《King of Freaks ✔》Chapter 2

Bryn Atkinson's POV
woke up in the comfort in my plain white room, Rosco cuddled up on me. Crying does get you tired, I'll say.
I turned on the screen to my phone, the time clearly evident but took me a while to read since my eyes were a bit blurry from just waking up. I was getting mad because I kept on squinting, the sun illuminating my room making me partially blind.
The door bursts open, and soon there's no light anymore. I look towards my window to see that Nikolai had shut the blinds. Nikolai was young for a butler, and when I mean young, I mean young. He was around the same age as my Dad I think, probably even younger.
"Stephen said to wake you up for your high school classes," he said a bit too enthusiastically. "I needed to wake you up a bit early since I just knew you would get angry if you didn't shower."
He then started to drag me out of bed and my response was to repeatedly whine. The bathroom was in my room, so he stuffed me inside before quickly closing the door, knowing I was gonna slip out and go back to bed.
"Bryn, you need to take a shower," he said through the other side of the door, his Russian accent sticking out a bit.
"Fine," I mumbled before taking off my clothes and stepping into the shower.
Once that was finished, I got out, opening the closet door trying to find something to wear. I ended up choosing a black leather jacket, a solid white T-Shirt, some black pants, and combats. I looked in the mirror, realizing I basically dressed the way I felt. Not that wearing black is bad. I tend to wear black a lot anyway, it matches with everything, really.

I get out of my room, not before taking a skateboard along with me. The school Nikolai said I would attend to is only three blocks away, I could skate my way there. I head towards the dining hall, where everyone else is. By everyone, I only mean Aspen, My father, Nikolai, and Angela, the maid. The atmosphere was gloomy, and it was pretty obvious why.
My dad sat the head of the table, so I sat in front of Aspen. My breakfast didn't really last long since I noticed it was time to go to school. I wanted to get there early since I really didn't want to get lost. I bid my goodbye before leaving out the door. Rosco tried to follow, but after a bit of convincing, he finally stayed put.
I started to leave home. Sounds strange to say it but it is.
Home.
In around ten minutes, I was in front of my new school. Taking my skateboard with me, I went past the double doors. The office was right on my point of vision, so I had no trouble there. I retrieved my schedule and locker number by the lady behind the desk. She had glasses, a bit overweight, but overall she was kind. I thanked her for going on an adventure through the halls to find my locker.
2027.
The good thing is that it's in between the first and third floor. Not much of walking to be done. I walked past a few make-outs, flirtings, squads, etc. At some point I did find my locker, it was lost somewhere in the sea of hormonal male teenagers.
Great, they all look like fuck boys.
I walked towards my locker, pushing my way through.
How rude of me.
Note that bit of sarcasm but I seriously could give less than two shits. I finally got to my locker, pulling out my piece of information to unlock it. I unsuccessfully tried to get it open, and I was already frustrated from trying three times.

"Hello there locker buddy, need any help?" A voice said. I looked to my right to see one of the guys, casually leaning against the locker. He had dark brown hair, tall, and skinny, yet, he managed to look ravishing. I had two choices. Accept his offer, or get angry at a stupid locker that was supposed to be my best friend for the year.
"Fine," I said with a deadpan look. He grinned, a grin that I wanted to slap out of his face for being cocky. He explained it to me since the lockers here are a tad different than the ones I'm used to. I thanked him when I got it open, stuffing my skateboard inside along with a few notebooks.
"So, what's your name?" He asked.
"Bryn," I replied looking at him. I got kinda creeped out seeing his buddies behind him, obviously intrigued by our little to no conversation.
"Well Bryn, the names River, and this is Gray, Benji, Tanner, and Bruce," he said, introducing them all.
Gray was pale, with blonde hair and green eyes. He surprisingly huge, his height was intimidating, but couldn't compete with the serious face he had on. And the scariest thing was that it looked like it was his normal face. Benji, on the other hand, was around six feet, with black hair and tan skin. He was built, unlike River who looked like a tall twig.
Tanner wasn't skinny but looked rather slim. His blue eyes stood out and complemented his blond hair which was sticking upwards. Bruce had mocha skin. His curly hair was shaved, with a nice lining plastered on his forehead. His chocolate eyes stood out against his skin, and don't forget tall, but not as tall as Gray.
"Now, since I'm your locker buddy on this side," River said, pointing to the locker on my right. "Your locker buddy on that side is gonna be big old Gray."
Great, the scary dude. The one that could make people shit bricks just by looking at 'em, I thought. I closed my locker before turning to them and making an excuse for getting to class.
By the looks of it, it seems like I made some friends.
😉
Anyways, here's a pic of Bryn's Dad. Stephen.

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
