《The Red Sun》Chapter 14

"So, Alexander I presume?" Cassin stood away, standing right in front of whatever machine he had as if he was almost protecting it. I glared at him and nodded. "So, I have a question for you" He smiled at me almost as if he was trying to pass off as innocent, yet there was nothing about him that wasn't evil. "Why did you plan on coming in here? What could you possibly hope to accomplish? Well, besides getting captured and helping me complete my plan." He then picked up his hand and Talia and I flew up into the air, a blue light enveloping both of us.
I tried shooting a bolt of ice, but it just wouldn't go through the blue light! "By the way, your magic is no match for mine because I'm backed up by the Midnight stone. Seriously, if you had just come in the day you might have had a shot at rescuing your poor helpless little mother." He let each of his last words lingered on his tongue before something unexpected happened.
Amy then shot a fire straight toward Cassin's legs, making him swell in pain and drop both of us.
"Oh, you really shouldn't have done that!" He then yelled and grabbed a stone, and started flinging it straight toward Amy. The next sequence happened in slow motion as I say the rock getting closer and closer to Amy so I did the only thing I could think of. I ran straight in front of the rock, ready to get hit. Yet, instead, something compelled me to draw my sword and with all the magical ability I had and it froze and shattered as the sword broke it into nothing but splinters.
I stood there, try to catch my breath, but there was no more time before Cassin's men started trying to swarm me. Yet, I wasn't the only one fighting. I saw Talia and her mother step into vision as well as hundreds of other monsters that were being held captive in the underground. I held the point of my sword out, challenging them to come on. I ran into the oncoming wave of troops, sending out magical blasts knocking down anyone willing to stand in my way. I cleaved my sword in big arcs making everyone around me flee. I let anger, hope, and love drive me until I had gotten to Cassin himself.

I swung my sword with magical energy, yet, he saw it coming.
He held his hand up as my sword came down, but it stopped an inch above his hand, sparks coming off of some magical shield. I shot a blast of ice toward his chest, but he drew his own sword and deflected it to freeze a cave wall. He then stepped forward and cerved his sword around his head and into mine with practiced ease. I closed my eyes as it came down, but my arm moved above my head and I blocked it. I could feel some magical presence helping me, multiple even.
Cassin then catapulted his sword off my block and flicked his wrist and sent it right to my side. I some how blocked it, my arm hurting from the stress. Then something made my flick my sword from a block to a slash at Cassin's stomach. Yet, he then blocked it with an invisible shield from his other hand. Yet, even though it was a failing attempt, it made me know what to do next.
I swing my sword in a wide arc toward Cassin's left side but I passed it and instead let it move to my left and reversed its direction, sending it straight toward his right side. Cassin's sword blocked his left, as I expected, but his hand blocked his right side. Then, with my other hand, I sent a stream of ice toward his leg and with nothing to protect him, it struck him right there. He fell in pain, but it only made him angrier and with a flick of his wrists, I was, once again, back, floating in his clutches.
"Ah, you're such a fool Alex, can I call you Alex?" he stood up again, the same sly smile he's used to painted on his face.
"I hate that name." I spat back.
"Well, it doesn't matter, I'm calling you it anyway." I glared at him and he smiled back. "Also, don't count on your little friend to save yo either, Alex." He then picked up his hand and I saw Talia go flying back into another one of Cassin's makeshift cages. I saw Talia create a fireball and melt the lock off, but to no avail. "By the way, I cast a spell on the box so as long as I'm alive, nothing magical is going to break that box." He kept smiling and it sickened me.

"So Alex, I'm sure you're wondering what the big beam is for." He walked backwards, motioning to the mechanical mess he had behind him. "You may think it's a big death ray and to that I'd say... that you are completly right!" I looked at him.. Surely he had to be bluffing. "You see, once it gets enough power, this thing will eradicate every monster on the planet."
"Except you." I snarked.
"Oh, laugh all you want. In a few moments, there will be no one left except pure humans and all I need are these." He then lifted his other hand and every artifact I had suddenly came flying out of my smock. "You know, you really have been good at collecting all 5 of the artifacts left for me. Thanks for that!" The artifacts then flew into some collection chamber in the side of the matchean. Then I saw the beam coming out the top turn from blue to a deep red. "It's charging now, all it needs is a few more minutes and monster on this planet will be dead." He turned to face the monstrous machine, laughing.
Then, the next thing that happened . I looked back and saw Talia making a large fireball and aiming it straight toward Cassin. Before I could do anything, the fireball was away and hit Cassin straight in the back. He dropped to the ground in pain, the flames engulfing his entire body. My heart skipped a beat releasing, this was what happened before. I looked back to see Cassin standing up yet he was still on fire.
"It's too late to stop me! It's already in motion! There is no way to stop this without being able to control spacetime itself, and even then you'd die!" Then, Cassin fell to the ground, laughing, never to get back up.
Talia was safe... for the next few moments. I slumped down on the cold stone floor. I had failed all of them. There was nothing I could do. I looked back and saw Toriel trying to burn through her lock, the spell having gone with Cassin. But Amy looked confused.
"He said 5," she finally voiced, breaking the solemn silence.
"What?" I asked.
"He said 5 artifacts. I only counted four." I then suddenly remembered something else. He said I'd had to be able to control spacetime, yet I remembered hearing that before, just from where? Tareche! He said something about either the stone being an artifact or... I could control spacetime. Yet, it wasn't an artifact then. I started pacing back and forth. I knew there was an answer there somewhere! So, I must be able to control spacetime in some way! And then i realized it... he said I'd die even if I had the power.
I shook the thought out of my head and did the only thing I could. I got up atop the matchian, and I walked right into the beam. Talia and Amy protested, but I didn't listen, I couldn't listen. Pain shot all throughout my body, yet all I could feel was a reverent joy. At that time I could see Talia had gotten through the lock, and started running toward me, but I could feel my soul getting ripped from my body. Yet, with every jolt of pain I felt, the beam got a little bit weaker until it faded out of existence.
I had no energy left, though, and I collapsed on the ground. I saw Talia standing over me, crying. I then said one last thing. "I told you, Thalia, Everything will work out when I'm around." I smiled as a sunrise started peaking over the horizon and it dashed the cave in vibrant colors. I struggled as I took my last breaths and watched [insert sunrise here]
Then, my heart skipped a beat. Then another. And another, until the only thing I could do was close my eyes and let darkness envelope me.
