."
Texas turns to Florida with a confused look. Florida simply shrugs. "I'm going to go hang out with Louie. He still wants to prank California." Texas looks at him, a bit concerned. "Don't worry we won't go too hard on him."
Texas groans as his alarm goes off. Blindly, he reaches for his phone to turn the offending noise off. He squints at the bright light coming from the device. He turns the alarm off and sees a text from the government. Meeting at 12:30. With another groan he puts his phone back on the nightstand and closes his eyes again. A few more minutes.
He wakes up a few hours later to someone knocking lightly on the door. "Texas. Lunch."
He tumbles out of bed. "Be there in a minute."
With a sigh he pulls clothes on and makes his way out to the kitchen to see Utah and California making sandwiches. Georgia is sitting in front of them nursing a cup of coffee and Florida and Louisiana are walking over to the meeting room.
He brushes pat California to make his own coffee then sits down next to Georgia. "Did you get any of the work done for the new plan?" He asks the other southern state. The two talk for a few minutes about the plan and how neither of them have gone back into lockdown.
"Come on you two." California says rushing them into the meeting room.
Utah puts the sandwiches down and everyone sits down around the table. "Raise your hand if you put any steps of the new plan in place so far." No southern state raises their hand.
"Why not?" DC asks turning to that part of the table.
"I was busy with my new voting law."
"I can't read."
"I'm not stopping this fais do do."
"Its against the constitution."
"What about you Texas?" asks California.
"I couldn't focus." Florida sends him a knowing smile and he glares in response. "I'll get it done by tomorrow."
DC looks to the entire south. "I don't care what your excuse is, this better get done by the next meeting."
After the meeting Texas heads to his room to try and get work done again but he is cut off by California. "Why can't you guys take this seriously?"
"I'm working on it." Texas replies, trying to get past California.
"Do you even care about your people?"
He stops and looks carefully at his soulmate. "Everything I do is for them." He almost whispers. "If you don't see that then maybe you don't care about your people." He brushes past California into his room, slamming the door behind him.
A.N. Right now I am posting once every two days but I am starting to work on another book called Canadian Provinces Visit the Statehouse and I just got my wisdom teeth pulled so don't expect me to keep that up.

About the Author This is my first novel or any attempt to write something so I'm pretty much a newbie trying to pen down the fantasies rolling in my mind. English isn't my First language so brace yourself for some grammatic potholes. But I'm genuinely working on improving my English but it won't be happening overnight as it's a process, I guess. (for the time being, I'm trying to make it readable with some Grammar checking software) Moreover, I wish to improve my writing skills as the story grows and readers help in spotting mistakes or critics might turn it into a reality.
