《King of Freaks ✔》Chapter 4

Bryn Atkinson's POV
seat next to me was empty yesterday, and it still is today. I was bored out of my mind when the classroom door opened and slammed.
"Good morning Mr. King." Mr. Skittles said. That's my own personal nickname, he's very chirpy and tends to wear bright colors. As of the moment, he's wearing rainbow socks, very creative. He managed to use all the colors at once! Anywho, the guy takes a seat next to me.
Well, there goes mystery desk owner.
I turned to look at him, except, his eye was—what's the word best describable— white? If that makes any sense? His eye looks like those creepy little girls from scary movies who have been possessed or something. It was white. He didn't have an iris, and he didn't have a pupil either.
I can't even tell if he knows I'm looking at him. I was itching to know what happened, but it would seem rude if I'd ask. I looked at his worksheet to see the heading.
His name, Eliazer.
I turned to look back at his face, only to see him looking right at me. I honestly didn't know what to do, so I just stopped and looked at him like a dumb idiot. His glare hardened and I found myself mentally digging my grave. He looked scarier than Grayson. So I smiled, it might've looked like I was taking a dump, but really, I wasn't. He looked stunned for second, and I mouthed at him to pay attention before turning my head and looking at Mr. Skittles.
Nice save, nice save.
***
smashed Benjamin's head with a banana, that sadly didn't do any harm.
"Okay! I'm sorry!" He pleaded, raising his hands on his face in attempt to defend himself. "Bryn! Jesus said you should always forgive!"

Tryna lecture me. I see.
At some point my arm got tired and I had no choice but to back down.
"So, we heard what you said to the freak." Bruce said. I widened my eyes at them for insulting Eloy when he was sitting right next to me.
"No! Not him, Eloy's not freak. Chicks dig his ticks, they think its cute." Tanner butted in, already knowing what I was thinking. "We're talking 'bout the King of Freaks".
"The King of Freaks?" I asked, dumbfounded.
"Yea, Eliazer?" Benji added. Of course, people would obviously think he's a freak just because of his eyeball.
"Well, what about it?" I questioned. Yea, he was scary and stuff. But I don't really see the big deal.
"Ya'know, you're the first to actually say something to him?" River said, obviously intrigued in this conversation.
"I heard he was born that way."
"I heard he did it to himself."
"They did say he was possesed."
"I've seen him go down alleys sometimes, but they're always dark ones, so I don't really know what goes on." Gray said.
Did my eye just twitch? Did Gray really say something?
"He is a s-strange fellow that's for s-sure." Eloy stuttured out.
Indeed he is.

was late for class, so my idea was to run to it. I did the dumb mistake of turning around to make sure if security was there before bumping into something solid. I fell to the ground on my bum with a "oof", which definitely didn't sound lady-like. I looked up to see none other than Eliazer standing there.
Great, now he's looking at me as if I'm stupid.
I turned around picking up my stuff that fell behind me. Once I achieved that, I turned back around to pick up everything else, only to see Eliazer helping me pick it up. I stood up and he gently gave me my books back. I looked down to see if I missed anything at all.

"Thanks." I said, but by the time I looked up, he was already at the other end of the hallway.
Nice butt though.

barely made it to class when the bell rung.
Thank God.
I decided to sit next to this girl, whom had platinum hair but the roots were black. She wore a jean jumpsuit, which she rocked since she had the thickest legs I've ever seen. Her bright blue eyes complemented her pale skin. She was beautiful, really.
"You're the one that smashed Kegan's face up?" She asked, her voice deep and raspy.
Can't you be even blunter?
"Uh yea, I think I broke her nose..?" I said dumbly. She nodded before saying some pretty surprising words.
"You're my new best friend..." she said, completely serious. She leaned across to see the heading of my notebook. "...Bryn".
"And you are?" I asked, telling her to introduce herself.
"Gemini." she replied.
"As in the zodiac sign?"
"Is there a problem?"
"Nope, not at all." I replied. She really is an intimidating one that's for sure. She's like the girl version of Grayson.
Oh God,
What best friend did I just get?
You're talking to yourself like an idiot.
Shut up conscious.
Anyways, Gemini is super chill. Surprisingly, she's very blunt, and doesn't smile.
Exactly like Gray.
I fear my life now. Excuse me while I calmly scream inside my head.
"Are you okay? You just looked like you just rocked yourself with some pot." Gemini said. Like I said, blunt. By the time I had a chance to respond, the bell rung, making me completely forget my thoughts. And being blunt Gemini, she left without said a "see you later" or a "goodbye".
She just left me there.
Damn, cold.
I dreaded to leave school. Today was the day. Today's Charlie's funeral.
I was basically dragging my feet to my locker. I didn't want to say goodbye, she was never supposed to die. This wasn't Charlie's destiny. I can't even say I believe in destiny after this. I wish she could just wake up when she's in her casket and phenomenally be alive. But sometimes, you just need to face yourself with the truth and embrace it.
But I don't want to.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.

This one is for my daughter. She talked me into it (again) and it is her favorite genre of books. So, Bet, this one is for you. The true-bloods, the masters, they came first. That was hammered into Heath's head since he could walk with both words and fists by Karen. As a guardian and half-blood bastard of his vampire father, he would never know peace. His duty as a dhampir, his duty was clear, his fate sealed. But was it necessarily his fate? Could a sterile half breed such as himself, someone who did not exist in the human world, live anywhere in the world on the light? After a particularly nasty encounter with his Mentor, Heath is on the run. Set on not becoming the new guardian and knowing that decision has now marked him for death. The hunt is on and somewhere behind him is Joshua, the heir of his Master, and the thing that plagues his nightmare, his Mentor Karen.
